Question?????(a little long) - really don't know what to do....(pics)
punkeemunkee'smom wrote: I need your help. Our Girlscout unit was in the 4th of July parade yesterday (fun! It rained the whole time but Tay loved waving! I will post pics later)Anywho in asking my troop to participate I mentioned I was making flip flops for Tay and decorating a shirt and that the girls were to wear red/white or blue shirts. One of the moms (the only other girl from my troop that came) asked me if I could pick up a shirt for her daughter. I already had Taylor's shirt but whatever so I did. Then she asked if I could do flip flops for her daughter too-and then her younger daughter and herself. I told her that she would have to pay for the materials and IF I had time I would do it (these requests all came on Monday) I even called her WHILE I was out telling her prices of ribbon and flip flops etc. She still wanted them done. I stayed up ALL night on Monday night working on her flip flops and kids shoes and did shirts on Tuesday. They are not hard but time consuming and I wasn't going to charge her for time-even though I do have a business that I do this for $$$ Anyway jump to yesterday...she loved the stuff-her kids and herself wore everything (I even did hair things for her girls 4 free). Well she was supposed to pay me yesterday-(she rode with us to save gas$$$) which was perfectly fine...but anyway no $$$ yesterday. I told her I would call her today to get a check. I broke the cost of materials down for her. For 3 pairs of flip flops and a decorated original shirt total was 33.50. She still owes me for a floozie coozie she bought from me which I usually sell for $10 but gave to her for $6. So when I said to even us out it was going to be $39.50 she was like WHAT I thought you said it was going to be about $6 in ribbon-yes and $3.50 for the shoes...I actually gave her a huge break from what I know I can (and DO) get for the boutique things I make....Anyway how would you handle it and IYO is this too much $$$? Like I said I am not charging her for time. I went and bought all the stuff for her family just because I thought we were friends and I wanted the girls to look cute Here are the pics...sorry they are blurry

Mommy2Isabella replied: IMHO ... that is CHEAP!!! I do some of that crafty stuff myself, never tried selling it, but have made some stuff and it isn't cheap to make it.
BTW: The stuff turned out GREAT, so cute!
A&A'smommy replied: Yeah I agree she is getting a GREAT deal!!!!
Boo&BugsMom replied: I agree. If she would have went out and bought all that stuff herself, pre-made, she would have spent a lot more. You're giving her a bargain, IMO. It's not like it's just for one person either...it's for her and her children.
grapfruit replied: Did you give her an invoice?? I mean come on, 3 shirts, plus lots of ribbon and 3 pairs of shoes? You don't think it's going to be close to $40??? Please. She sounds like she's trying to get something for nothing. And like you said, you spent a lot of TIME on those cute projects Tell her if she wants to complain about the price you'll be more then happy to add the labor charges in.
stella6979 replied: I absolutely agree. Sounds to me like she's trying to take advantage of your "friendship".
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I'd just tell her that you thought you were doing her a favor doing it at cost because of your friendship, but if she'd rather an invoice, it would be XX.XX$ amount.
Sam & Abby's Mom replied: I agree with the others. It does seem she is trying to get something for nothing. If she has the nerve to try to take advantage of you,,,,,,,,,,,,,then dont feel bad for having the nerve to charge her what it cost you to make the items. KWI ? You are giving her a GREAT deal and deserve to recoup AT LEAST your cost,,,,,,,,,,and then some !
BTW--awesome job !
MoonMama replied: I agree with what the others have said too. That is WAY cheap for all that stuff, esp. the time you put into it. That was so sweet of you too do for her and her kids. I hope you get things resolved! Such cute stuff!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I totally agree with what everyone else said. Show her what you typically charge on an invoice and then compare it to the price you are charging her. She can't expect you to give her all that product for just the small price of ribbon and flip flops. $40 is nothing for all of that. She just sounds SUPER cheap IMO. If she doesn't pay up, I would seriously just break off the friendship.
moped replied: So what does she want to pay for all that???
stella6979 replied: If I read correctly.....$6.00.
Calimama replied: I agree with everyone else, it's a great price for great products. She should be grateful that you even spent the time.
gr33n3y3z replied: that is cheap shesh I would be thankful for all the work you did and hand over the money
My3LilMonkeys replied: Personally, I would expect to pay at least $10 for the flip flops and $15 for shirts (Love them!!!), times 3 people is $75, which means I think she's getting a great deal.
Farelle replied: I agree wtih everyone else. Give her a receipt for what you spent and point out what you didn't charge her for. She got a deal, those look great!!!
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Exactly what I was thinking. Your work is beautiful, Abby. And she's trying to get it for next to nothing. Well, nuts to that.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Thanks ya'll! I really enjoy making stuff like this I have tried to call her several times today and she hasn't answered the phone or called me back I am thinking about just telling her to give me the stuff back and maybe putting it on ebay or something even after the holiday I know I could get at least materials back that way..... Lesson learned!
Sam & Abby's Mom replied: What a trip !
I hope she either pays you the $40 or gives you the stuff back. sheeeeeeeeeeeesh.
