Ornament Obsessed Cat!
Boo&BugsMom wrote: Anyone else have cats? We have two. Our older one, Taz, is almost 6 years old. PERFECT cat, doesn't do anything wrong except chew on shoelaces, loves attention and cuddles. Then there is our kitten, Socks. She is about 9 months old. She is very affectionate and cuddly as well, but quite a handful. We thought we'd have a lot of problems with our Christmas tree with her, but as it turns out she is only obsessed with the ornaments on it. She takes them off...the ones she can get to, and places them in a pile on the living room floor and hoardes them! WHAT THE!?!? Nutty cat! While the kids were at the table doing activities today I heard a "jingle jingle" in the living room and what do I see? Socks taking an ornament off and placing it in a pile of 4-5 ornaments already off the tree. She doesn't destroy them, she just takes them off and places them in a pile. GRRR! She does the same thing with dirty socks that sit in the laundry area in the basement. She drags them up through the cat door and scatters them throughout the house. Anyone want a cat? LOL! Just kidding. She's a stinker, but I do love her to pieces.
coasterqueen replied: What about putting little bells all around the bottom of the tree. My mom did this with hers and the cat left the tree alone. I tried doing that with my tree and the cat just manuevered around them and started sleeping inside my tree up at the very top.
Calimama replied: I have an ornament obsessed CHILD.
redchief replied: We can't put ornaments on the lower branches due to our rabbit... that count?
Boo&BugsMom replied: She'd probably just make a pile of bells!
We had an orange cat awhile back that would climb our tree. We came home to find his head sticking out like a huge ornament in the middle of the tree. She doesn't do that, thank God. At least her antics are somewhat humerous.
coasterqueen replied: rabbit? It roams the house freely?
coasterqueen replied: Yeah, I don't know about you but the 1st time I saw our cat in the tree like that I freaked out. I remember walking up to the tree one night seeing two glowing eyes. I screamed and made DH go figure out what was in the tree and it was the cat.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: My mom used to have to keep the tree in the play pen. To keep both the cats and my brother out of it.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Our older 2 cats are pretty good with it....the occasional swat as they walk by or attempt to rip open a present is all. As for the kitten....this is her first Christmas so we shall see.
luvmykids replied: I miss my cats I had a black manx who loved Christmas, he gently swatted the ornaments but his favorite thing was to curl up under the tree.....he slept there as long as it was up The only time there was any other problem was when he didn't like a pizza delivery guy, climbed the tree and jumped on his head He totally earned his "attack cat" status!
btw-Ed, what kind of rabbit do you guys have? My mom has an angora, very cool pet! He plays fetch and all kinds of cute stuff.
redchief replied: Yep... and his favorite toy, oddly enough, is a Christmas bell ornament. He gets to keep it in his cage all year. Clarifying - He's free to roam the house in the afternoon, but asks to go to bed (yes, he does) between 9:30 and 10:00 PM.
gr33n3y3z replied: and he also loves Candy Canes lol we will have to try and get a pick of him stealing a candy cane off the tree its very funny
coasterqueen replied: I'd LOVE to see that. How cool to have a rabbit roaming around. I assume it's potty trained? How on earth do you potty train a rabbit? How do you keep it from chewing up stuff?
gr33n3y3z replied: I wont lie he has chewed about 3 lamp cords upteen phone wires and 3 alarm clock wires and 6 play station game controllers with in his life with us which he will be 1o years old in April
Yep he is potty trained for the most part he is getting old and when he runs things fall out but that is bc of his age LOL
sparkys2boys replied: ohh, we just got a new rabbit(ours died last week) and yes it roams around freely too, not all of the time and not when we are not home!!!
