Pictures... - so proud of myself...

MomtoPate wrote: I just had to share these with someone!! I have two friends that have birthday's close together. They both have everything that they want...and what they do want, lol, I couldn't afford to get them (cruise, diamonds, etc..) so I thought, what can I do for them that they will love? So, I took pictures of the kids (one of them I watch a few times a week, so it was really easy to sneak what I was doing) and the other child, well, his mom is always saying, "Can you take pictures of my kids for me?" So, it was really easy to do her son as well...anyway, I took them with my digital camera, then on the computer turned them to black and white and then turned somethings back into color, like the ladybugs on the little girl (Maddee) and the overalls and hat on the boy (Michael)...anyway, I am just so excited that I had to share this....I got the idea from Sears...they do these kinds of pictures for $99-150....I hope that they like them!
Would you like something like this of your child/children?

mckayleesmom replied: Awww...those are priceless and beautiful...You are really good...I have a pro camera and I suck.

Lynda836 replied: OMG...those are beautiful!!! Is photograpy a hobby or a profession? They look professional. If you don't mind me asking...how do you add the color back in? Do you use a certain editing program? Photography's a hobby of mine...and I love playing with my photos.

MomtoPate replied: No, it is not really a hobby of mine...I don't have a great camera...just a HP 5.1 R707...not a great camera at all, but for some reason, I just get lucky with the kids. I usually just take a big sheet (white or cream) and hang it up or drape it over something tall and then take pictures of the child on the sheet....then I use Paint Shop Pro 7 (old version, I know) and before I turn it to black and white, I copy and paste the picture right beside it...then I take one of the pictures and turn it b&w and then use the cloning brush to put the color back in. You just have to make sure that you put the brush on the same spot in both pictures....does that make any sense? Like I would get the brush, clone it in the middle of the black spot on a ladybug...then I would go to the b&w picture and put the brush back on the same spot on the lady bug and add the color. As long as you get it in the same spot, it will do anything you want on the picture and make it look just like the other one. It is really simple to do...just a little time consuming is all, but I thought that the result was well worth the time.

Thanks for the complements...I hope that my friends like them just as much!

Oh, and I started taking pictures of my friends kids a while back because I have a friend that does photography as a hobby and was charging $35 for taking the kids pictures and all they got was a cd...they had to go and spend money to print them some place else. I thought, I can do this for fun for my friends and they won't have to spend anything...I mean, come on..you can go to walmart and get a ton of pictures for $5, so I thought it was a great way to see my friends and visit and also get some good pictures of them. Now, everyone comes to me to get their pictures taken. It is a lot of fun!
