Question about breaking your water

Should I just wait it out and see if it stops or gets worse? My doctor is an hour away and if I call him he will tell me to come in, I am trying to close out at work for our end of the month finances. Of course, the babeis dont care what we are doing if they are ready to come, But I dont want to leave if I dont absolutely need to since I need all my time off when he comes.

Any suggestions?

Mommy2Isabella replied: If it was your water breaking, it will be a continuous leaking. Each time you get up the fluid will come out. I would make sure it isn't urine or discharge ...

amymom replied: I agree.. have it checked. It is a bit early. They can do a litmus paper test and will know right away if it is amniotic fluid or not. Sometimes the baby adds pressure to your bladder and that leaks, but you need some certainty.

Is the ER closer than the doctor? They may want you to go there. I would call the docs office. Your EOM paper work will wait. I know not what you want to hear.

indywndy_04 replied: well - I have been drinking tons of water today because it is so hot here, maybe it is just urine, thats gross! But, atleast it will be better then water breaking.

I will hang on a little longer to see if he keeps happening. My water has never broken, even when I was 9cm dialated. They had to break it each time, so I bet it isnt that. He better stay in there, he is slow cooking and isnt done yet!

apacer replied: hhmmm...I can't say anything coz i didnt experience that thing when i gave birth to my 2 sons. I felt the contraction but water didnt come out, when they rushed me to the hospital thats when the doctor broke it.

kimberley replied: it is likely just pee. as you get closer to the end of your pg, baby is really pushing on your bladder and your ability to "hold it" lessens. i know first hand with 2 pgs my doc said if it is a constant leak, it may be the water. there are strips to test it. KUP.

indywndy_04 replied: I am so dumb and so out of it that I thought yesterday was Friday so I told you guys that I would let you know next week since I dont get on during the weekends. Well, dummy me thought it was the weekend...LOL

Anyway - I think I am ok, it doesnt seem to be doing it today. Maybe I need to wear a pull up if I am peeing! LOL

indywndy_04 replied: Ok - update. I never called the doctor because it stopped, BUT yesterday I sat up in bed and gush....a lot came out. What the heck. Am I still peeing? It doesnt continuesly come out like I think it should if my water broke. I see my doctor tomorrow, the baby is moving around fine so I guess I will just wait to see what he says. Weird!!!

indywndy_04 replied: It is just a tough call because it isnt continuing, so I really dont know. I feel him moving around so I know he is fine, that is why I am thinking about waiting for the appt tomorrow. I think if it were leaking and leaking and not stoping, then that would be a different story. Ever heard of it coming out and then stopping? Just seems weird like maybe it isnt my water since it is stopping.

Try lying down for awhile and see if anything leaks out while you're lying down ~ if you're standing or sitting up sometimes the pressure of the baby's head down there can block the fluid from coming out. If you are leaking amniotic fluid it would probably start coming out again once you lie down and the baby's head isn't pushing down so hard.

hoosier momma replied: If you really think it might be amniotic fluid, call your doctor. You are risking the health of your baby if your water has been broke for several days. You would be at a very high risk for infection.

Yep - I tried that and nothing happened. I think I am ok, must just be extra discharge or pee or something. It is kind of weird, but I dont think it is amnio fluid. I have put in a call to see what they want me to do, I am just waiting on a call back.
