Ok Gents! I need your help.
coasterqueen wrote: Last Sunday DH saw the Best Buy ad and how it said "no interest til 2010" on big screen tv's. WELL, I've been begging Dh for a plasma to go above our fireplace mantle so then I can put another sofa where our tv is at now. We always have loads of people in our house when we entertain so more seating is a good thing. When he saw the ad he said "hmmm, tempting" and left it at that.
Monday I got an email from Best Buy about the sale as well so I forwarded it to Dh and told him I thought he'd want to see it. Of course he told me to quit tempting him. So since then I've teased him a bit more via email asking him if he's seen the sale, etc BUT it's not working!!!!
How do I convince this man that he needs to take this opportunity? I've even tried other things but it hasn't worked either.
booey2 replied: Sorry Karen, I am not a gent, but I really haven't had that much trouble getting DH to buy electronics. Heck, I suggested he buy a big screen TV 1 week postpartum after having Thomas and he jumped out of his chair and almost ran to the store. Sorry, maybe someone else will have an idea.
TANNER'S MOM replied: I say buy it and give it to him for Christmas..lol Then all he can say is Thank You..lol
coasterqueen replied: Yeah, DH doesn't usually have trouble either, but we are doing really well at getting debt-free and so he's a bit more hesitant these days.
coasterqueen replied: That's a great idea, although I know nothing about those things so I wouldn't know what to buy.
My2Beauties replied: Just say, honey we're gonig to Best Buy to buy a plasma and get the keys and the kids ready and say come on we're leaving! That would work on my DH!
luvmykids replied: Just say "I'm going to get the plasma, do you want to have any input? Or do you trust to me to pick one myself?"
eta: If you get one, now or in the future, the warranty is a MUST in my opinion. They can be incredibly expensive to fix and although you don't expect anything to go wrong, things do, and accidents happen. I wasn't going to do the extended warranty on ours but had a funny feeling and forked over the money. Thank God because three years down the road there was a problem and we would have had to flat out buy a new one.....because of the warranty they replaced it for us.
redchief replied: With the exception that I don't usually buy things like that on time, I probably would have already ordered it secretly and spent the rest of the season playing you along.
lisar replied: I love this idea...
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Oh my goodness! Good luck. I can't get Scotty to buy ANYTHING on credit..certainly not an electronic.
mom2my2cuties replied: I agree with Monica - GET THE WARRANTY (the extended one if they have it actually) And pay attention to how many hours the screen will work...It sounds like a lot, but you really have to think about that because after that number of hours, the screen either quits working properly or all together.
coasterqueen replied: Yeah, I know there's something about the hour life of the bulb/screen because the bulb for our projector downstairs has a "shelf life" and to replace it is like $500. I'm not sure what we'll do when when it's reached it's life.
MyBabeMaddie replied: Just wanted to say something about Plasma's. We had a flat panel LCD had no problem's with it but Adam wanted something bigger so we got a 42" Plasma.. We had it for one day and the image burned itself into the TV, didn't have it on pause or anything - We took it back - You get more for your money with LCD (they've actually surpassed plasma technology and they're cheaper) JMO.
J-rod replied: he shouldnt need convincing..... a woman.....telling a man to buy a BIGGER BETTER TV is a no brainer.
coasterqueen replied: It is, but it's all about finances these days for my hubby. Don't get me wrong, I'm greatful for that though.
J-rod replied: i know....im the same way...i wont spend $ on anything for myself...so steph is taking my christmas $ from family and buying things she knows i need/want since i wont do it myself... so i can understand that.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I can understand him not wanting anything on credit... we took a big chunk of our savings earlier this year and paid off ALL our credit. We haven't bought anything off credit really since July, and life is so much easier.... and we don't come home with 3 or 4 bags of junk from walmart, "just because we can".
But it's a PLASMA! Come ON!!!
coasterqueen replied: Yeah, we've only used our credit card 2x this year and it's bought and paid for now.
But I agree, it's a tv. I think he secretly knows that if he gets a tv, I'm going to want new livingroom furniture so he knows it probably won't stop at a tv. He's too smart.
