C&K*s Mommie wrote: Once a week, maybe every other week we have neighborhood boys coming by asking to cut our grass for $15. Pretty steep, since I can do it myself for free. (cheapskate) I usually cut it myself, but this last time we paid a man to do it for us. It has been a week (about how often I cut it) since it has been cut last, so the grass is getting to the point that I should be cutting it come Saturday or Sunday. Not a prob.

Well, today I had two boys came by asking to cut just the front for $25!! saywha.gif blink.gif I had to ask him twice what price he was charging. I passed that offer up real fast. For $35 bucks we can have the front & back cut, weed eating, plus edging done. And our backyard is twice as big as the front, so I would much sooner pay $25 for the backyard only, any day. Not the front. dry.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: what happened to the $15?

C&K*s Mommie replied: Well this was a different set of boys from the ones that usually come around-- I do not remember seeing them before. There are a several sets of children that come around, and charge the $15, so they (the two today) must not have known that the usual rate is $10 less. But they need to do a little price comparison on the going rate, otherwise they're going to be two broke boys this summer. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I have no idea what the going rate is around here to have your lawn cut...Scotty does ours. cool.gif But, I would think $25 for just the front lawn is a lot of money.

TheOaf66 replied: I personally could never pay someone to mow my lawn for me just like I can't pay to have my oil changed (that's just me and my male hang ups). If I have the physical ability to do it then I will, don't have that kind of money to be throwin around like that biggrin.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: $25 just for a front yard? What is it, a 4 acre front yard or something?! Goodness, that's steep. I much rather do it myself too than pay someone that much...and I've never mowed a lawn in my entire life. blush.gif Well, actually, now that I remember I tried when I was around 14 or so, but I sucked, so my dad never let me do it again. blush.gif Haven't touched a mower since, but I would to save that $25 for part of the lawn.

MyLuvBugs replied: Gosh darn inflation! laugh.gif

kimberley replied: that is highway robbery!! lol

go with $15 for front and back! happy.gif

Cece00 replied: I pay $10 to have my lawn cut & weedeated about 1 time a wk, maybe 1.5-2 wks if its not super hot & wet here....

Then again, I have very very little yard right now....

Once we move, DH is going to have to take over the task...of course, my dad is giving him the riding lawnmower b/c he bought a new one AND a tractor (they have like 7 acres). He's going to have to do it b/c who knows how much it would cost to get the yard taken care of @ the new house...its probably like 10-15 times as big as the amt of yard we have now....

mckayleesmom replied: I use to pay our neighbor kids 5 bucks to do my front yard...and I usually gave them 5 dollars a piece...so 10 bucks.

luvmykids replied: Geez I must be getting ripped off! It's 80 bucks every two weeks to have front and back cut, edged, weeded, and the rocks blown.

redchief replied: My parents and I live on the same property. Dad wouldn't let anyone cut his grass (he doesn't even like me doing it... he pampers his little plot).

kit_kats_mom replied:
That's what I'm thinking. We pay $75/month for mow, edging, blowing and some bush trimming. They come once a week in the winter & twice a week in the summer when the grass gets out of control. ohmy.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: Well our backyard is not as fast growing as the front is. It takes an entire month to even have something to cut in the back. The front is every 5-7 days it needs a trimming. We need to put seeds down to promote a decent looking lawn, but we have not yet.

So if we had a professional come out for certain every two weeks it would be $70 for the month- including the front/back, edging & weed eating. For the front alone I would not mind paying $20/$25 since the pros will do the edging for me. For neighborhood kids to simply mow, I refuse to pay that much money.gif When I can mow myself for free, and not edge either. I tried my hand at it, and I cannot get the hang of it.

3_call_me_mama replied: We have just about 2 acres that need to be mowed, twice a week in order to keep toi at a decent height and and to keep the bugs down. It's $45 a time here to have it mowed adn trimmed. No weedng or anythgin great. Just mow adn edge and maybe rake under the trees. It was $100 for spring cleanup.
We don't hire anyone but that's the cost when we looked into it. The kids down teh road charge teh same amount $45 a time and they arent' that great. We did hire the spring clean up guy though cause it was a real mess out there and we simply didnt' have the time to do it. SO we hired him, paid the $100 and then went out and bought a new rider with the money it would have cost us to hiure him over teh summer. But it's real trying to get it done twice a week for DH adn if we wait more than 3-4 days the kids can barely walk outback dry.gif
