She has to miss a week of Daycare to reduce the risk of infection! My poor baby! Well at least we know all the nurses on the Pediatric Floor, I'm sure they will be happy to see how big she has gotten.

coasterqueen replied: ohmy.gif Oh no! Well hopefully this will resolve things and she will be better smile.gif Please keep us updated on how it went. grouphug.gif grouphug.gif

kimberley replied: grouphug.gif to you and Claudia! sorry she has to have the operation but look on the bright side... you get a whole week to snuggle her day and night. please let us know how it goes.

DansMom replied: Poor baby! I hope the surgery helps. I've heard those tubes can do wonders for kids with chronic ear infections. grouphug.gif

amynicole21 replied: Yikes! How scary! That should resolve all of her ear infections, though - which I am sure will be a relief! I'll be thinking of Ms. Claudia during her surgery!

paradisemommy replied: aweee..big grouphug.gif grouphug.gif but like everyone else is saying...hopefully this will take away all her ear infections. wouldn't that be a blessing?? good luck and let us know how things go!!

MommyToAshley replied: Awwwweee grouphug.gif It must be scarey having Claudia go in for surgery... even if this is a pretty common surgery. But, hopefully it will solve all fo her problems with ear infections.

Big hugs to Claudia and Mommy!

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I used to work at a surgery facility and we did a lot of tubes and adenoids there. The kids always did so well. They walked out smiling every time. She will feel so much better...it is a good thing. biggrin.gif

(((HUGS))) to you and Claudia.

A&A'smommy replied: awwwie poor baby!!! She will be alright though my neice had that done when she was just a little over a year old and she was up and bouncing around just about as soon as she woke up. (((BIG HUGS))) for you both!!!

Kirstenmumof3 replied: thumb.gif Thanks everyone. I just spoke to my sister and she reminded me that my nephew had this surgery done. He was a little older than Claudia and he did just fine. I also spoke to a friend who's friends DD had the procedure done when there child was about Claudias age. I guess the part that I am worried about is the removing the adenoids, I'm fine with the tubes, but I have heard that they are under longer when the adenoids are removed. I'm sure everything will be fine. I called the hospital today and she has her pre-op stuff on January 30, so I will be sure to ask a lot of questions!

jem0622 replied: It will be very quick procedure. My eldest got tubes @ 14 mos and he did great. And he is 4 next week and no ear infections since he got tubes. She will drain a lot from the adenoid removal. Just stay calm. It will be over in no time. And she will probably do far better (less illness, etc.) afterwards.

HUGS

Jacqueline_n_Alyssas_Mom replied: We just got the news my 19 month old and 3 year old are having tubes put in this coming Tuesday, they have been suffering from re-occuring ear infections since September, I have recieved wonderful information regarding the procedure and have to say I am happy that its being done.

My 3 year old has a speech delay that may be being caused by all of this, I hope to see some changes after the surgery.

I wish you all the best with Claudia, its a simple 5 minute procedure but scary non the less with the child/ren being knocked out.

All my best

Kirstenmumof3 replied: I talked to our CAS worker this afternoon and she told me that her DD had her adenoids removed it was very painful. She said her DD had a hard time eating solid food for about a week. I'm not so sure about this now! sad.gif

jem0622 replied: She will be okay. Don't worry. I had my tonsils and adenoids out at age 4. Yes, it hurt. But I ate lots of pudding, jello, ice cream, and carnation instant breakfast shakes. Keep those kinds of things on hand. And yogurt. Just keep her medicated with Motrin per doctor's guidance on dosage and she will be okay.

BTW, I actually found that Motrin Cold does a much better job on sore throats than regular Motrin.

Julie

Jacqueline_n_Alyssas_Mom replied: I agree with Julie, a friend of mine just had her 19 month old's adnoids and tonsils out (sleep apnea and breathing problems) and she did it with flying colors, you know your little one is gonna love getting all the treats to eat lol.

Hang in there... make sure to ask doctor about Claudia taking motrin prior to the surgery (my kids had to stop 1 week prior ).
