Positive thoughts,Prayers,Fingers Crossed - help needed.......
punkeemunkee'smom wrote: Since you all did so good last time I requested help I have another favor to ask...Without going into too much detail I have ANOTHER doctor's visit today. I am asking that you all keep me in mind that he listens to me and doesn't give me the "If you had medical insurance I would " speech again....I need a surgery to fix some issues and (away from the fact that I am now wayyyy too anemic to do it right away-gonna need some blood boost there) he is much more concerned about his cash flow than my health...but it is in fact starting to affect me very badly I am so tired and don't think I can hack this much longer...please pray that he realizes today how bad I am feeling and will work with us-we can give him a pretty hefty chunk of his fee I have looked into another doctor but I have been going to him for 10 years and just hate to have to switch and start over but if it doesn't get fixed today that will be my next step...I will let you know what we hear but I just really need someone to HELP!!!!!!
sparkys2boys replied: Sending postive thoughts your way. Hun, if he doesn't see the problems today it is time to move on to a diffrent doc. I hope that you are ok and it goes well today.. good luck and KUP
MoonMama replied: Oh sweetie how horrible of him...if he doesn't do something today I would definitely look into a new doctor ASAP. Lots of positive thoughts, prayers, and coming your way.
sem replied: Good Luck!
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Thank you! He does see the problem but he also sees the $5 grand he wants to fix it I have a hernia on my Csection scar and it is causing problems...he has been saying for awhile it needs to be removed but we were waiting it out when it wasn't really bugging me. He feels that it has been 'infiltrated by enodomitriosis' and so is causing (TMI coming) daily bleeding and pain(for the past 3 months)...and now it has begun to swell-noticably-Anyway since it is pre-exisiting from when I had insurance no insurance we could get would cover it now...so it will be a cash surgery-We tried the pill for the past month and 1/2 but it is not stopping the bleeding or swelling and so I called today and said SOMETHING has to be done...I am litterally unable to function completely I am so exhuasted that I am not being the mom OR wife I am usually and I am sad and scared and SO SO TIRED!!!!! so much for not too much detail, huh? Sorry!
mom21kid2dogs replied: Good luck!!! Hope you get a real answer today!
hoosier momma replied: Not wishing surgery on you, but if that will help the problem, I hope he agrees to it. Good luck and hope you get healthy very soon.
BAC'sMom replied: Good luck I will be thinking of you.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Abby, please don't play around with it. My mom has had multiple hernia surgeries on her abdomen. It can do a lot more damage letting it go and other complications. My prayers are out there for you. I hope you can seek the proper medical attention you need.
Kaitlin'smom replied: I will be thinking of you, but TBH if he is more concerned about the $$$ and not YOU then you have to go to someone else, you cant keep messing around with it.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: What?
Call me tonight!
You know I'll be praying for you!
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Well I am back from the doctor...He was back to his more normal self today and not so $$$ minded-I have 2 things going on at the moment that are causing problems so we are working on both (TMI maybe for some so stop here if you need to)#1) I have fibriods in my uterus that are causing the bleeding-can't do a D&C because I don't have any lining right now it is constantly shedding trying to push the fibriods out... ... anyway no lining and D&C not a good idea they said... #2) The hernia is full of endomitriosis which is being fed by, you guessed it the estrogen produced to shed the fibroids, thus the swelling and pain. He put me on a stronger pill and we are looking into insurances that MAY be willing to cover a surgery in the very near future. We will be looking at a 1-3 day stay in the hospital. They will not know the severity of the mass, how much they need to remove until they open me up . He will also need another surgeon in the OR with him because it may go into my abdominal cavity...the lump is definately bigger than it used to be #3) We ran more bloodwork because the fact still remains that at my last known iron count-we couldn't just do the surgery. I would need a blood transfusion or major iron boost first...What a catch 22,huh? The up side is there is a possibility that the stronger pill will help both and possibily even shrink the endomitriosis in the hernia...But it will be a month before we know because I am more than 1/2 thru this pack and don't want to switch midstream absolutely no pun intended! One can always hope right? Of course here I have to laugh because when I mentioned how much cash we could pay him up front he said just let him know what we decide- Money truly does make the world go around! The only thing is I have been going to him for 10 years and I really do like this doctor but his new insurance lady is a real sweetie and I don't know if that is part of it....oh well-wish me luck on all fronts-I really don't feel any better-but at least maybe we are on the right rough track.......
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Oh gosh....that just stinks. I didn't think they would actually turn someone away. Usually they cut you a break if you are a cash patient.
Ugh. I just hate it that you are looking at surgery and a hospital stay. I hope the next dosage of pills does the trick and your iron stores increase.
The kids are asleep if you want to call.
luvmykids replied: Oh Ab it all sounds so overwhelming and just downright awful I know you believe in miracles and I am praying that for you We love you and are rooting for you in whatever is best for you....this seems like it has been going on forever and you deserve to feel so much better than this
C&K*s Mommie replied: I wish things go very well and in your favor, and will be praying for you.
MommyToAshley replied:
I am sorry you are going through all of this. You are in pain and the last thing you need to do is deal with the financial worries of the medical procedure.
First of all, they can not deny you medical care because you do not have insurance. It is illegal. They can set you up on a payment system that will not burden you. Most hospitals will make it interest free and as low as payments as you can afford. Most doctors, labs, and hospitals will reduce your bill by over 20% if you tell them you are self pay and ask for a reduction. I have never had one tell me "no". In fact, if you pay in advance or up front, they will reduce it even more.
Also, did you listen to the State of the Union address? Bush talked about some tax cuts for those that don't have insurance through an employer and have to purchase it on their own. He also talked about giving money to states to use for health care for those that can not afford insurance. Whether this is in the planning stage, a bill ready to be signed, or just wishful thinking, I have no idea. But, well worth checking into.
I would talk to the financial office of the hospital where you will be having your surgery. (There will be a separate bill from the hospital, plus the one from your doctor). The hospital's financial office may be able to lead you in the direction of some programs that your doctor may not be aware of.
If your doctor is not willing to work with you, I would find another doctor. A doctor that puts money before your well-being is not looking out for your best interest. I understand your comfort level with this doctor, and I was hesitant to switch doctors when I was PG with Ashley. I switched when I was 6 months pregnant and it was the best thing I ever did. It wouldn't hurt to at least talk to another doctor.
I hope I didn't sound preachy. I have just dealt with being self-pay for some time and thought I would pass along what I had to learn the hard way.
Many prayers and positive thought. Keep us posted!

redplaydoh replied: Lets hope you get some results from this new pill. At least enough to get you healthy enough for surgery. Please keep us posted!! !
gr33n3y3z replied: I'm sorry your going through all this I hope you get your way sooner then the later hun prayers and And DeeDee is right about the payment plans it maybe a good idea to get it all checked out
jcc64 replied: I'm really sorry you're going through this, Abbie. It's hard enough to be having medical issues, without the added stress of prohibitive fees. I think Dee Dee gave you some excellent advice, I would definitely add that your health and well being are paramount. I wouldn't put this off any longer- you can work out the payments after the procedure. Be up front before the fact about your insurance situation, but don't let the bureaucratic loose ends delay what is medically necessary. Hang in there, Abbie.
my2monkeyboys replied: Oh, I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this. Is there any program you may qualify, such as medicaid? I'd definitely talk to the financial office at the hospital, as I'm sure they'd know of different programs available. I hope you get this worked out soon.
