On-line shopping - Who does?

salmndr007 wrote: Just wanted to ask a quick question for my own research. How many of you shop online or would rather shop online for things that you usually go to walmart (or wherever) for?

Wouldn't it be nice to have all of those things delivered straight to your door instead of packing up the kids for a 2 hour trip to the store for 30 minutes of shopping?

Jamison'smama replied: I do a lot of online shopping, not for basic needs but for clothing, music, books and gifts.

salmndr007 replied: Do you find it an inconvienience to have to look all over instead of having one website to do all of you shopping from?

CantWait replied: I don't usually buy things online. I actually have only done so once, and it was a half pleasant experience. I'm just apprehensive about the fact that if something goes wrong who do I call.

I like going out and getting out of the house. Anthony is starting to behave much better when we go shopping for hours on end, so I really don't mind taking him much anymore.

CantWait replied:
Sometimes I find shopping online an inconvienec because I can't find what I'm looking for under the right heading or they don't have the selection. There's pros and cons to both. wink.gif

Jamison'smama replied: I would like it sometimes--if my kids are sick, the weather is bad or DH is on a long trip but most of the time, I need to get out of the house and we use Target's toy section as an excursion. I also do a lot of basic needs shopping in the evenings when DH is home with the kids and I need to get out of the house. I also think price comparison is important--with the availibilty of store brands etc. and then shipping costs...... I doubt I'd do it.

luvmykids replied: I do a lot of shopping online but not for WalMart type stuff ... On one hand it would be nice to have it all delivered but at the same time, sometimes it's a good excuse to get out of the house.

C&K*s Mommie replied: I would prefer to shop online for quick things, instead of packing the kids up. Then again we have a Dollar General that I will run into for a quick thing, if needed. But I actually like planning errand days, and running those errands. Minus the exorbitant gas my car uses on average for simple trips, or just to go to class downtown- I enjoy getting out of the house. I have my lazy days, then days like today I lug the kids around everywhere.

I prefer to do research online though. I wish more businesses had websites, though. And I have shopped for things off of ebay, but I do not always get a great money.gif money.gif deal with it, so most things I prefer to shop in stores for.

C&K*s Mommie replied: When researching, I prefer to look at many websites so I gain knowledge from that reading. Like shopping for a dishwasher, I have been to three stores, and numerous websites all to gain knowledge and to know the things that are important to me, and what to look for. (like child lock out)

salmndr007 replied: The reason I was asking this question is because the company that I am working with is teaming up with over 2,500 stores (everything from name brands to exclusives) and trying to help about 80% of the fortune 500 companies develop marketing strategies while also transitioning to the web...basicly keeping the "high touch" (people being able to look, touch, feel, ask questions) market of traditional brick stores while also letting them get the "high-tech" of the online community.

kimberley replied: will do some christmas shopping online to beat the crowds but generally, i prefer to see and try on what i buy first at the store. had a couple of things from ebay not arrive as they appeared online. plus the shipping is just not worth it.

Kaitlin'smom replied: yes I do and quite a bit of it. One of my favorites is schwans (food) I get alot of my food that way and there is no delivery charge. and I woudl say unless its soemthing special I hardly ever pay shipping, so many of the place I shop has free shipping or $5 shipping.

PrairieMom replied: I buy stuff online all the time. It is so much easier to look around with out wasting all the time and gas running to all kinds of different stores. It is also handy to have things delivered right to the house. I bought all the Boy's bigger baby stuff that way, like the swing, and the pack and play and high chair. I didn't have to figure out how to drag it all out the car!

MyLuvBugs replied: I shop for lots of gifts and stuff online rather than the stores. ESPECIALLY around the holidays. UGH. rolleyes.gif

MyLuvBugs replied:
No. I like having a variety of places to look through to find the best bargain on the item or on shipping.

Why are you asking Sal??? Are you planning something? smile.gif

Brias3 replied: I shop online occasionally but not for necessity Target-type items.

Kirstenmumof3 replied: thumb.gif I love shopping online! I order everything from books to bedding sets. Games for the kids, toys, clothes. I love ordering online

ediep replied: I buy stuff online all the time, the only thing that bothers me about it is that I usually have to pay shipping.

MamaJAM replied: I despise shopping...going to a store - wandering around the building - waiting in line.....I'd rather have my head shaved! I do as much shopping pn-line as possible. Especially for larger items that I'd hate to have to drag home and inside myself (just recently I bought new dressers and a loft/under bed for my younger girls on-line).
I still do groceries/everyday shopping at stores. And buy the majority of the clothing we wear at stores.....though if I could - I'd do plenty of that stuff on-line too.

salmndr007 replied:

Actually, I am working with fortune 500 companies and helping them develop marketing strategies with online storefronts. If anyone is interested, There are about 2,500 companies all together and I would love to give you guys more information. Just PM me and I will let you know more indepth what it is that I am working with.

~~*Missi*~~ replied: I shop online all the time. I have found Overstock.com to be WONDERFUL i got my husband a 500$ watch for UNDER $200.... I got sabrina and him both diamond studs there for cheap..
Ebay i watch for items NWT i don't buy used clothes...ut only have gotten burned once and in the end i made out with the clothes and my money refunded since the guy was a liar (he said new with tags and well clearly the clothes were not new LOL)..
Macy's, old navy, penny's, etc.....
I do alot of online shopping because I am a stay at home mom. Chris's job requires him to have the car, I don't see the need right now to lease or buy another car for the Occasional trip out. So I do online.
With overstock i ordered ALL my gifts for christmas the 23rd and had them the 24th evening FREE!!! i love overstock.com......

Never had any issues with stealing of identity etc... i use my discover card and citi card because they offer online banking numbers that are connected to your account but don't actualy give out the "card" or "account" number.....
Walmart and that I do not shop at online i do browse to check to see if they have something i want then go LOL....

coasterqueen replied: I only shop online when shipping is free or I can't get it in the store. I just can't see paying the cost of shipping when that will cost more than me going to the store to get it. I don't have money to burn. wink.gif I would say I'd LOVE to do more online shopping, though. blush.gif

luvmykids replied:
I looooooooove Overstock.com!!! wub.gif
