Raygen might be diabetic

lisar wrote: We get to the dr and Raygen gives them a urine sample and after they did a few things it comes back to where the dr thinks she has diabetes (sp?) So I had to take her to the place they take blood and they are doing 6 different test on her blood checking for diabetes. I should have the results back in 72 hours. I will let yall know as soon as I hear back from them.

amymom replied: ohmy.gif

Wow! I hope not.

I am praying for you. and her!

cameragirl21 replied: oh gosh, Lisa, I really hope they come back negative. Was her sugar high in her urine? How high, do you know? I think anything over 150 is considered high.
Was she fasting? Or did she have something very sweet prior?
The symptoms of diabetes are telltale--sudden weight loss, tired and sluggish all the time, always thirsty and always having to pee...a diabetic child may literally be in the bathroom every five minutes.
Please keep us posted and I'll keep Raygen in my thoughts and prayers. hug.gif

lisar replied:
Yea I know all the signs and symptoms cause I am border line. I just have to really watch what I eat and my intakes. it runs in my family and we arent sure about dh's family cause he is adopted

~Roo'sMama~ replied: hug.gif hug.gif I'm sorry Lisa! I hope it turns out that she is not. My 2 year old niece was diagnosed last summer and my sister and BIL have had a horrible time with it. hug.gif

lisar replied: Sings of Juvenile Diabetes in a 3 year old are

Bed wetting - which she does, and I always thought it was because of her age

Extreme hunger and thirst- she always has a drink so I am not sure about this one

Fatigue and Weakness- again not sure, when she is tired she is REALLY tired though

Vision is blured- I really dont know she seems so see just fine

frequent vaginal yeast infections- she has had one of those for a month now that we havent been able to get rid of. I always blamed on the fact that she likes to play with herself, which it could still be that right?

irritable, restless, or have trouble concentrating at school.- yeap thats her allright, but like I said I blame all this on her age

Sugar in the urine- yeap she has that, thats why she is being tested

vomiting or nausea can occur sometimes, the symptoms are mistaken as those of a virus or flu----- she did vomit this morning and I thought she had that virus and the dr didnt think she had that virus and neither do I because she is JUST FINE now.

Okay please tell me that I am over reacting.

Okay I think I can officially freak out now.

cameragirl21 replied: hug.gif Try not to freak out and try to think positive. It could also be a freak thing...I've had high sugar in my urine before and it resolved itself for the next test and turned out to be nothing.
And you're very unlikely to see chronic kidney failure at her age. hug.gif

lisar replied:
I know all this, but I just think about the things and what it could be and it just freaks me out. Literally.

My2Beauties replied: hug.gif OMG PT's for you hon. Please KUP! hug.gif

Calimama replied: I hope the tests come back negative!!!!! I'll keep you guys in my prayers!!

Boo&BugsMom replied: Lisa, did they take her blood? In order to more accurately diagnose diabetes, they need to do blood work.

Here is some info. Might be handy.

I hope everything will be ok. However, Diabetes is VERY treatable these days. A lot of people in my family have it as well, and I am probably destined to have it later in life given I already have hypoglycemia along with the family history. And if that is the answer, then perhaps this will help her with other issues you pointed out...at least it will be an answer to what she does certain things. Good luck!!! Keep up posted. hug.gif

MoonMama replied: Oh no! hug.gif hug.gif She's in my prayers, KUP! hug.gif hug.gif

lisar replied:
Yes they took blood, lots of it to. I have a 72 hour wait for the results. And I have already passed 24 hours so 48 more to go. I have done ALOT of research on it in the last 24 hours also.

amymom replied: if anything very, very serious was going on she would be in the hospital. So remember that and know that whatever it is you will deal with it and take care of your little one. I know it will be ok. hug.gif hug.gif

lisar replied:
yea I know that and I keep telling myself that. If it were really serious she would be in the hospital.

thanks for the reminder, it helps

lisar replied: hug.gif Sissy it will be ok. What ever the test say we can deal with it. We have been through alot of stuff in our life. And we only get stronger from it. I know she is your biologically but she is mine also. So I am just as worried also. But you have to stop thinking the worse. You are gonna make yourself sick and she is going to be able to tell something is wrong with you and she is gonna get cranky and you will think the worse from everything you have read.
It could just be a freak out in her body from her throwing up. Who knows.....

austins mom replied:
this is from me.. you logged in my computer and it saved your info...

lisar replied:
Well your dh took to long fixing my computer

Boo&BugsMom replied: When do you find out Lisa??? Soon?

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Lisa I hope you know something by now. I just want you to know how sensitive those pee sticks can become. Technically they are supposed to be opened in the dark, kept cool, and not exposed to humidity....they can and do go bad qnd can give false readings. Let us know as soon as you hear something! Still praying for Raygen! hug.gif
