Ok...Im feeling pretty dumb - need some advice
mckayleesmom wrote: The other day I went to Golds gym because I won that membership thing. That day the guy showed me around...asked me some goal questions...etc. I really like the gym, but I made it clear to the guy that I wanted to look around at other gyms before deciding on a membership. I did however say that this was looking like the best option as far as daycare (free) and stuff goes. The guy asked if I wanted to sign up, I said I had to wait and run it by my husband because we don't make decisions like that alone. He said that he could drop the first months fee for me and only charge me the registration fee of 100 dollars which would be good for 6 weeks. I told him I didn't have the money until the 1st...He said that the deal would only be good till Friday, but if I post dated a debit...I could still use the gym till friday on a pass..They wouldn't actually run my card until they got permission from me to debit my account if I chose to do the membership. The only way to get the deal was to at least pay 50 by Friday....Well we had alot of bills this month...so that isn't happening. I let him slide my card so I could use the gym....but its only suppose to be charged if I chose to keep it......Now Im not feeling so right about letting him talk me into doing that, even though he said he had to get my permission to process it on Friday. I don't understand why he couldn't just give me the deal on Monday.
Im thinking about calling tomorow and cancelling the whole thing...The free trainer and crap too.
The guy was kind of pushy...and really kind of annoying...I feel like such a pushover. He was one of those cocky guys that thinks hes funny....My thing is...If I call I don't want to talk to him because its his job to get me to change my mind. If I call to say I felt kind of tricked after I thought about it...and then I do end up joining that gym later..it will be akward seeing him around..
Any suggestions....I don't know what I was thinking.
Moebablo replied: All I can say is do it your way always
reese replied: Well, I can say that he was a very good salesperson because he talked you out on having a membership in the gym. Next time try to calm yourself before deciding.
kit_kats_mom replied: I worked at Golds for about 4 days. I quit because they wanted us to be so pushy. Call your bank, cancel the transaction and don't go back
mckayleesmom replied: It wasn't a transaction....yet...It was post dated for the 28th and it was done the old fashioned way by sliding the card over the paper thing....
I think Im going to call today.
Celestrina replied: Ask to speak to the manager; usually that type of thing is not allowed. Like kit_kats_mom said, cancel the transaction just to be safe.
DillsMommy replied: I can't stand pushy salespeople. I think I'd call and cancel....
grapfruit replied: Give me the number I'll call for you
Just tell them that you talked it over with your husband you both decided right now wasn't the right time to join their gym, but you'd keep them in mind if your decision ever changes.
Trust me sweetie, I get people that come in for quotes and 6 months or more later may come BACK in. Sometimes they say they've never gotten a quote before. I never think different of them. I just try to help them when I can. If they come back I'm thrilled.
mckayleesmom replied: Do you work at Golds Gym?......Did I get tricked....Im feeling kind of tricked.
Kaitlin'smom replied: see thats why I will never again put my name if for a 'free' gym anything, they call everyone saying they won and get them in there only to pressure them into singing up. I would call and cancil and find a gym you like thats not pushy.
mckayleesmom replied: Im waiting for the manager to call me back
luvbug00 replied: Casey works in an insurance company of some sort.
I was gonna say the same thing as her. it's polite and will get a more kind responce ( i hope).
My2Beauties replied: I was going to say the same thing Di said, they call everyone back that puts their name in and then they push you to join. I joined a gym one time like an idiot and I was young, like 18 and they signed me up for a 3 year membership, I didn't realize it until I got home, I thought I was signing up for 1 year, so I called and complained big time, they cut me down to 1 year. I was in a car accident a few months later and had to have back therapy for 4 months at a chiropractor, that got me out of my contract, but they wanted all kinds of documentation of my injuries to get me out of that thing, I hardly ever went and it was $60 per month By the time you talk to them, the really low fee allows you to basically do nothing at the gym, to have access to all the equipment it costs extra.
sparkys2boys replied: Ohhh, what happened?? Did they call you back?
