Pregnancy ... ??? - What it is like ...

Mommy2Isabella wrote: [COLOR=purple] I am new here. My husband actually pointed me in the direction of the site! I am 2 months along. Well, thats what we know now! We find out all the information tomorrow. Such as if it is TWINS or not. Which we both are kind of hoping for since I may not be able to get pregnant again. I wasn't supposed to be able to this time. We gave the doctors a little surprise!! biggrin.gif ! But, I guess I am just wondering how others were with the so called MORNING sickness, and cravings and such ... all the symptoms of pregnancy, and if there are any moms with Twins, I am really interested to see what it was like for you with the MORNING sickness, that was one of the first things to throw them off. ...

Anxiously waiting replies ...

C&K*s Mommie replied: quick question... does your husband use the screen name salmdr or something like that? There was a father on here last week, that has a docs appt with his wife on the 10th to find if they are having twins and such. I was wondering if that was him?

remtana replied: I didn't have morning sickness where I threw up, I was just really nauseous. I felt VERY tired, headaches, breasts hurt, just felt Blah.

I worked at Planned Parenthood at the time I found out about being pg with my 3rd, so it was a big joke that I worked there and had an semi-accidental pregnancy!!! No one at worked teased me, it was my family....Lol.

Once you get to your second trimester, you feel better. At least I did, until the 3rd trimester got there. I was miserable, but I have other issues I had to deal with that were not pregnancy related, but the pregnancy irritated.

Good luck and enjoy it!

C&K*s Mommie replied: Anyhow, CONGRATS!! on your PG!!! party.gif forum_balloon.gif and welcome.gif to the PC boards.

I do not have twins, evident by my siggy pic~ they look to be different ages. With my oldest Christian (3ys), I went through hunger pangs that was, I suppose, my version of morning sickness, but I did not want to eat. The morning sickness was at night, and I was fatigued ALOT!! The thought of eating made me want to puke.gif , we were also poor at the time so all we ever ate was hamburger helper and chicken. So thinking of those things made me gag even more.

With Kellie, I never had much morning sickness~ I was lucky I guess. I just 'knew' I was PG very early on.

As for cravings~ I never really had any strange ones, except one time that I thought in the middle of the night of an egg & cheese doughnut sandwich while in the early PG with Christian. Other than that I did not experience anything unsusual, and I had a hard time gaining weight too. (got alot of earfuls from my midwives with both of my girls, because I was not gaining enough)

wavey.gif Best wishes, on this PG! I hope you come back to keep us updated on the events surrounding this PG!

adixon24 replied: Welcome & Congrats!!!! hug.gif I was pregnant with my first but miscarried Dec. 16th but I didnt have a lot of morning sickness---I just didnt feel good! I was very tired, breasts very sore, and I was very emotional (and I am NOT a crier). I was told it gets better during the 2nd Trim. Good Luck---Welcome Aboard!

moped replied: Well I was sick the whole 9 months, but I think I am abnormal. It was not a fun pregnancy at all for me - but so worth it!

fashionmumofboys replied: wavey.gif and welcome.gif

Congratulations on your pegnancy.

With my first pregnancy, I had m/s for the first 3 months only mornings, and then it stopped, but was always very tired and emotional.

Second pregnancy, I had m/s again for the first 3 months, but wasn't as tired.

Third pregnancy, I had m/s almost through my whole pregnancy on and off during the whole day or at night.

I hope you have a safe and healthy 9 months.

CantWait replied: wavey.gif First off HI and welcome to Parenting Club....

I've been down the pregnancy road twice, and both were totally different. The first I had morning sickness, 24/7 through my whole pregnancy, but otherwise everything went well. My second I only felt sick when I walked into work ( I worked as a waitress and bartender) and smelled the food being prepared for the day. That only last the first couple months. My big problem with the second is that I was always tired, and very fatigued.

Congrats to you and Sal, and best of luck tomorrow. thumb.gif Here's hoping for baby.gif baby.gif 2.

Mommy2Isabella replied: For those of you wondering .... yes salmndr is my husband ... smile.gif what a great man, i suppose it is a little backwards, him turning me to the site ... but what a great site! smile.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: Welcome and congrats on your pg! I have 2 girls myself and was one of the lucky ones that both of my pg's were extremely easy. No morning sickness, tiredness, no extreme cravings. I did have frequent migraines with Madison (my youngest - 8 months) but I have migraines normally.

I say enjoy every minute of it! I LOVED being pg.

