Pacifiers
Kirstenmumof3 wrote: Just curious how many moms use pacifiers. I know we couldn't live without Claudias!
Heather replied: We never used one with Alison. We tried a few times but she just didn't want it. I am kinda glad though, one less thing to try to wean off.
ediep replied: we don't use a paci here either. Jason just decided that he didn't want it anymore
kit_kats_mom replied: Katherine never took a paci or a bottle. Believe me, I tried. She will play with them now but the she prefers me as her favorite paci.
Mommieto2Girls replied: Maddie loves her pacifier, I can't wait to get rid of it.
~CrazieMama~ replied: Brianna hasn't used a paci since she was around 7 months old. I had to take it away because she would always try to take Maddie's. Same with the bottle. She went to a sippy cup at 7 months old as well.
dolfinrse replied: Zack took a pacifier when he was first born and for a few months after, but all of a sudden he stopped taking it.
MommyToAshley replied: Ashley would never take a pacifier. I tried to give it to her and she would take it out of her mouth and try to stick it in mine. She took a bottle for a few months on occasion, but by 6 months she didn't want it anymore either so we went to a sippy cup.
MomToJade&Jordan replied: Jade would never take a pacifier. I was her pacifier for a good eight and a half months of her life. I am glad though because I didn't have to take one from her.
paradisemommy replied: taven used his paci for a chew toy but he was never hooked on them..he'll take an occasional bottle but like many of you guys - i'm his favorite paci
CantWait replied: I try too. Anthony really doesn't like his pacifiers. Doesn't like bottles either. He'd much rather have booby then a rubber thing. He'll take it from his brother sometimes but rarely ever me. I do believe they can be a life saver sometimes, but only when he's crying and I can't stop to feed him or something like that. I can't stand when I see older babies (over 2) running around with a sucky in their mouth, especially if their happy and content.
alice&arik replied: Arik took one when he was just born, and then in the car when i was driving a long ways I gave it to him if he woke up to get him too sleep. But he never liked it after that. Glad he didn't though, i hate seeing those 2 or 3 year olds with pacifiers.
supermom replied: I voted yes, because we've tried to use one with all of the kids - the first two wouldn't have anything to do with them, third DD used one for a while (maybe 7-8 mos old?) and same with Anders, though he could do without it if he could have BM. Emily doesn't really want one either, and I see her giving hers up early too....
Emily can take it or leave it, but it's nice to have something besides your finger to put in their mouth if they've got to wait just a few seconds for mom to get situated to BF.........
mckayleesmom replied: Mckaylee will only take one if her gums are hurting and I usually put them in the freezer.. My niece is one of the 2 year olds still walking around with them, but she is slowly learning to let go of it. They don't let her take it to preschool..its against the rules. But not only does she have one in her mouth, she goes to sleep at night with 5 or 6 of them in her hands. She even tried to steal Mckaylees when we were there.
jdkjd replied: We don't but only because Bailey wouldn't take it. Trust me, I tried-she used me as a human pacifier for the first month...
Kaitlin'smom replied: Kaitlin does not take one, never did we tried a few, but she became a thumb sucker. If that does not work for her then she will use me, espically when she is tired or not feeling well.
aspenblue1 replied: Isabella stopped taking her paci around 3 months old she would refuse to take it. Now she plays with it but she wont really suck on it.
coasterqueen replied: I voted yes. We introduced a paci to Kylie when I went back to work when she was 10 weeks. Since I was/am nursing and she still needed the *pacifying* that I couldn't give her while I was away we gave her the paci. I hated doing that, but the sitter said she constantly wanted to suck on something and really still does, lol. The little goof
There for a while she didn't want it at all, but then when all 4 molars were coming in at once, and now all 4 cuspids coming in at once she really clings to that thing when I'm not nursing her. Those poor toothies are just beating her up, I guess.
I figure hopefully she will wean herself of it when she weans herself from nursing. A girl can hope, right?
mummy2girls replied: i tried but jenna never reallyy took to it
DansMom replied: Daniel never took to them. He would suck three or four times and the binky would pop back out. I did use in months 2 through 4 at restaurants if he got fussy, and I would have to hold it the whole time until he settled down, but those occasions were rare. Now he will chew on the rubber end of a binky if he's teething! But he never seemed to want them for comfort.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: We used one for Zach for about 6 months, pretty regularly. Then the sitter told us he did fine without it...she only gave it to him at naptime, IF he was cranky. So we started doing the same thing.... he hasn't used a pacifier at all in about 3 months.
Now, he no longer has the bottle, either.
