Question for you BF mommies

Kaitlin'smom wrote: This is kinda a weird one wink.gif Do you sleep in your bra? Ever since I got home from the hospital I have being wearing one all the time (except when showering). I guess I am afraid of leaking. Well last night I could not take it anymore and slept with out! redbounce.gif It was sooooo nice! Told you it was a weird one wacko.gif blink.gif

supermom replied: Nah, it's not so wierd......with my first, I got really, really engorged and had AMPLE milk ALL of the time (or at least it seems that way!). I wore a bra like you, almost 24-7 for about the first 6 mos. Then, when things evened out a bit, I stopped wearing one to bed.

However, with the next two, I didn't become quite so engorged and full all of the time, so I quit wearing one to bed at about 2-3 mos.

With Anders, I hardly had that full feeling at all. I don't know if it was my age, or what, but I never got even hardly full with him when my milk came in. I know I had plenty, because he was exclusively BF until 6 mos and was definately NOT FTT.....

But I quit wearing a bra to bed at about 2 weeks with him.......but I did sleep with one of those "baby" waterproof pads (the large size) all the way underneath the fitted sheet so if I did happen to leak, I wouldn't soak the mattress, just the sheets smile.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: thanks supermom thats a good idea to put that under the fitted sheet, I will go buy some this weekend, so I can stop wearing them to bed! Yippy! redbounce.gif

MommyToAshley replied: I wear one just about 24-7. It is more for comfort than fear of leaking. I am at least 2-3 bra sizes bigger now that I am nursing and if I don't wear a bra, it really puts a strain on them. haha.

MomToMany replied: wavey.gif

wink.gif I wear one 24/7, except in the shower. I'm on the *large* side, and I need them to have some sort of support! I find it's really comfortable wearing one all the time, but that's my opinion! I was leaking pretty bad in the beginning, but not at all now, but I still wear one all the time.

wink.gif I know what you mean, Dee Dee!

Kaitlin'smom replied: I am also on the large side but sometimes they just need a break from the confinement! ohmy.gif

dhoppygirl replied: I also wear one 24/7 and they are really missing their freedom!!! I mostly wear one at night to protect against leakage..even now after 6.5 months I still tend to leak at night...in addition I am about 2 bra sizes bigger than I used to be and when I am done nursing I would like to have breasts that are considered somewhat perky since I am still in my 20s!!!! rolling_smile.gif
Ohh the good ol' days of sleeping bra-less!

Schnoogly replied: Wow I must be the odd one--but there's low milk supply for you. I almost never wear a bra unless I'm leaving the house. And I'm a DD cup (was D before PG). So they sag a little wub.gif O well. It's easier to whip 'em out for feeding. I did wear one during the day until about 3 weeks, but that is probably because I spent 12 hours a day at the hospital. I bought lots of washable breast pads before he was born too and have never used most of them! I just don't leak anymore, and used to only leak when I was really really engorged (like after 7 hours w/o pumping). But that's probably another signal of my low supply. sad.gif Boo hoo.

Joannerobinm replied: I wore one 24/7 for the first 3 months...now I just where one like I used too. I do still leak at night sometimes but I just can't stand the idea of sleeping in a bra anymore. *My trick* is to take a burp cloth ( I use cloth diapers) fold it in 3rds and wrap that around my chest. I where a snug t-shirt to bed so it will stay in place. Its a lot more comfortable.

Kaitlin'smom replied: thanks all its nice to knwo I am not the only on wearing it 24/7! but since she is a night eater I seem to be pretty empty by the time I go to bed. I am not leaking anymore at night, well not for a long while. So Ia m gonna try sleeping with out. I just can stand it anymore! I love BF but hate wearing the bra!

msjennbug replied: I do, and have for 8yrs now. But I have special sleeping bras. Either a bravado or a really worn out regular one smile.gif

I'm also on the over-endowed side and well, they get squished if I don't!

casmi replied: Oh, the first 6mo I have to wear a bra constantly. I have so much milk, I could nurse an army of babies, and I leak all the time. I got some wonderful wool nursing pads that work like magic though. It is so nice to be able to actually sleep with out a bra on. I have a couple of great sleep bras, but being free just can't be beat!!!

mckayleesmom replied: I bought a sports bra from Walmart that doesn't have an underwire, It is really comfortable and I am big chested so its hard to find a good bra, but that is what I have been wearing. It was only like 6 dollars too.

eiramitak replied: I think for the first few weeks I wore one, but once my milk regulated I stopped.

I don't wear a bra ever- unless we're going out... and I don't mean just to the stre LOL I mean to dinner or something. I hate them. wink.gif
