Preschool Question - what age?

I tried to get Jack in for this fall however, they are all full and I can't this year, I will have to wait til he is 4........
lovemy2 replied: Olivia was 3....
Boo&BugsMom replied: Tanner has always been in daycare, in and out of the house so I didn't need for him to go to preschool. However, if he didn't have that outlet I would have enrolled him when he was 3, or at least the year before K. Not so much for academics, they can learn all that at home, but for socialization purposes and structure.
tammyhopkins replied: I think 4 is a good age because then they go straight to kindergarden after that. Josh has to go to nurserry school 2 years in a row.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: We didn't do preschool here. Straight to JK at 4.
Well, Zach had just turned 4 just before school started, and Emilie will be turning 4 before Christmas.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Christian was 3, a few months shy of being 4. It was called K-4, which may be the same thing as preschool- just not sure.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Logan's birthday falls after the school cutoff date. So, although he'll be three this fall, he won't be able to attend school yet. He'll be nearly 6 when he goes into kindergarten and that's fine with me. So, I'll be registering him next year when he's approaching his 4th birthday, that will give him 2 years of preschool before kindergarten. I think that'll be plenty along with what he's learning in daycare.
lisar replied: Here where I am they have to be 4 to go to pre school. So Lexi did go when she was 4.
redplaydoh replied: Both of mine were 2
holley79 replied: Annika is going to be going to a Christian Day care center starting the first of the year. They are school readiness and are preschool based. Annika will be 2 when she goes.
boyohboyohboy replied: caleb went at 5 because of his birthday, he missed the cut off date for kindergarden, but he would have gone then at 4 other wise. then straight to kindergarden, i think it helped him get in the mind set of listening and following a structured program. but there are tons of kids going into his kindergarden that didnt go to preschool at all. jake will go at 4.
KingMom replied: I'm up in the air right now for Colin. His birthday is in late October and will be after the cutoff for kindergarden the year he turns 5, so we may hold off one more year. If I do start something this fall it will just be 1 day a week. then next year I'd up to 2 or 3 days a week. We'll have to see!
Brias3 replied: Mason's registered to begin in September, he turns four in October.
As far as preschool goes, it largely depends on the child in my opinion. Ryan turned three in July and began preschool the next month when he was that age. He was totally ready. Mason would never have been last year so its perfect for him.
