PrairieMom wrote: Can you eat corn on the cob raw?

I have to ask because I swear that Jase on Big Brother was last night. he had the husks still attached to the cob, and they were still green, so it hadn't been roasted. I have never heard of this. we always boil ours.

moped replied: No way!!!!!

I barely eat corn on the cob because I had one GROSS experience

gr33n3y3z replied: yes you can eat it raw wink.gif
but I like mine cooked

C&K*s Mommie replied: You can. But I like mine heated up a little though (in the micro) at the very least, if not then boiled.

PrairieMom replied: do people actually DO that tho? I mean I know you won't die from it if you eat it raw, but I just figured it was a vegi that needed cooked ya know? Like a potato. you don't eat those raw do you? huh.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: blink.gif puke.gif At least I would have the husks taken off. unsure.gif

PrairieMom replied: i mean they were peeled off, but still attatched at the bottom. blush.gif laugh.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: oh I get it. I have done that. But it was fresh corn from the farmers market, not cold or anything, but still room temp.

gr33n3y3z replied:
I eat raw potato's and green bean, lima beans (raw only) Cooked no way
oh the list goes on
Some Veggies are better raw for you bc when you cook them you loose nutrients

redplaydoh replied: You CAN eat it raw... depends on how desparate you are I guess...

Maybe he ate it roasted. I roast mine on the grill inside their husks and peel them just before eating. Usually I boil mine though.

PrairieMom replied:
I thought that too, but the huscks were still green. I have DVR so I watched it a few times to make sure. laugh.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied:
I LOVE raw potatoes!!! I cut them up and sprinkle salt on them!!! Not corn though.

PrairieMom replied:

Boo&BugsMom replied:
Hubby/Troy likes sour kraut too... puke.gif I thinks it's totally gross! His mom even makes these rice balls with sour kraut on them...GAG!!!

Boo&BugsMom replied: Oh, I like raw baby corn though. Those are good!

gr33n3y3z replied:
I really see no big deal with eating anything raw but meats
Its not about being desparate its what you prefer.
since whats his name likes raw corn and I like raw veggies were desparate?

CantWait replied: Well since the question has been answered I won't answer, however I did think though that eating raw potatoes and raw corn that you could have some digestive problems. I guess not though.

coasterqueen replied: I agree w/Lisa that we lose a lot of nutrients when cooking many vegetables. The reason I, and many problem find it yucky that some eat certain veggies raw is because it's that we've eaten it a certain way for so long, kwim. Even though I would not like to eat raw corn, not sure why, probably because it was always prepared cooked for me, I still see it no different than someone eating a raw carrot. dunno.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
Exactly! thumb.gif

I don't like raw corn..I've had it raw and I don't like the texture of it, but raw veggies are much better for you (as Lisa stated in her post) wink.gif

redchief replied: Eating silver queen corn moments after it's cut is a treat.

PrairieMom replied:
not if you like it that way. smile.gif

jaytrevjax replied: I work at a grocery store, and when the corn is in season, we have one of the UTA (sorry, Utah Transit Authority) bus drivers come in every night and buys 2 ears and eats them on his break. He says it is so much better raw then cooked. He says it has a lot more flavor, which I can see, because doesn't boiling take some of the flavor away from foods? And, I love raw potatoes with salt! Sooo GOOD!
