Question about male dogs - my neighbors dog is weird!
Bee_Kay wrote: Our golden retriever, Amber, is 3 1/2 years old. When we got her, we put up a chainlink fence so she could have full access to our whole yard (I don't like when dogs are tied up). Amber has been spayed since she was 1 year old.
Anyways, a few weeks ago, my neighbor, went and got a 1 yr old male golden retirever.
When they got him, I brought Amber over there to play.... that dog immediately started "sniffing" her back there.... Amber didn't like it and walked away. So then, he starts chasing her around the yard trying to hump her. Amber got p*ssed and kept running away from him...... the male dog was following her while doing humping motions while he was walking after her
So, I'm like "OK, Amber's going back home."
The next day, DH lets him in our yard to play. We immediately found out he doesn't know "fetch". He won't give the doggy toys back, he takes them into HIS yard and growls and becomes aggressive at Amber if she tries getting them back.
So, he had to go back home and I decide the gate stays shut!
Now..... whenever Amber is outside and she goes anywhere near the side of the fence that he is on...... He tries p*ssing on her!!!!!!
Seriously, Amber will be walking around over there... and he immediately runs up and lifts his leg and squirts at her through the fence!!!
Anyone know why he would do that??? I've heard of male dogs "marking territory", but to actually try and pee ON her??? So, if Amber is outside, and I see him coming towards her I call Amber back away from him or he will soak her!!
TheOaf66 replied: maybe he is just a scorned man, that is how he is dealing with his anger
aspenblue1 replied: Sounds like dominance to me also probably a little of marking his territory.
jaytrevjax replied: Has her dog been "fixed"? It almost sounds like he is in "heat" (although I don't know if male dogs go in "heat") Maybe he is just "Attracted" to her and wants her for himself!
3xsthefun replied: Sounds like he is just trying to be dominant over her.
My inlaws dog (is a son of my dog Ginger) and when we take her out to their house. He is always trying to hump her and he has been neutered and she has been spayed.
Bee_Kay replied: No, he isn't neutered.....
OMG!!! the weirdest thing happened.... (actually I noticed it a few times)
I was out mowing my lawn this afternoon (trying to beat the storm that is going on now).... anyways....
I have seen this a few times and it really weirds me out...
I was out mowing the lawn and Amber was out there with me, just wandering around the yard. The neighbors dog was standing on his side of the fence, just watching.
So I glance over.... and his "thing" was hanging out He wasn't doing anything, just standing there. Ewwwww.
I was thinking "WTF is with this dog???" Is he just perpetually horny?? and the thing is.... Amber is spayed, so she doesn't have that "scent" thing going on!!!
CantWait replied: Sounds like he's a dominent dog. As for being fixed, doesn't make a difference with my dog. He still likes to sniff and hump the females also And nasty yes, when I brush him his wiener hangs out also
Bee_Kay replied: LOL!
I am so glad when I got Amber, that I chose her, not her brother!!
holley79 replied: My MIL's male dog is always TTing on her female dog. Humping her and everything. She's fixed he isn't. Peanut (my dog) is always trying to get Gypsy and she's fixed. I think boys in general are just weird.
luvbug00 replied: He isn't nutered he's gonna hump and spray every creature, this includeds people, stay away from him when aunt flo visits!!!!! he'll hump you to death! seriously!
Bee_Kay replied: Yeah.... male dogs make me un-easy... LOL!! I think I'll stick with keeping the gate shut all the time!!
OMG! If he tried humping on ME I'd probably give him a good kick in the nuts!! LMAO! I think that would stop him like RIGHT NOW!!
luvmykids replied: Horses do this too, you think a dogs is ugly ....
I had a dog that would literally pee on anything and anyone when the mood struck, from tires to the mailman.
mom21kid2dogs replied: Sounds like a male dog to me. We've had several and they will pee to mark their territory and hump anything if it interests them. BTW, they'll hump and pee whether they are neuterd or not. The dog we neuterd the earliest humped the worst of all our male dogs. My vet's favorite mantra is "Altering your dog only prevents parenthood, period." Female dogs are known to hump as well so having a female doesn't always mean you'll never have to deal with it. Gotta love dogs!!!
Monica~ITA about the horse comments~HOLY COW!!!
ashtonsmama replied: Who the heck knows. Our two Labs do wierd things all the time, but not that.
