Ok Americans - tell us the stories - From SHOPPING TODAY!!!!!!!
moped wrote: I told Mel to take pics with her camera phone of people trying to trample each other to get to the red light specials - LOL......any stories to share and good bargains that you got?????
Kentuckychick replied: I could share my stories... but after 4 straight Black Fridays of working at JcPenney and battling the crowds I totally stayed in bed today )
I will share one from last year though... We opened at 5:00 am... blah... so I had to be there at 4:30 and the customers were already lined up outside the door to get those dinky snowglobes. They actually got MAD at us for trying to "push through to the front of the line" even though we had our name tags on. Then, when we finally opened my third customer was a woman who demanded to know where the doorbuster leather coat in the ad was. I showed her our selection and our one leather suit type jacket and she told me that it was not the one and that there was supposed to be one for $49.99 and that we were "fasle advertising" and she'd stood in line for "3 hours" for that jacket etc... etc... (she was pretty irate). I finally noticed she had a few ads in her hand and told her it might be helpful if she could show me. She whipped out the ad and pointed to the jacket at which point I nicely said "Well, have you tried looking at Dawhares" (another store in the mall). Then she got REALLY mad and said "Well why in THE h*ll would I want to do that"... I said "because that ad is for Dawhares"... Let's just say the look on her face made my day ) And she actually apologized (which is a miracle!) and we laughed about how all the ads look alike and it's confusing (I tried to make light of it since she seemed pretty embarrassed). She ended up coming back a few hours later to shop at our store and she did manage to snag a jacket.
We all had a good laugh after she left though
mom2my2cuties replied: WOW! That is funny.
My SIL had an issue a couple years ago. We were buying DVD players, and she was VERY pregnant with my nephew, and some guy got mad because she was handing DVD players to those standing in line. She is really tall and could reach the top when most couldnt. And he actually had the NERVE to punch her in her VERY pregnant belly. Between my brother and mom this poor guy didn't stand a chance. She actually had the baby about a week or two later. Which is how pregnant she was.
TheOaf66 replied: Jennie went to Target early this morning to get a digital camera they had on sale for her parents for Christmas. She got there at about 6:40am and she had to wait for about 10 minutes just to get a parking space and she said the lines at the registers were already to the back of the store...crazy
C&K*s Mommie replied: I did not go out today to shop, Chris had to work and there was no way I would get out with two kids in tow at 4 in the morning. I have not heard of any wacky stories from shoppers here in my town, except that the determined shoppers camped out in from of electronics stores and had Thanksgiving dinner in front of the stores just to be first in line.
gr33n3y3z replied: no sale is worth that hassle I rather pay full price
But then again I go Christmas shopping the last week to be exact 2 days before Christmas and I get great sales and less ppl. to deal with
Hot items I buy on the inter-net
sparkys2boys replied: yikes.. i'm glad that I live in Canada right now..lol!!!
TANNER'S MOM replied: Well I went to a near by small town and did great. The only bad thing was the MP3 players I wanted for 19.99 was sold out, so they gave me a raincheck and they will get them before Christmas. I am glad about that. I bought myself a new vaccuum for $24.99 I am sure it's a cheapo but it was a sale. I have Tanner completely done.. and thats a good thing
I did take the cute pick of Tanner. At this one western store I found the coolest toy ever. It's like a cart/tricyle but was big enough for Tan to ride. It had a horse on the front and it had reins. And you actually steered your horse while you peddled with reins He rode it all over the store. When Randy gets back I will so show you the pick,'
We got up at 3 and I am so tired.. I am napping
Donna027 replied: lol I couldnt shop I had to work today. But I always kinda enjoyed shopping on this day, I actually sort of enjoy all the holiday rush
Cece00 replied: I went today. It really was not bad at all. Walmart was croweded in the electronics dept but I checked out right away...I was only in the store for 30 min and 25 min of that was walking to get what I needed...took a few minutes to get to the front & check out (no lines at that point...) and I was done.
Target was more crowded- they ran out of baskets...but I got a guy to carry a TV for me to the front & I used to work there so I got to check out in the customer service area & not wait in any lines...it pays to know ppl.
The mall wasnt too bad either.
I didnt see anyone acting up at any store. People are pretty civilized where I live.
I got LOTS of great deals, too. I went with my best friend & it was a lot of fun.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I refuse on principle to get up at 5am to go shopping. I have to get up at 5am when I'm working and I will NOT do it on a day off. So, I avoid all the morning madness, miss most of the good deals, and usually don't go out at all, but I did go to a little craft store and get some ornaments for my sister. I posted about that.
moped replied: Well that sounds great for all of you!!!!!
I truly love shopping so I would have ablast.
Our big shopping day is the day after xmas (Boxing Day) - which sounds just like today for you guys, all the huge sales and great deals. But we don't get up at 5am for shopping!
CantWait replied: THAT EXPLAINS THE COMMERCIALS FOR STORES OPENING AT 5AM. I THINK THAT'S NUTTS.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Some stores/chains opened up at midnight, but I am not sure of anywhere around here opening up early.
I would much sooner have a head start at midnight than have to pick and choose which stores to go to at 5am.
quinnandjacob'smom replied: I went to Kohl's, but not until 8 am. My inlaws came over to watch the boys and dh and I went. All the toys we bought were 1/2 off so we did pretty much all our toy shopping and got some great deals. The line was to the back of the store, but we took turns waiting while the other shopped. It didn't seem too bad. We also hit TRU, but the sales there stunk. I didn't see anyone out of control, people were all very friendly.
luvmykids replied: We have great sales the day after Christmas too but I think this one is sooo crazy because of people shopping for cheap gifts
I didn't go this year, I did last year and it wasn't all that worth it for me. One of my friends did though, and shopped from 5am to 3pm
Cece00 replied: I shopped from 5 am to 1 pm, then again from 4-6pm.
Kentuckychick replied: Yeah, the day after Christmas is always crazy here too, but that's not crazy with people shopping, nope... it's crazy with people RETURNING the gifts that they got for Christmas.
I personally (apologies to anyone I might offend) find nothing more tacky than returning a Christmas gift the day after christmas. Exchanging, okay, but for real guys, the DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS?!?!?!? And oh the stories from THAT day. The people who brought back returns with gift receipts only to find out that granny had bought that shirt on clearance for $2.99 (nothing wrong with that except then they complain to US that she couldn't possible have ONLY spent that much on them!)... and then they complain because we won't give them cash back with a gift receipt (no... you get a gift card... get over it!) or better yet when you won't give them full price, or cash back when they have no receipt at all they want to speak with a manager! Oy... that day may actually be the one day I dreaded worse than Black Friday!
