Raisens?
ammommy wrote: I am a fairly laid back parent, but for some reason raisens scare the poop out of me. When did you give your kids raisens for the first time? With Alec, I waited until he was 2-2.5 because I was sure he would choke and die (silly, I know). Megan seems really interested in them, but I'm not sure if I should let her eat them.
mommy2owen replied: We tried them with Alyssa when she was a little under 2 and she hated them.
mummy2girls replied: when jenna was around 18 months i did with her. I just had to keep a close eye on her because she loves to stuff. I swear Jenna thinks that her meal will be the last meal. so she eats lots and really fast
bwalkerletters replied: Yeah, Maddie is 19 months old, and she LOVES raisins. I let her have them but I do keep a good eye on her. The do scare me a little too.
ediep replied: Jason was about 18-20 months whe i first gave him raisins. I try not to give him them that often because they give him major gas and poops.
kimberley replied: Jacob and James were about 2yo and hated them. haven't tried with Jade yet.
Isabelita replied: Same with Danny. She gets very bad gas with grapes or raisins or apricots.
I think Danny was around 2 when she had raisins for the first time.
JAYMESMOM replied: we havent done raisins but we do ppcorn which the dr says jayme is too young for but she loves it!
ian'smommy replied: Ian loves raisins...I have let him have them, but I watch the amount I give because he tends to shove them in his mouth one after another swallowing them whole. The first time he had raisins he had major runs afterward so I stopped that for awhile. Now he gets them occasionally again. I just make sure I am in the room when he has anything like that. Or for that matter, any food at all. I've had to pound his back a few times to dislodge a piece of food that he didn't chew enough. I know it can be scary. I think as long as you keep a good eye on her, she should be just fine.
MommyToAshley replied: I guess I am just paranoid, I still haven't given them to Ashley because I am afraid of her choking. She loves all other fruit (and veggies) so I figure she isn't really missing out.
daddy2three replied: as posted before, we tried them with alyssa a little before her second birthday and she absoutley HATED them. With Owen it will probably be a totaly diffrent story!
3_call_me_mama replied: OMG if Cameron couldn't eat raisins he would DIE! He LOVES them. He's been eating them since he was about 15 months old. HE's never choked on them (and he likes to stuff his mouth) and eats them actually every day. They are kinda gross when he used to wear diapers and they came out....(I won't describe but they return to their original state) I've actually never had a child choke on them (and I've cared for a lot of children) but popcorn is a totally different story. Because it is dry adn the hulls easily get stuck in their throat. Cameron had that young too but we were very cautious to give him one piece at a time and to give hims drink with it. But i think everyone should go with your gut. If you feel your child is ready, try it. If you feel they should wait, then wait.
A&A'smommy replied: oops well Alyssa has been eating them since she was 12 months old She absolutly LOVES them!