Freckled Momma replied: Hi and welcome to both you and your husband! Congratulations as well! biggrin.gif

I had what ya call...ALL DAY sickness with my first...lol I've never thrown up so much in my entire life combined blink.gif I craved veggies and fruits. Got turned off by hamburgers (which I've always loved) decided I couldn't live without hotdogs with ketchup and kraut (which I never really liked). Also had to deal with a lot of sciatic nerve pain...sheesh BUT I only gained like 5 lbs (I lost weight instead of gained). After I had Alex I was 20lbs less than when I started...He weighed just under 5 lbs at birth.

With my second...wasn't hardly ever sick, gained weight like normal (seems I decided to keep it too rolleyes.gif ) AND started craving ONION RINGS ...Do I like onions.... nosmiley.gif Hate them rolling_smile.gif

Third... I remember being soooo tired and that's when my anxiety disorder became full force wacko.gif Don't remember craving anything different. Nor being sick, that much...I worked half the time I was pregnant and did fine.

Fourth one...I was extremely tired snooze.gif (a bit older and worn out with 3 already happy.gif ) Sick a lil bit...not bad. Don't remember any weird cravings with this one, either.

Oh...during all 4 pregnancies the thought of seafood or smell did me in... puke.gif

But it wasn't all bad, I loved being pregnant for the most part biggrin.gif And would go through it all again to have my babies wub.gif

luvmykids replied: WARNING: As a mom of twins, this post may get long!

I was very very sick for the first trimester. But a few things did truly help. Emitrol, which is for general nasuea. Check with your doc first but mine said it was fine. I carried the bottle with me and just took a swig anytime I needed it. Also, mine got worse with motion so I kept a box of gingersnaps by the bed and ate a few (slowly) before I even got up in the morning, that helped a lot. Peppermint gum was a necessity. Ginger and peppermint are both good for nausea, so I also drank a lot of peppermint tea.

The actual pregnancy itself was fine, take your docs advice seriously but don't let yourself get scared of all the possible complications with twins. I did end up on bedrest the last trimester, which sucked, but I prayed a lot, read a lot of baby books, and slept as much as I could. Right away my OB referred me to perinatologists just to be safe, so I had a lot more appts. than the average joe but I always felt reassured that they were keeping such a close eye on me. I ended up having them 4 wks. early but no probs at all ... vaginal birth, 12 hours of labor (I had an epidural and actually slept until it was time to push) and they were only 9 minutes apart.

Once you find out if you're having twins, let me know and I'll give you all my "twin tips" .... I was lucky enough to have a few friends who also have twins and got lots of helpful info!

CAMSMOM1 replied: I have a funny story about how I found out I was pg with Cameron. I was VERY emotional...which was unlike me to cry over nothing. Not only was I emotional, but I was VERY moody. One minuete I was the ultimate witch, the next second I was laughing hysterically, and then I felt like crying! This continued for 2 weeks. I was really tired, and had a lot of headaches. I thought, either I'm going CRAZY stars.gif and losing my mind, or I was pregnant.
So one day I was at work. My breast were hurting SOOOOO bad! I started crying bawling.gif and one of my co-workers asked me what's wrong. I told her, "I think I have BREAST CANCER! My breasts hurt so bad, I must be dying!" They all laughed at me rolling_smile.gif and told me, "No sweetie, you don't have cancer, you're just pregnant!" laugh.gif So that night I took a HPT and sure enough, I was pregnant!
I didn't get morning sickness at all. I just was really moody, headaches, tired, fatigue, and my breast felt like bricks!
I had a wonderful pregnancy! I am probably one of the few women who really enjoyed being pregnant. I loved having a BIG belly...and trust me...it was BIG! I had people come up to me on the street, and ask me if I was having triplets! emlaugh.gif The only uncomfortable thing I experiences was swollen feet, and a lot of pelvic pressure. ( I was carrying a large baby.)
I had a 9 pound baby boy! I thought that I was going to have a "natural" birth, no medication. I lasted 8 hours, and screamed for an epidural! I was induced, since I was a week late, and the Pitocin wasn't fun at all! I was in labor 12 hours, and 2 hours of pushing.
Ok, my birth story is on another board...so I won't go into that! wink.gif
I just loved being pregnant!
My only tip, is to start writing in a journal. I did when I first found out, and I still write in it. It helped me with my emotions, and keeping track of my progress. Take your prenatal vitamins at night, if you are having morning sickness. And sleep as much as you can, cause you won't get to once you have the baby! They also say that a woman who is well rested, has a shorter and easier labor.

Congrats! And welcome to the board! Keep us posted!

