Online Safety Question Of The Day

Onto the game:

The Rules are as Follows:

1. You must post your guess by 11:59 PM EST on the day of the question

2. To keep things fair, no looking up the right answer on google(or any other site)

3. You can "cheat" and use your kids for help(they can't look it up either) =)

4. The winner gets the greatest prize of all... the ability to gloat until tomorrow!

Question For Friday, July 21st

In a recent survey, what percentage of parents could correctly translate the online chat slang POS and P911? Can you?

C&K*s Mommie replied: a wild guess at the POS... yes I think I could translate it.

But the P911, I have no clue.

The slang of the new generation is evolving and changing very often, that I have given up on trying to keep up. Geeesshh... I feel like my parents would have said the same about my generation.

oops... sorry. I misunderstood the question to mean you were developing percentage from answers. I don't know... I'd guess less than a quarter would know so I'm going to say 15%.

I am by far in the majority of not having known what they meant.

ETA: I wouldn't have connected POS without P911. I'd seen P911 before and looked into it. There is another translation for POS too... Parent Over Shoulder. Basically the same thing but symantics.

CantWait replied: I'd say P911, means Parents 911, as in shush the rents are coming. Don't know about the other, bout Piece of S**t sounds bout right. I'd say only about 13% knew what it meant.

Can't wait to find out the answer.

patzer replied: Sorry all, I had a teaching test to take this morning and had to wake up at the crack of dawn to get there. The correct answer.......


Correct Answer.... 5% of parents knew that these terms mean Parent Over Shoulder or Parent in the room.
