Pluto isn't a planet anymore

PLUTO NO LONGER A PLANET
Am I the only one that has a favorite planet??
Jackie012007 replied: WOW it's kinda weird to see a bit of science that was pounded into our heads at all ages throughout school, be completely changed! There will forever be 9 plants to me!

mom2my2cuties replied: I asked my husband about this, this morning after hearing it on the radio yesterday. And he said it is because they have found hundreds of "objects" the size of Pluto on the outskirts of our galaxy, and that if they kept Pluto as a planet, with the current size requirements they would have to make those planets as well and we could litterally end up with hundreds or thousands of planets by the time they are through.

cameragirl21 replied: Here's the problem, though--for those of you who are into Astrology (I am very into it), Pluto is Scorpio's planet. So if Pluto is not a planet then Scorpio will be the only sign without a planet. And they can't really give Scorpio a new planet because every sign's planet is what it is. So now Scorpio is unequal to the other signs.... Take care, Jennifer
punkeemunkee'smom replied: The powers that be have decided that anything considered a planet in our solar system must revolve around the sun in the same circular orbit that we do...Pluto revolves around Saturn in an oblong orbit...That is what was so neat and different about it. Now I guess even the planets have to conform
I think it is rather pompus of these scientists to just 'decide' to change the rules mid-stream....I think they must have been bored!
ashtonsmama replied: That is so wierd. Didn't know it was possible!
mom2my2cuties replied: I agree that it is a little bit strange. But I can also see the logic of it. Could you imagine having to learn all the planets and well there being hundreds because of size?
mom2my2cuties replied: And odd rotation
redchief replied: Well, technically Pluto has been reclassified as a micro-planet. Does that mean Scorpio is now a micro-sign? Nahhh.
luvbug00 replied: So much for the " there are nine planets in the solor system" kids song.. it's been beaten into my brain and I've been teaching it to Mya. like I'm not confused enough!
Kaitlin'smom replied: Poor pluto.
I understand why they feel the need to change it but can you imigine the COST it will be to change all the books and the stuff you can get at a craft store to make the solar system, they will have to pull it all and re package it. Will they do this? hummmm maybe I should go buy a couple old ones and keep them.
boyohboyohboy replied: I got up this am, to learn about this from Caleb, who said mom, they decided that pluto is where all the dwarfs live! (I assume these are snow whites dwarfs!)
I was thinking what a good journalist he will make!
YuMe-n-GavMakes3 replied: Just be sure they are not TOO old!
Science books before 1930 didn't have Pluto in them yet!
Now whats the learning sentence going to be? Anybody that knew the old one here? My = Mercury Very = Venus Educated = Earth Mother = Mars Just = Jupiter Showed = Saturn Us = Uranus Nine = Neptune Planets! = Pluto
A&A'smommy replied: yeah i read that a couple of days ago.. thats kinda crazy!!!
maddie223 replied: yes i heard about that on the news! i cant believe its not a planet anymore! i still cant understand why
