Scary and Sleepless Night!!!!

fashionmumofboys wrote: Last night Alesio's hands began to get red and very hot. They started to swell a little bit as well. His right foot was also very red and very hot, and swollen, but nothing going on with his left foot.

He didn't sleep most of the night, because he was in pain, so I decided to bring him into our bed so I would save DH getting up during the night. He usually does the night time routine, as I have to work and he owns his own business so he goes in when he wants to.

We wrapped his hands in wet wash cloths and gave him some Benadyrl. This morning his hands looked fine with no red colour and not hot. I didn't have time to check his foot as I was soooo late for work etc. My DH hasn't called me yet, so I'm assuming his foot has subsided as well.

We are thinking maybe allergies, but are not sure. Nobody in our families have allergies, so we are not pros at this allergy reaction thingy.

We have an appt. tonight with his Ped. to see what is going on. I’m so worried, and hoping that it’s nothing serious going on with his little body.

amynicole21 replied: How strange! There were no insect bites or anything, were there? I hope you can get it figured out!

fashionmumofboys replied: No insect bites or anything. We are still in winter here, so that would not be the case.

I hope the Ped. rules it out at his appt. tonite. I think I'm going to get him tested for allergies.

MamaJAM replied: Wow -- that really is scary! Poor kiddo...and poor mommy and daddy! hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif
I hope the doc can figure things out and you don't have it happen again. hug.gif

JP&KJMOM replied: That is scary. We have found out the hard way that Karlee is allergic to several different antibiotics and the reactions are like what you are describing. I have to say if the problem went away after Benedryl then it does sound like an allergy. Hope the ped can tell you what is going on. Update when you get back.

kimberley replied: poor baby! please let us know what the ped said. i hope he is a bit better today. hug.gif

redchief replied: That sounds very similar to how Erin presented when we found out she was allergic to coconut.

CosmetologyMommy replied: hug.gif AND GOOD LUCK!

fashionmumofboys replied:

Did you get Erin tested?

I am going to request my Ped. tonite that I would like Alesio tested for any and all allergies for my peace of mind and his well being.

CAMSMOM1 replied: ITA, if the swelling went down with Benedryl then it's most likely allergies. What did you feed him last night? Anything new or different? Maybe something you always give him, but with an extra ingredient in the food? I would start to think on the things he ate, and what it could possibly be. That way when you go to the doctor, you can ask them to test for that. I'm glad the swelling went down. I can imagine how scary that was for your family. Let us know what you find out. hug.gif

fashionmumofboys replied:

My mom babysits the boys during the week, and by the time I get off from work and pick them up, they are always fed. She told me that she fed them pasta, brocoli, and then gave them a treat, which was Smarties, little round chocolates.

So he has eaten the above before, so I really don't know what it could be. I'm thinking its between the brocoli and the chocolate, but who knows.

I really want to get him tested to get some reassurance going here.

redchief replied:
Yes, Lisa took her to the docs the next day. That was when she started to break out in hives too. The doc sent us to the allergist straight off.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Oh poor little guy...hope the ped says it's nothing or at least says it's an allergy and that your little man feels better soon! hug.gif
