Seriously, help me. It's driving me nuts. The sprinkler guy was here and he said that something laid a paddy in our back yard. It's about a foot wide at it's largest part and frankly, gross. It's also about 4 feet away from a pile of dog turd which I can't explain either since I don' t have a dog. :angry:

I know that there are deer in the preserve behind us. Large birds, armadillos, snakes and possums but I have no clue what could have left this mess. It's kind of freaking me out. Was it a wild boar? Guess it could be, I've heard of them around here. A cow? We do have some nearby. A gator or turtle from the pond? Maybe the loch ness monster has taken up residence in the pond and she attacked a dog but scared the poop out of the dog right before the attack? And why the dog poop right next to it? It all looks freshly done like sometime last night.

Here is a pic. If you are an animal person, please help. I'll be up all night watching my yard if I don't find out.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: ok first of all, EW! And second, yikes. Are there bears in your area? I don't think it's necessarily too big to be a cow, but I'd keep the girls in the house until you get the game commission out there and find out what it is. Weird!

I doubt it's a bear and it could be cow dung...it looks wet and so does the grass...did you have sprinklers on last night?

I actually just sent the pictures to a research office. After the guy got done laughing at me, he said he'd look at them and get back with me.

DH thinks it may be a gator although the only one we've ever seen has been at the Columbus zoo so don't ask me how he came up with that one.

Let us know as soon as you find out because I'm interested.

I showed DH the pic and asked him what would have made that and he said "What in the h*ll do you girl talk about on that site?!"

Anyway, I would demand that they come and test the poop. But that's just me. I'm paranoid. I wouldn't be able to rest until I knew for sure. Do you have any pets yourself? If it was a bear I think someone would be missing a cat or dog KWIM?

luvmykids replied: Our bull used to do giant splats like that, so often that we actually started calling them that. "Jeff, there's a splat on the back porch" (We had a funny bull ... long story) Hope that puts your mind at ease a little, any cows in the area?

In my highly uneducated opinion, the fact that it was right next to a pile of dog sh*% leads me to believe that it was from a large dog who first uncorked with pile #1, and then this was the soft serve right behind it. I have a very large dog (close to 100lbs), and I have seen her produce MASSIVE piles, just like that.
We have lots of bear and deer up here, and it looks nothing like their poop (deer poop looks like piles of chocolate covered peanuts, and bear poop looks like, well, bear poop).
OMG, I can't believe there are places online to investigate what different kinds of animal crap looks like! What did we ever do before there was an internet?

My3LilMonkeys replied: I second the opinion that it can't be bear poop. It just doesn't look like it.

I would say cow or large dog with intestinal difficulties.

Lol my 80 pound dog can push out some pretty big piles too... and he usually goes in three different places when we take him out. So it isn't unreasonable at all to believe that a huge dog who got into some leftovers or garbage decided to use your lawn to get rid of it.

I have been laughing so hard... you all crack me up. I was expecting this post to be a fun puzzle type game. LOL! I am clueless as to where it came from, but the thread was pretty darn entertaining. Geeesh, what did people do before the internet and Google to find out what was in their back yard?
