Opening gifts - 3 year old party

mysweetpeasWil&Wes wrote: We're having Wil's 3rd Birthday party this Saturday. It will be at Pump it Up, one of those warehouse party places full of bounce houses. We get the bounce room for an hour and then the party room for cake for 30 minutes. So time is obviously limited.

Should I leave time for Wil to open gifts? All the parents will be attending, so I can't figure out if parents will want to see their gift being opened, or pass on it. What do you think I should do?

luvmykids replied: I don't know, the only time we were in a situation like that, I started packing up the gifts to take home for opening and some people seemed a little offended. Enough parents said "Aren't they opening presents here?" that I ended up letting them open them.

MoonMama replied: Gosh that's a hard one. I think most parents will want to see the gift they gave opened in front of them. hug.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: Personally, I love watching kids open gifts. I like to see their reactions, and also to check out all the stuff they got from everyone.

Jamison'smama replied: Our pump it up has a big throne-type thing where the child can sit and open gifts ---it is rushed. There isn't enough time in the pary rooms---maybe someone can pre-open the cards while he's playing---that part always takes time. The place where Jack had his party, they did not open presents there and it was great!

lovemy2 replied: I think he should open the gifts in front his guests.....have them eat their cake while he opens gifts....

MommyToAshley replied: Hey, we're having Ashley's party at Pump It Up as well. (Great minds think alike wink.gif ) It's such a fun place!

The party package that we are doing is giving us 80 minutes with the inflatables and 40 minutes in the party room. (So, it is two hours total) We're just doing snacks with cake and ice cream instead of having pizza too because of the time of day the party is... the kids would be eating at 3:00 (right in the middle of lunch and dinner). Can you request more time in the party room? I didn't think to ask about it because I figured that 40 minutes was enough time to open presents and eat cake.

I agree with the others... I think it is fun to watch them open the presents.

bawoodsmall replied: I dont know what Pump It Up is but it sounds fun!! I think the presents should be open there. I love seeing the kids reactions. Ok Emily wants to see some faces so here goes.

Kaitlin'smom replied: I agree see if you can either get more time or have them open while cake is being eaten.

Pump it up is fun!

luvbug00 replied: aww man i wanna gooo!!!! i just checked the site! super cool!!!

do a quick opening there.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Thanks you guys. I'll probably just play it by ear. I don't think I can request more time this late in the game. And I personally don't want to pay extra. laugh.gif Already so expensive! I'll have to see if our location has the throne...that would be cute!

Here's a link to Pump it Up for those of you who were wondering.

PIU

Both boys are sick today...bad wet coughs. sad.gif So I'm really hoping we don't have to cancel. Keep your fingers crossed. Poor Wil didn't have a party last year, so I was really counting on this year to go all out for him. Everyone said they could make it too! unsure.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: I always have Tanner open his before the party ends, and then I have him hand out his treat bags for his guests so they get something too.

Calimama replied:
Yep! Good idea.
