Remember our Tile Debacle with Lowes?

Original kitchen when we bought the house
kit_kats_mom replied: The new (messed up) tile with the new paint. Ok, this is actually in the entryway, but we painted the kitchen the same color.
kit_kats_mom replied: And the new color. I think it warms up the place and it still flows well with the grey in the living room and dining room. I'm still trying to come up with some creative treatment for the soffits. I hated the wall paper the original owners had up. DH nixed my idea for writing kitchen words in script and also my idea of retro ladies cooking and doing womanly things.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the kitchen color! I agree the soffits need something. Maybe you could just sponge paint it with some coordinating colors. I saw a wall that was done with feather painting and it looked really cool. I wouldn't do an entire wall with it, but it would look great as an accent. It was subtle but made the wall really stand out.

On the soffit~~~ How about hanging some plates up there. every few feet or so. My Mom  had that in her kitchen so I am kind of partial to it.

I know DH nixed it but if you decide to go for it anyway with the retro ladies idea, I have a whole box of vintage product cookbooks and I'm scanning the covers, printing them out and framing them for the kitchen. If you want I can email you some, it's a very cool look!

What about putting up some mosaic tile up there as "art"? just break up a couple extra tiles you may have, and glue em up there with ceramic glue...

DansMom replied: I LOVE the new paint!! I missed the tile debacle, but we had our own sink debacle, so I think I can imagine it. Following our debacle, we started referring to Lowes as "Blows".

if it's the ledge above the shelf, what about stainless art? like chinese characters or something silver? the color reminds me of Asia.  i know.. i am decoratingly challenged LOL
