I am torn between getting rid of the stairs and having less bathrooms...
We didn't think about kids when we bought this house. It is impossible to block off the top of the stairs because the banister stops before the stairs do so a gate wouldn't help.
I would also like to get rid of one of the bathrooms. I thought having three would be great, but that just means there are three that I have to clean. YUCK!
If I had to choose one... hmmmm... ok, I would get rid of the stairs! It would make things with Ashley so much easier!
Jamison'smama replied: One thing???? I agree about the stairs---not sure how I would get to the bedrooms but I hate having to worry about the stairs all the time. I think I would make the whole house one level--we have 3 stories--well, 2 full and a very completed basement but it makes the house very cut up--the house is 100 years old and has beautiful woodwork and floors but it is not child friendly.
All in all I think the one thing I would change is having a larger backyard for Jamison to play in---DH would disagree since he mows but eventually she will want to spend a lot of time outside--hopefully we will move before that is an issue.
A&A'smommy replied: i would get rid of the stairs they are a pain, when im upstairs all relaxed and sleepy i have to go d/s to get something i want and when im d/s cleaning or something i have to go upstairs to finish....
5littleladies replied: Wow! I would add more space! We live in a 2 bedroom cracker box-all 3 girls sleep in one bedroom (of course they love it). We are actually looking into getting financing to put an addition on. Keeping my fingers crossed!!
chloe&tysmommy replied: Oh man, I could make a list right now of things I'd like different but since you said just one thing....hmmm I'll say the layout of our house. I really don't like it. Its a nice size house 1250 square feet but the way its layed out its really closed in and it feels small....the basement stairs are in the middle of the house (all closed in) and takes up a lot of room, I wish the stairs would have been against a wall out of the way Ahhh, now I'm wishing I could win a lottery and build my dream home! But all in all, its nice i guess........
Maddie&EthansMom replied: If I could change one thing right now...It would be that our house was complete. We are remodeling and I just want it finished!!! There are a lot of things we need to do.
victoire2002 replied: I love our house, but I would definitely change a few things. I want one of those big, beautiful bathrooms that new homes have, with a huge bathtub and large windows. We have a lovely home, built in the 1940's, that has been remodeled. We have a back deck that is ROTTING.... I won't even let Aidan out there because I don't think it's sturdy enough!! We plan on getting it fixed sometime in the next year, when we get "caught up" financially.... hmmm.... wonder if that will *ever* happen!!!!
paradisemommy replied: hmmm..i'd have to go with the majority and say one level - less stress with the baby
amynicole21 replied: I would completely tear out our master bathroom and start over!! I hate it! It's like a closet with pink tile and pink countertops. UGLY!! The stand up shower is too small and it's so dark in there! I would expand the bathroom out another 10 feet and add a jacuzzi, a bay window and a DOUBLE SINK!! I actually sit and think about this at night... I'm obsessed
juliajaj replied: I love the layout of my house, so I wouldn't change anything that way. However, I would love to replace the carpeting & ceramic tile. Both are very light & have the tendancy to look dirty even though I just cleaned. DH is planning on replacing the roof & windows in the back of the house (that doesn't sound fun to me).
supermom replied: A bigger kitchen - ours is soooo small - we say it's a "Two butt kitchen" - LOL - at least its not only one!
Kaitlin'smom replied: I would have to say if it were one thing I would want a bigger kitchen, so I could have a table in there.
we plan on moving in about 3-4 years so I have tons of thngs to look for in our next home, cause after that I dont wanna move again!
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I would change the livingroom/diningroom. When they renovated these house I guess they took the dining area out of the kitchen and made one big common room. There isn't enough light and it just doesn't work. The table has to be put all the way on a far wall that is not convienient. Yes there are two ways to get into the kitchen, but that just doesn't help. We never actually eat on our table. It sits against the wall and collects stuff.
