Quick help please
PrairieMom wrote: My sister lost her Drivers liscense and needs to get a new one tomorrow morning. What does she need? a birth certificate? will a Social security card be enough? will she have to re-test? anyone know?
Jamison'smama replied: No driving test needed. She'll need 2 forms of government ID--SS and Birth Certificate are what I have taken. If she's married and her married name is not on her SS card, she'll need her marriage license too.
PrairieMom replied: Okay. well, here is the problem, she is here visiting from Vegas, so she doesn't have a birth certificate with her. So, now what?
My3LilMonkeys replied: If she lives in Nevada, I don't think she could get a new driver's license until she went back to Nevada anyway.
PrairieMom replied: the liscense she lost is a SD liscense. She doesn't have a nevada liscense.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Ok, I get it now.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: When I lost my driver's license I didn't have to bring anything with me to get a new one. I live in MN - I don't know what the laws are there. Although maybe since she isn't in her home state it might be different.
mummy2girls replied: well when i lost mine all i did was go in with either my birth certificate or social insurance card and they regave it to me for a fee of i think it was 25 bucks. but thats in canada im not sure how it is in the states.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Here in Florida, when I lost mine (refound it so I have two now) I did not have to bring anything with me but $15 for a new one, and a smile for a new pic.
It may be different for each state.
luvmykids replied: Here you used to have to have birth certificates, etc but now just something (even a paycheck stub) with your social and something with your address, like a utility bill. They store the pics in the system now so even if you don't have anything they can look you up and then they verify your identity by asking all kinds of questions about your credit report.
PrairieMom replied: Thanks guys. We had her boyfriend fax us a copy of her birth certificate last night, so we now have 2 forms of ID. Now the only worry is will they give her a SD drivers liscense if she doesn't have a SD address? We are leaving for the DMV in just a few min. She is kinda fiesty, so this should be interesting!
PrairieMom replied: We got the ID! turns out that a faxed copy of a birth certificate won't work. They said we could use a pay stub, and a few other things that you would never carry in your purse, let alone take on vacation with you. But the lady felt bad for her, so she hooked her up with an ID anyway. The best part is that the old ID was going to expire in november, so my sister was going to have to go to the Vegas DMV, but her new one won't expire till 2011, so really she killed 2 birds with one stone!
