Restless legs
mummy2girls wrote: Has anyone experienced this? I have always had from when i was little but I was always able to manage it. BUT ever since becoming pregnant its been horrific to say the least. It is so bad at night. I have tried having a warm bath every night to relax the muscles but that rarely helps. I have been finding myself on the couch as well because its a firmer surface. With my legs i need firmness under my leg and on top as if its pressing down on my leg to make the muscle feel its doing something and a pillow in between the legs. But in bed the mattress is so soft that when i lay my weight on top of my leg it just sinks my leg into the mattress which in turn i dont get that firmness under my leg. Its frustrating to Marcus as well because im tossing all the time if i try the bed. BUT after last night I am going to be on the futon in the living room until it settles. any non medicine reief idea guys? Ill try anything...
coasterqueen replied: Hun, I don't know of anything. I never experienced RLS (restless leg syndrome) until I was pg with Kylie. I've had it ever since. I had it almost the entire time with both my pg's, and now I get it at least a couple times a month if not more. I know there is a drug you can take for it (when not pg), but I just deal with it. I've found nothing that helps. Sorry Hopefully it won't be as bad, once your beautiful baby is born.
moped replied: I remember that when pregnant and someone told me to eat 2 bananas a day.....I dont remember if it helped. That is the most annoying this ever!!!!!!!!!
momofone replied: Calcium and magnesium is supposed to be good for that but just check with doc for dosage during pregnancy.
my2monkeyboys replied: Also, steer clear of any caffeine... that always makes mine worse! If it gets too bad though I would just get out of bed, walk around the house a few minutes and it seemed to help, too.
DVFlyer replied: I had it for a couple of years and it was awful. It went away for quite a while and then, for no apparent reason, came back for a few months.
I thought I narrowed it down to being stressed but there was nothing really different going on during those times.
I still get it from time to time during the summer when it's hot at bedtime.
cameragirl21 replied: RLS is supposed to be relieved by eating acai and bananas. Don't take acai in the pill form, if you have a Whole Foods near you, you can get some pure pulp in the frozen section. I don't go a day without it. Take a magnesium supplement at night, it helps with any muscle discomfort. When I get cramps from over exercising or stress, I take some and after a few nights of taking it, all is well.
My2Beauties replied: I've heard eating bananas help
luvmykids replied: And potassium (which is why they say eat bananas). I've always had it and still do...have never tried the rx stuff for it. I did try a supplement (can't think of the name) and it didn't really make a difference. It sucks, I've just gotten used to it.
DVFlyer replied: Forgot to mention.... at it's worst, I went to the doctor who prescribed Klonopin.
It worked well.
mckayleesmom replied: Ugh..I had that...I would eat bananas and then sleep with a pillow in between my legs to get added comfort.
HuskerMom replied: I had it really bad both times I was pregnant, more with Summer though. And I wouldn't just feel it in my legs, I'd feel it up my back too. When I got it I would just get up and walk around for a little while, it helped a little. I hate bananas but if I had known that helped then I think I would've choked them down.