MamaJAM replied: Welcome!! wavey.gif Congrats on your pregnancy.....good luck at the doc today! thumb.gif

As far as 'morning sickness' -- it's different for every woman and every pregnancy. I was sick as a dog 24/7 for 5 months with my first - and 4 months with my second. Then I felt wonderful my entire third pregnancy.....freaked me out - but I wasn't complaining. My forth and fifth pregnancies I was queasy the entire 9 months. One thing that always helped was making sure my stomach never got completely empty. Either nibble a few crackers here and there....or suck hard candies or lollipops (sour flavors often work better)....chewing gum also helped.

One thing I will definately suggest for you (and I mentioned this to your DH last week). KEEP A PREGNANCY JOURNAL!! biggrin.gif Use it to jot down your thoughts and emotions. Write down questions you want to ask the doc at your next appointment as soon as you think of them - that way you won't forget. You can also track your progress through your pregnancy - your belly-size, weight, bloodpressure, baby's heart-rate, etc. Anyway - I kept a journal with my 2nd-5th pregnancies and they are truly treasured books to me.....I just wish someone had suggested it to me with our first -- so now I mention it to every pregnant woman. smile.gif

Anyway - make sure to tell us how your doc appointment goes!!

Mommy2Isabella replied: THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR WORDS OF BABY WISDOM. Sal and I went to the doctor yesterday morning. All in all one of the worst experiences of my whole life. NO KIDDING! The doctor walked in and said, so your pregnant right ... so at this point we have been sitting in the room for about 30 min. I am irratable as it is, and yesterday morning wasn't the best if you know what i mean. Later in the appointment before he began the exam, he asked me if I was keeping the baby, which upset me even more. I was going to let Sal step out of the room during the exam, but after everything that happend before the exam, I looked at him and said, you are staying in here, I am VERY uncomfortable and DO NOT WANT TO BE HERE. But, He did the PAINFUL exam. I felt as if he had taken a steak knife to the inside of my uterus! SO, to shorten this up, he did the exam and we went in for the U/S ... to find out if we had 2 bundles or 1. We found out ... quickly, we have one bundle, and what they call a Fibroid... kind of scary because of all the risks and my high hormone levels, enabling it to grow more. But none the less. The baby is healthy, and is adorable to Sal and I ... smile.gif I suppose because we are already in love with the baby! We already have names picked out ... we are crazy. But all in all, I am scared and nervous, I am being sent out in town < military terms. I was being seen at the Naval Hospital and they are sending me out to my GYN who is also OB because he knows my history of problems and is a specialist ... so needless to say, I AM STOKED. And with all of that being said. If anyone else has experienced Fibroids, I am open for advice and experience that you had ... biggrin.gif ...

Thanks Again for all the stories and advice ...

Jessica

MamaJAM replied: I'm sorry your first doc experience wasn't a good one. hug.gif For a doc to ask you if you're keeping the baby - what a schmuck! growl.gif I would have kicked him. The OB/GYN that you'll be seeing 'out in town' isn't the guy you saw this time - I hope.

Anyway - congrats on your little bundle. baby.gif Glad everything is looking great. thumb.gif

CosmetologyMommy replied: oh my I was sick ALL DAY THE FIRST 5 MONTHS! I was miserable. I was in school then and I had to take a leave. I lost weight and had to go on zofran so I could keep even juice or water down. Then, just like a switch it was over and I felt great. The last month I was pretty miserable too because I could not sleep.

luvmykids replied: What names have you picked out, or is it top secret? Hope the other OB is better, they can make all the difference to a newly pregger mom. Congrats again!

Mommy2Isabella replied: Thank you all once again for your congrats and wisdom!!!

The names aren't TOP SECRET ... lol

If it is a BOY: Michael Giovanni
Bryon Giovanni

Girl: Don't know a first name ... Giovanna ...

Giovanni and Giovanna are Itallian for something that I can't remember right now. Although I am up for any suggestions for names that anyone may have ! I have 6 months left to decide ...

MAMACARLA replied: I was lucky to never have morning sickness. But I craved subs all the time. In fact that's pretty much all I ate. The hardest part for me was the last month. I was working and so tired of people asking when I was do and just ready to be done. But it is all so worth it when you hold your child the first time. My sister on the other hand was on bedrest the whole time, had gestational diabetes and was sick the whole nine months. So it is definetly different for everyone.

I wasn't supposed to be pregnant either. I had a miscarriage right before her and was supposed to be abstainning. You know how that goes. Any way I got pregnant two weeks after that. I know it's probably not the same thing your going through and I wish you the best of luck. It should all be wonderful.
