Say you've just - won a million dollars or more

Teesa®© wrote: You have NO debts, NO past due bills and you don't owe any money to anybody. What would you do with it?

I know I'd buy a great house on lots of property. Hopefully it'll be big enough that if something were to happen with one of my children, that they'd have room to live, with their families, if they needed to. There HAS TO BE TREES!!!!! And a clothes line rolling_smile.gif

DH would have a new car.

I'd buy the things that the food bank never, or hardly, ever carries - real bread, milk, coffee in a canister [they package it up into baggies - one weeks worth], diapers in a bag [again, they only give you a weeks worth - one diaper per DAY], laundry soap, etc.

I'd buy a moving truck and - as long as DH would agree to it because he has a license and I don't, lol - help abused women move for FREE.

And if I could, assuming I still have money left, lol, I'd anonymously donate money to needy families to help them move into a nicer home. I've always wanted to buy an apartment building, make it completely secure and only house abused women and their families. They'd only have to pay minimum rent - to cover hydro and a little extra for maintenance - and the option of a 3 years stay to save up money to move out on their own [most shelters only offer 1 year max]. I'd love to have a daycare in the building so they wouldn't have to worry about child care and it would be run by the mothers in the building.

I have big dreams blush.gif

AlexsPajamaMama replied: The first thing I would do is buy a house with a nice big yard...beyond that I dont know rolling_smile.gif I just want a house!

PrairieMom replied: I would LOVE to move some where where I can be self sufficient, meaning I would like a little hobby farm with a few cows, and chickens, a large garden, and a modern house that is totally green, and off the grid.

Boys r us replied: I'd hire a nanny so I could sleep in!

gr33n3y3z replied: Buy a few homes here and there and Invest the rest after helping out family

stella6979 replied: First, I would buy a nice home and then I would buy a pool table! I want one soooo bad, but we have no room in the house we are in now. I'd also help out my family.

Kentuckychick replied: First I'd buy a nice house somewhere -- probably out in the country -- then I'd start investing!!!

edited to add: that's with a million dollars... if it were more I'd probably buy a car and move or buy some other things, but it would depend on how much more. A million dollars isn't nearly as much as it used to be.

My3LilMonkeys replied: Buy a house and furnish it with mostly new stuff. Then buy a new car cause mine's a POS. That would probably take around half of a million - probably go on a nice vacation and put the rest into savings.

luvmykids replied: Build our dream house, then pay off all our parents' houses so they can fully enjoy retirement. That would be about $750K, the rest would probably go for college savings or other investments for the future.

mckayleesmom replied: Probably buy a house....or buy a business with good money potential...

luvbug00 replied: buy a house and make sure there are 4 rooms and enough land to play on. Somthing modist. And out the rest tward the kids and thier education.

moped replied:
I believe that was my first thought as well!!!!!!

But then I would make sure after I was well rested that everyone in my family was mortage free.....and myself

Then I would do whatever I wanted.

I would donate to whatever I wanted

mommy~to~a~bunch replied:
thumb.gif YES! We have a lot in common Tara!

grapfruit replied:
I would love to do that too. happy.gif

If you have enough "poop" from your animals you could supplement w/methane too! (and add if you had some land, add some wind turbines and some solar panels thumb.gif)

Tim and I have talked about biodisel and ethanal for our vehicles. Of course I think the local authorities would have something to say about distilling your own ethanal. rolleyes.gif He keeps saying he's going to convert my car to disel so we can use biodisel, but that sounds like a BIG job. tongue.gif

Back on track: I would fix up Tim's parent's house so they can sell it or just enjoy it. (it's in a permant state of renovation rolleyes.gif ) Buy my mom a modest house near her sisters in NC.

Invest!!!!!!!!!!!!

TRAVEL! biggrin.gif

lisar replied: Build my house, buy some horses, put my kids into the best darn private school. But some more land and buy some more atv's. Man I could go on and on.

TheOaf66 replied: I would donate some to my church

set up a trust for the boys so their futures can have a good start

build a house

go on a honeymoon

stella6979 replied: I forgot to add that I would also buy season tickets to the Tiger games and travel all around the world. Considering I hate flying though, I'm not sure how I would make it around the world, but I'd get there somehow. biggrin.gif

Danalana replied: Donate to my church
Build my mother and us new houses
Travel
Put the rest in savings

I don't know, I'm sure something else would come up. But I would love to donate too smile.gif

HuskerMom replied: I would want to pay off my parents debt and pay for the rest of my brother's college. We'd put away a lot for the kids and invest alot. I'd go back to college and get my bachelors and masters. We'd build our dream home in the country and have lots of land, like 1000 acres. We'd fix up my trans am, and we'd fix up Dh's GTOs and his torino. And we'd buy Husker season tickets every year! tongue.gif

My2Beauties replied: Hmmm

Build my dream home on a nice big plot of land with about 5 acres or so, that's enough for me
Pay off parents and IL's debts
Put money back for all the kid's education
Invest
Travel a lot
Buy a really really really nice car!!!
Quit my job and stay home with my kids! thumb.gif

Our Lil' Family replied: Donate to my church
Build our dream home
Pay off my inlaws home
Put away for kid(s) college
Take whole family, both sides, on a HUGE vacation
