SECRET SANTA - Sign Up and Rules
mckayleesmom wrote: I know it seems early, but we did it early last year and it gave people plenty of time to deside if they wanted to join or not.
HOW IT WORKS
You sign up here in this thread to give and recieve a gift from another PC member. You will know the person that you are buying the gift for, but will not know who has you until it arrives. You will send me your address's in an email (NOTE..this address will be kept private between you, me and the person I chose to help me this year....Last year it was Aimee (maddie&Ethansmom) and she is very trustworthy.....If she choses not to help this year...then I will find another trustworthy member.
DEADLINES
Sign up by.....NOVEMBER 1st Gifts are to be sent by .....DECEMBER 1st.....I know that alot of people thought that was to early last year. So I changed it to a later date, but then some people didn't recieve their gifts till well after Christmas.
RULES
1. MUST have 2000 posts in order to participate. If you have the points by the deadline then you may sign up, but PLEASE do not sign up before then. Also..Please do not start rapid posting to reach 2000 just to sign up. That becomes very obvious and if I get too many pm's with people that are unsure of you....I can't let you participate. Remember..there is always next year.
2. NOTE...if you sign up...some people will recieve the names of members in Canada and other countries.
3. The spending Limit is 20-25 dollars.....This was decided last year and worked out well..so I don't want to change whats broken.
4. If you sign up and then a financial change occurs and you need to back out.....Just try to pm me before the deadline....It will be between you and me and it will be kept private. Things happen.
5. Same thing apply's for after you get the name of the person you are suppose to buy for. Im a very understanding person and things happen. If you let me know in time, I can either ask for volunteer's to send a gift...another member to participate or send them something myself....IF you don't tell me in time...There is no excuse for why you didn't send a gift and you won't be able to participate the following year.
6. IF you do not recieve a gift...Please let me know as soon as possible so I can correct the problem.
7. Please do not balk at the person you recieve. You may not like them, but maybe the person that got you feels the same way...keep that in mind. This might just be a chance to get to know them better. The spirit of Christmas is giving regardless of wether you like them or not.
8. Please sign up in this thread.....and list some of the things you like, collect...etc. This will help your secret santa buy for you...and hopefully get you something that reflects upon you. They might not get what you posted, but it might give them more insight on you.
9. NOTE TO PARTICIPANTS FROM LAST YEAR......PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL ME YOUR ADDRESS'S. I still have them from last year....If I find that one is missing.....I will pm you for it.
10..PLEASE email me your address's.....Don't send them to my pm box because it gets full to fast My email is annebri99@yahoo.com or you can click the link under my posts.
11. Also....Sometimes the person you get might change...Hopefully not, but it happened a bit last year with people dropping out. Also..PLEASE pm me if you got the same person as last year.
Thanks...if I forgot anything..Please let me know.
moped replied: I don't have a problem with any of the rules, however the Canadaian thing I have one point, it is actually cheaper to send from Canda to the US than from Canada to Canada........location depending. There are very few canadians on PC as well.
I will think about it
Thanks Brianne
CantWait replied: Thanks Brianne. I'll see if the money situation changes before November 1.
mckayleesmom replied: The only thing about that is....Somebody will still have to mail to Canada...kwim? Last year it was costing some people 2 times as much as they paid for the gift.
I just reread your post Jen....How on earth do they get away with charging you more sending in your won Country???
CantWait replied: It's the distance. For example New Brunswick border Maine, so it would probably be cheaper to send there rather then to Alberta.
Alberta border Arizona, so it would probably be cheaper to send there instead of out east.
Just depends on where things are being sent and the distance.
mckayleesmom replied: Ok....I will erase the rule....but note that if they sign up...there is a chance they will have to mail to Canada or other countries.
mom2my2cuties replied:
Anyway - don't forget about customs charges - those can be a bear too. Because you have to declare value and things now.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Add my name to the list. I would love to buy something for any of the great people (men or women) at PC.
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: Sign me up, It was really fun to do last year!! I think you still have my address, if not just let me know!!
ETA: Things I like

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Sign me up Brianne! If Aimee is busy I will happy to help you too!
TANNER'S MOM replied: I'm new.. I am easy too. Books, perfume, candles, or horse stuff
holley79 replied: Did anyone give anymore thought to the ornament exchange instead of gift buying?
1lilpeanut2love replied: I am in!!!
I like: ~make-up, ~crafting, ~taking pictures, ~bath & bodyproducts, ~hair products
I like angel figurines too!
I am a typical girly-girl!
CantWait replied: Yup. My friend who is from AB, would always go visit family that lived in Az.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Thanks for the reminder, Monica.
I am not picky whatsoever. I like figurines the most, like mother/daughter or daughter/daughter or figurines of two sculpted bodies forming one, or even Willow Tree.
I do not own many figurines, but I always want to buy them when I see them.
that is a good idea!
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Oh yeah! I really loved that idea last year!!!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Arizona does NOT border Alberta. Arizona borders California, Nevada, Utah and New Mexico - and some of you may count Colorado...
Washington, Idaho and Montana border Alberta.
However, distance wise, it's a shorter distance to go to Arizona from Alberta than it is to go to New Brunswick from Alberta.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Locked until we figure out what we're doing... at Brianne's request
holley79 replied:
However, distance wise, it's a shorter distance to go to Arizona from Alberta than it is to go to New Brunswick from Alberta.
Ok Now I get it. That makes sense. Thank you Rocky.
kimberley replied: distance and weight are big factors here. if you keep it close and light, it's ok but anything over 2lbs costs more than what's in the box lol. buying online is subject to standard delivery fee. if you find a theater or restaurant or mall near the person's house, it won't cost much at all. certainly cheaper than postage.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Sign me up! I really enjoyed this lastyear!
My3LilMonkeys replied: I would love to participate!
amymom replied: I want to participate! Brianne Let me know if you need my address.
Many of us are forgetting our wish list!! Maybe we need to have a seperate thread for wish lists. Brianne you are going to go batty reading all these.
I like Chocolate, Irish things (shamrocks, claddaugh, celtic), Christmas decor (both religious and secular), Country music, chocolate. I live in an area that is cold (It was 44 degrees this morning) and I can always use gloves, scarves etc. I love to be surprised so whatever you come up with will do me well.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I'm in And I'll let someone else help out this year. I'm in charge of Secret Santa on another board
And my address has changed...just let me know when you need it.
gr33n3y3z replied: Anyway - don't forget about customs charges - those can be a bear too. Because you have to declare value and things now.
very easy claim the gift for 1.00 but no more then 5.00 you didnt hear that from me LOL
mom2my2cuties replied: Perhaps easy but illegal.
gr33n3y3z replied: depends bc your paying shipping already to get it there and why should the reciever have to pay again more then what the person sent payed so who is ripping who off if you chose not to do it so be it but remember the person on the other end its not very nice for them.
Oh yeah anyone sending to Canada use the post office its way much cheaper then UPS and FEDX
mummy2girls replied: Ill join.. and Brianne my addy has changed:) let me know when you want it:)
mckayleesmom replied: As long as you send it by the sign up date...no problemo..

Just a thought.. If not I'll be back adn post a wish list here
