Peyton has RSV.
DillsMommy wrote: After spending 5 hours in the ER last night/this morning, we found out that Peyton has RSV. He's been coughing, weezing, stuffy nose, since monday night. I took him to the doctors yesterday and she said that he has Broncialitis (sp?) She told me what to watch for and said if it gets worse to go to the ER. Well last night he was having a hard time breathing and sounded awful, so we went ahead and took him at 2 am this morning. They cleaned out his nose, gave him a breathing treatment and took an x-ray. His chest looks good, but sure enough-- the test for RSV came back positive. So they sent us home with a breathing machine to use every 4 hours. It's so scary, just listenting to him breath. I never realized how serious rsv was until I googled it. Plus--I can't wait to get that bill, our insurance won't start until Jan. 1st. I just feel like crying.
PrairieMom replied: Yuck. Tis the season. We have been seeing it in our hospital for a while now, but it hasn't hit full force yet. Poor kid. I hope he feels better soon. RSV usually gets worse before it gets better, and peaks around day 5 or so. How long has he been sick?
luvmykids replied: I'm so sorry Macie had it when she was a newborn, it is scary stuff for us moms to listen to The neb will help a lot though, I hope he starts feeling better very soon
holley79 replied: Oh no sweetie. I hope he gets to feeling better very soon.
Kaitlin'smom replied: Kaitlin had a very mild case when she was 4 months old. I was getting ready to take her to the sitters and something was just not right, so I called in and took her to the doctors, they sent me on to childerns and the cleaned her out and sent us home. Scared the heck out of me but I caught it sooo early that it did not last but a few days.
DillsMommy replied: He's had the stuffy nose and coughing since Monday night/evening. I didn't think much of it until he started weezing more. They told me it peaks around day 5ish, so hopefully he'll start feeling better soon. They also said it usually lasts a couple weeks. Not fun! Because he had it once, does that mean he'll have a better chance of getting it over and over?
Cece00 replied: Poor baby.
Jack had it as a newborn & he ended up in the hospital for 5 days b/c he was so sick. His o2 lvls were in the 70's when we brought him in. It was REALLY scary, he was very very very sick
I dont know if he will be more prone to get it again (Jack hasnt gotten it so far this yr...) but I can tell you that generally when they get RSV, every time they get sick they wheeze a lot...or at least that happened with 2 of my kids who got RSV. Seems like any time they get a cold, they end up wheezing a little & I break out the neb for a couple of days...
Calimama replied: Poor guy. I hope he feels better soon.
boyohboyohboy replied: i am so sorry, many prayers coming your way. can he get the rsv shot will that help him now?
Maddie&EthansMom replied: He will be okay. I'm familiar with the no insurance bit. It sucks, I know.
lovemy2 replied: Poor Peyton - I hope he feels better soon -
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Awww poor little guy! I hope he feels better soon!
3xsthefun replied: Oh, no! Poor baby! I hope he feels better real soon!
Boo&BugsMom replied: Oh Mandy I'm so sorry. I hope he will be ok. I know insurance sucks, or no insurance, but just think...as long as he is ok, that is what matters most. I know, easier said than done.
DillsMommy replied: Thanks guys, that really does help.
I can't believe how happy he still is. He's been such a good boy today.
bawoodsmall replied: Sorry he is sick. Aiden never had rsv but he had something when he was around 9 months but I cant remember what it was. The one where their poop is way nasty green and smelly. What the heck is it called? It is driving me bananas. Tara help me out. roto virus it just dawned on me. At least you caught it soon. Aiden had to be hospitalized. I hope he gets better soon.
PrairieMom replied: Yup. Roto. Its awesome. I acutally got it when I was PG with Ben and ended up in the hospital for it. I got dehydrated and started having contractions.
luvmykids replied: Macie didn't ever get it again, all three of mine had respiratory problems very young though due to a huge forest fire where we lived and they still get pretty weezy when they're sick, but Macie is actually the better of the three when it comes to that.
CantWait replied: Poor baby, hope he feels better soon.
Danalana replied: Aww, I'm sorry...I hope he feels better soon!!
gr33n3y3z replied: Lots of get well hugs to him
bawoodsmall replied: Oh my goodness. Did they get the contractions stopped or is that when you had Ben?
MotherForever2043 replied: Oh, poor baby I hope he gets better soon
