Question about losing teeth - Jack
moped wrote: So he has had a LOOOOOSE tooth forever, the adult tooth is more than halfway thru and that baby tooth is still there, but the permanent tooth is totally back from the baby one and 100% crooked......anyone have experience with this? I am not thrilled about this!
luvbug00 replied: mya had a "shark tooth" and they ended up pulling it because it was hindering the growth of the adult tooth.

i knew i stored a pic somewhere..anyhoo it was between two teeth and really would have made her a bit of a snaggletooth if it had been allowed to stay.
moped replied: YES it looks like that!!!!!! Interesting....I need to google this
luvbug00 replied: glad it was helpful..yea they just pulled those suckers out and now her teeth are pretty darn straight.
moped replied: I googled it and that is exactly what is going on! Sounds quite common......thank you. He goes to the dentist next Friday......WHEW! Tom was getting all freaked out it!
PrairieMom replied: Ben had that with his bottom two teeth too. the baby teeth were so super wiggly, but they were never going to come out because the perm. teeth were already through and weren't able to push the baby teeth up. My dentist suggested we have them pulled. We did, it was super easy for ben, and his tongue naturally pushed his perm. teeth into correct position. He said if you wait to long the Perm . teeth get to set in for the tongue to move them.
coasterqueen replied: What's his dentist say? Kylie's dentist had her seeing an orthodontist at age 5 for "preventative" measures. So they make sure her teeth are falling out how they should and permanent ones come in like they want them too, etc. He encourages her to pull out ones that take too long to fall out, etc.
moped replied: So just to clarify......do they just pull the wiggly baby tooth or do they pull the tooth that is far back growing???
mom21kid2dogs replied: They pull the baby tooth. Olivia's had several of these. The first one they advised us not to pull but it was in over a year before they pulled it. Generally it is a sign of a small palette. She got a palette expander in January and braces on Monday!!
coasterqueen replied: Yikes! Your poor checkbook. I'm not looking forward to this either. We were threatened about Megan sucking her thumb still and if she continued the dentist was sending us to the ortho to have a fork device put in. There was no way I wanted to start the expense of ortho so we strongly BRIBED Megan to stop sucking her thumb. Kylie's ortho visits are free until they start actually doing something.
A&A'smommy replied: my niece had that problem with several of her teeth, I would take him to the dentist.
mom21kid2dogs replied: Yeah, ouch is right! The best part is when they tell you this is "Round 1" of her ortho experience. We did get 20% off for paying upfront & the fact that Stephen is a current patient there as well.
