Quick...Need to throw something together
luvmykids wrote: for dinner....I have ham (already cooked, probably about half of it left), spinach, mozzarella cheese, pasta or rice.....
I was going to do scalloped potatos and ham but didn't realize how long it took to bake, plus I don't have any cheddar.
Any suggestions? Can I do a pasta bake type thing with the ham, spinach and cheese? Do those flavors work together?
AlexsPajamaMama replied:
Sounds super yummy Id do that!!
luvmykids replied: Can I use cream of mushroom soup for a "sauce"? Or just some milk, or what? I am SO not good without a recipe
My3LilMonkeys replied: Sounds good to me!
Or maybe grilled ham & cheese sandwiches with spinach? Ooh - I wonder if I have the stuff to make grilled cheese....
luvmykids replied: LOL
I'm out of bread Matter of fact, I'm out of everything but ham, spinach, and mozzarella
AlexsPajamaMama replied: I bet cream of mushroom would be yummy
grilled cheese with spinach sounds real good too I might have to make that tomorrow
Calimama replied: 1-800-Domino's pizza.
Sorry I'm no help. The ideas you got sound good.
luvmykids replied: I wish....we only have a little mom and pop pizza joint, it's awesome....when they feel like being open
MommyToAshley replied: If you have any eggs, it sounds like the perfect making for a quiche. But, I have never made one myself so I don't know what else goes into it. Where's Rae when we need her. LOL.
kit_kats_mom replied: I would cook the pasta and then put some oil in a skillet. Shape the pasta into the skillet and kind of fry it like a pancake until it's crispy.
heat up some milk in a pan, add some flour, butter and then the cheese to make a white cheese sauce then add the chopped ham and spinich (some onion if you have any)pour that over the spaghetti shell and eat up.
if you do have eggs, you can just put the cooked spaghetti into a bowl, mix up a couple of eggs, a bit of milk and the cheese (it should be mostly eggs and cheese but kind of runn), ham and spinich (again some onion if you've got it) and pop it into the oven until firm.
MommyToAshley replied: Ok, I was curious so I looked for quiche recipes
Here's one that looks easy and got good reviews: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Ham-and-Chees...che/Detail.aspx
I bet you could substitute the moz for the swiss cheese and it'd still be yummy. Now, I want to try to make it. LOL
ETA: Ooops, I just saw that the ingredients call for a pastry shell. I don't know what you'd do about that. I have had quiche without the pastry shell before, but again I have no idea how to make it. I am not helping much again, am I?
If you have eggs, I'd just make a ham, spinache and cheese omlette. LOL
luvmykids replied: LOL Dee Dee, on all counts
I actually keep a box of the premade pie shells ready for emergencies
Thanks for all the ideas guys....I cooked the pasta, added cubed ham and the Campbells Select Portobello Mushroom soup, mixed in a little of the cheese and put a little more on top...baked it for a bit. It was suprisingly good, I kept the spinach on the side only b/c I was afraid that would ruin it for the kids but they suprised me and ate all their spinach Served it with some of my fresh baked sourdough bread and had fresh from the oven peanut butter cookies for dessert ....figured I could put my figuring out dinner time to good use
Calimama replied: Yummy!! Can't even tell you had no clue what to make...
luvmykids replied:
I need to get my fanny to the store...this is the third night in a row I've had to pull off a meal like that
MommyToAshley replied: MMMM, sounds yummy! You did good! I am not very good without a detailed recipe, as was evident by my attempt to help. LOL
luvmykids replied: I can't do anything without a recipe....and I actually did a quick search but nothing sounded good. I knew you guys would bail me out
btw-That soup is excellent, I HATE regular canned creamy soups but this one tasted almost homemade
CantWait replied: I agree.
Or an omelete.
