Our plan
MomToMany wrote: We are planning on getting a new house this spring. I can't wait!! We are currently living in a single wide trailer house that is on our 60 acres of land. It's so nice living in the country!!!
So, we decided to get a very large (4 or 5 bedrooms) double wide, and just put it on a slab foundation. We thought we wanted a basement, but that would be too expensive, and I'm not too keen on stairs in the house anyway.
I work at home, and put together these wire things that go on automotive horn switches. DH is a shift supervisor for the company that makes the horn switches. It is tedious, time-consuming work, but its extra money for us, and the kids aren't in daycare.
DH asked me what I could do so I wouldn't have to put these things together anymore. We kicked around some ideas, and came up with the thought of running a daycare, which is desperately needed in this area, especially for people who work where he does. A good friend of ours works there & has one DD and another baby coming in June. She doesn't know if she will be able to use the same daycae when its time for her to go back to work.
LOL, DH even said that my life is like running a daycare anyway, so why not make some money at it? I'd LOVE to not work on those cables anymore! So, I'm going to get licensed as a daycare provider, hopefully by summertime. I really hope this works out for us. We really need a bigger house!!
I'm so excited, I just had to share!!! I hope we don't jinx ourselves now .
mckayleesmom replied: Sounds like a plan Stan.....My grandma has a huge trailer....They bought all these different pieces and put them together. Its bigger then most houses.
TANNER'S MOM replied: That works for me! I couldn't do it though, but in the area I live in which is pretty rural, we have to have home daycares. There are no large daycares in the country. It serves a great purpose here, when you are 30 miles from the nearest town, and you child has to be bussed to daycare after school. I love my daycare provider because she is there for him. And that is the biggest relief to know that someone is waiting on him to get off the bus. The other kids are old enuff to stay by themselves but I don't trust them all together with a 6 year old. And they are go to Middle School, Jr high and High School, so I have 4 kids in 4 different. It has worked out will for me and I think it is great that you are providing that service for other parents who have to go outside there home to work!
Good Luck and Thank you for thinking of children always!
Mommy2BAK replied: Wow Mollie! That sounds awesome!!! I hope it will all work out for you. I would like to watch a few other kids to make a little extra money. But with Blakely being so little right now I don't think I could.
Good Luck!
5littleladies replied: That sounds like an awesome plan Mollie!! A daycare sounds like it would be perfect for you! I have thought many times that if I didn't homeschool that I would start a daycare in my home-maybe when I've gotten the groove of it better.
I hope it all works out the way you plan!
Kaitlin'smom replied: oh that sounds great. I hope all works out for you, you deserve it.
MomToMany replied: Thanks everyone! I hope it does work out for us!
A&A'smommy replied: Wow Mollie that is AWESOME!!! They have a LOT of requirements for a home daycare though my SIL was going to do it and I wanted to but my house at the time didn't meet those requirements OH well I bet your house is going to be perfect and your going to be the perfect person to do it!!
kimberley replied: that's great news! you deserve the best!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: That's awesome! I've always wanted to have my own daycare... maybe later when my own kids are bigger - I want to just enjoy being a mommy for awhile. I hope it all works out for you. Good luck!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Mollie that is GREAT! How exciting! Really, it won't be any more work for you if you took in some extra kids. You probably wouldn't even spend that much more on groceries. Keep us posted!
mom21kid2dogs replied: Wow! Sounnds very exciting!! I've seen lots of prefab housing that's way nicer than some of the exising construction in our area. My friends daughter is looking at a really nice model , too. Good luck with your new venture! You obviously have way more energy than I do!!
favre4fan replied: Thats great!!!
3xsthefun replied: Sounds like a good plan! Hope it all works out for you!
