Rude people waiting to take parking spot!
MamaJAM wrote: I admit - one of my pet peeves is people who sit in a parking lot waiting for a parked car to pull out.
I had to run to an office downtown with my boys a little while ago...parking is hard, I admit that...I had to drive around the block 3 times just trying to find an opening where I didn't have to cross the main/busy road with my boys. I actually got a spot right in front of the main door to the building. Just as I was heading to my van - I saw this man stop his car - blocking traffic - with his blinker on waiting for me to pull away. Now...I had both boys with me....so it's not like it only takes me a few seconds to get in the van and drive away. I put both boys in from the side-walk side of the van and buckled DS#2 in his carseat on that side - then went around to the other side to buckle DS#1 in his carseat. When I opened DS#1's door to buckle him in the man in the other car was glaring at me (guess I was 'taking too long' for him). Once DS#1 was safely buckled - I got in, buckled myself in and pulled away. The guy actually HONKED when it took me more than a mili-second to pull away after closing my door. I am NOT going to pull away before buckling myself in just because this guy couldn't drive around the dang block!
I hate when people are rude like that!
Thanks for letting me vent.
luvbug00 replied: UHh I HATE that!!! I'm sorry you had to deal with that. When it happens to me I take my sweet time.!
MamaJAM replied: DH does that too. With this guy though - I was afraid he'd just ram my van!
Also - DH likes when he's 'followed' in a parking lot....he'll suddenly cut across a few lanes - then once the car is either heading to where he's moved to - or gone a different way - he'll head back to his car.
MyLuvBugs replied: In college we called that Parking Lot tag. lol I have to admit....I do sit and wait and put my blinker on, but I NEVER honk. That's rude. It's also completely rude for someone to "steal" the spot if you've been sitting there with your blinker on for like 10 minutes. KWIM? But some people play "the game" a little different.
C&K*s Mommie replied: So I am not the one to sit and wait, I figure I can park and walk to my destination, faster than it would take to wait. Unless they are near completion of getting in and pulling away. Then I will sit and wait for a moment. In your case you were just walking to your car, and knowing that I would have kept on driving. Partly because I dislike it when people hold up traffic, and I know it takes time to get the kids buckled in the car.
If he had honked at me, I wuold be like Nadia... talking my sweet time to pull off.
C&K*s Mommie replied: I hate it when people follow me though. Although I do not dart between the cars to lose them. I just do not speed up anymore than normal.
5littleladies replied: That is so rude!! I hate it when people do that.
My dh and Sara's dh always talk about walking around the parking lot with a full shopping cart trying to get people to follow them to their non-existent spot. I think they actually did it once last year when we were Christmas shopping.
kayla's mama replied: I hate that too. I ussually take my sweet time getting in and situated before I pull out if I know someone is whating on me
The only time I wait for some one to pull out is if they are just about to. I will not wait and cause a traffic jam because I just saw someone walk to their car, kwim!!!!
When I drive DH's truck I don't have to worry about people wanting my spot because we are in the last parking spot on the lot......he gets pissed if someone parks next to him so we hike to get to the store
Edward's Mommy replied: I'll park way out of my way just so I avoid being like that! It drives me crazy!
~~*Missi*~~ replied: wow that would peeve me. Your nicer then me cause i would have probably given him the one finger wave and then I would have sat there trying to find the "best" radio station to peeve him off more LOL
People have no common sense. Obviously buckling your kids in is a MUST!
arghhhhh what a dork he was !!!!
luvbug00 replied:
I do that too!! or since I'm so small and there are ALOT of SUV's and trucks I'll "dissapear" and end up far from them. ( that gets them really mad! HA! )
Cece00 replied: I HATE that.
Seriously, I never wait for spots unless I know the person is going to be out of the spot in about a minute, and esp not if there are other nearby spots.
I also hate when ppl get soooo close, like up your butt, waiting for a spot & its next to impossible to get out.
Yesterday I had this woman wait- I am not kidding- 15 minutes while I loaded up over $200 worth of groceries (so, a LOT of bags), arranged some things in my van and loaded up my THREE kids, got buckeled in & organized myself before driving off. And there were 2 or 3 other spots that she couldve parked at! WTF??
luvmykids replied: Thats me too, it always takes a good 10 minutes to get the cart unloaded, another 2 to return it, another 5 to buckle everyone else in. Why bother waiting, like Nicole said, they could park farther and walk faster than that!
