Question for btdt moms

Mom2Boyz wrote: What is the best sunblock for babies? Since it's getting warmer here, and Summer is just around the corner, I know we'll be spending a fair amount of time outdoors.
Just curious which one works best for you.

jem0622 replied: First...no sunblock unless they are over six months of age.

I prefer Water Babies or a knock off of it b/c it is usually non stinging and then I have the stick sunscreen for the face.

Don't forget a hat! And I usually make the boys wear t-shirts at the beach/pool b/c no amount of sunscreen keeps the rays away.

MomToMany replied: I use Baby Magic baby sunblock on their arms and legs and the rest of their body. You're usually supposed to wait a half-hour before taking them outside with other sunblock, but this stuff works right away, and it's not as slimy as the other kinds can be. On their face, I use the Water Babies stick sunblock and rub it in really good.

Just my opinion, but this is what works for us. I HATE seeing little kids with sunburns. It's SO easy to prevent them, just a lack of caring on the parents part. I'm paranoid about this, and with the boys at their dads for most of the summer ( bawling.gif bawling.gif bawling.gif ), I really worry about it. Of course he doesn't care about it, so they come back all tanned from being burned bawling.gif bawling.gif bawling.gif . It makes me SO MAD, especially when it's SO preventable!!

Boys r us replied: I also use waterbabies and then the face stick on their faces! That stick is a life saver!

amynicole21 replied: For babies with just a little hair, I found this spray on sunblock at Babies R Us (Baby Blanket Scalp Spray) that is designed for their scalp! It's a bit oily, but works great wink.gif A hat is better protection, obviously, but my little monster goes through spurts where she refuses to wear one rolleyes.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: water babies is the one I will use most this year espically with our pool, I ned to find the stick for her face and get a few hats for her as well.

jem0622 replied: I forgot to mention...when both the boys were small enough I got long sleeved onesies from Carters and they wore one out at the beach w/ a hat on. It really helped protect them. Now I just use t-shirts. I've also used those little beach robes (terry cloth) to keep them covered and I had no trouble with them keeping it on. I do burn easily so I tend to stay away.

Hope you find a solution that works for you!

MylittlePaige replied: Water Babies is what we used last year as well. The stick is great too bc you can throw it in the diaper bag, purse or even your pocket if you are on the go.

We have problems keeping hats on Paige as well and I worry because my skin is so sensitive and I burn so easily. Old Navy and Gap both carry thin hats that have straps that go under their chins and are fastened with velcro-they have been a livesaver for us-just an idea!

Kaitlin'smom replied:
oooo thanks for the tip I am going to check out the website and see what i can find, I need to get her some, all the ones from last year are to small rolleyes.gif

ediep replied: we got the new one...I think its called spectra.

MommyToAshley replied: I like water babies too.

Has anyone tried the water baby sunscreen "wipes"? I think I might get some to put in her diaper bag for those days that she might need some reapplied when we are out.

coasterqueen replied:
We've tried the wipes and like them. Not sure what brand it is but we use them a lot. We also use water babies. Haven't tried the stick, I think I''ll have to do that.

I just wish Kylie could get tan without getting a sun burn. wink.gif I would really like to know if she has white white skin like me or tan like her dad.

kimberley replied: we use bain de soleil for kids.

booey2 replied: Our brand has already been mentioned so I just wanted to say that to stay away from the coloured sun blocks cause they can stain your hands purple. tongue.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I use Hawaiian Tropic Baby Faces SPF 50. This seems to work well with Jade. She generally doesn't burn, but I like the precaution. It might be different because you can be out in the sun here all year round, but Jade hasn't gotten a sunburn yet.

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I found this article in one of my news letters. It doesn't say a specific sunblock, but it gives you an idea what to look for.
