Real or Artificial - Christmas Tree

We have an artificial tree b/c DH is allergic. But, I do love the smell of the real tree.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: We have an aritficial tree that I bought on the clearance after Christmas for $12.00! It's regularly $75.00 and I love that I don't have to clean up anymore pine needles!
Jamison'smama replied: We have several artificial trees--just easier. We did real ones for years and we still do some real wreathes and garland for the smell but it was just too much to have a real tree. We decorate several trees--one main one, one for the porch with outdoor ornaments and one for the family room with the Hallmark ornaments--sports etc. I do love the smell of real trees though.

5littleladies replied: We have an artificial one. We tried to do real last year but it was a huge pain!! Too many pine needles and the cat climbed up in it and knocked the darn thing over after we had taken over an hour to get it to stand up straight. I miss the smell of real ones though.
paradisemommy replied: artificial here with all plastic ornaments (that look like glass) so ds won't break them all..i agree with you all though..i soooo miss the smell of a real one!!
MommyToAshley replied: Artificial one here too. I am thinking about using all plastic bulbs this year, but we will see.
My2Carebears replied: we have An artufical tree. Its so much easier and then you don't have then nasty pine needles...lol
mummy2girls replied: Because i live in an partment i am not allowed to have a real tree for fire safety. Si i will have to get a artificial. I wont get one this year because jenna is still at a stage of grabbing things and throwing them and popping things in her mouth. And i just feel safer if i wait another year. I will be decorating the place in other decorations though
CantWait replied: I love real trees also, but we have a fake one
MomToMany replied: Artificial here, too. I can't stand pine needles all over the floor.
Heather replied: Artificial here too..>LOL YAY save the trees!!
jdkjd replied: I'm probably going to have an artificial tree but last year I got real pine garland from a nursery and put it on the mantle, so I have the good smell too.
coasterqueen replied: We have an artificial one. DH hates the mess of a real one and because of my allergies he won't let us have one I could put up with my allergies for a month, lol.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I had a real tree only ONE year. Never again..... the hassle it was to bring in and out was atrocious. AND....to make matters worse, I had no clue what I was doing, so I brought it in, put it in the planter, and started decorating it. I had put the lights on it, and I had done about 80% of all other decorations...and then i realized that the tree was falling apart, because I hadn't let the branches settle before putting everything on them.... so of course i had to start over. I had sap or whatever that stickhy crap is all over my arms, face, clothe4s..... NEVER AGAIN.
AND....my cat got into the tree around New Years....and pulled it down. The mess of needles was horrible....NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!
Shooter replied: Real tree here (looks like I'm the odd MAN out..LOL). I love the smell of them, I think it's more of a hassle to disassemble and store fake ones (plus their needles get all smashed and bent), and it takes me all of about 5 minutes with the vacuum to pick up the needles (plus, then my vacuum has a nice pine smell). It's kind of a pain to mess with the watering and finding one that looks "just right", but I grew up with real trees and hope to continue that trend in the future.
kimberley replied: artificial here too. made that same mistake one yr of getting a real tree and it was an awful mess. lysol comes in pine scent... that's good enough for me
chloe&tysmommy replied: we have an artificial tree
Shooter replied: For those considering a real tree, to make the disposal of the tree easier and less mess, if you have an old queen or king size sheet available or a tarp, you can place the trunk base in the center of it and bring the sides up all around to help catch any loose needles (kind of a two person operation as one has to hold the sheet at the top of the tree) as you haul it out. Now, if you have a tree that's like 12 feet tall, obviously this might not work as well.
5littleladies replied: lol!! Sounds good to me!!
Guest_jcc64 replied: We have always had a real tree. We usually cut it down ourselves. Lots of fun, many great memories!
kit_kats_mom replied: Usually artificial...this year none. Katherine is just too curious and we don't really have a good place for it in the house right now anyway. Once we move, I'd like to start a tradition of cutting or getting one ourselves. I remember doing that as a kid and I loved it.
MommyToAshley replied: I fixed the tag that was causing the problem but you may still want to edit your siggy.
