School days, school days.....
MyLuvBugs wrote: Ok....I was dreading this year....10 years since High School gradumatation. And just when I thought I was safe....... the invitation is in the mail.
Here's what I was thinking while reading it: "Come join us for our 10 year H.S. reunion" (do I have too?) "Bring pictures of your kids and some memorabilia from HS for us all to look through." (there was 25 of us in the class, don't we all know what each other did and looked like back then?) "Some of us haven't seen each other since H.S" (DUH! There's a reason for that) "So come and spend time reminiscing about our good old days..." (where they really that good? Honestly? Really? )
Then my friend that is throwing this shin-dig hand writes on the invite "I hope you can make it. I would love to see you there." (Guilt trip )
DH said...."Do I have to go?" and I actually thought to myself...."well, do I really have to go?"
I suppose........My best friend said she's planning on coming....my mother found out about it and is doing the guilt trip on me now....UGH....
Did any of you go to your HS reunions?
1lilpeanut2love replied: Well I only graduatated 3 years ago. LOL. In 2003. I dunno if I will go or not in 7 years. GEEZ.
C&K*s Mommie replied: We are having ours next month, as a matter of fact. The more I thought about it, the less I wanted to go. I mostly decided not to go, because of the list that was sent naming people they (the reunion committee, I suppose) could not get in touch with. In the first 2 columns alone, were people that I would do anything to meet up with again. Esp one of the guy friends, I would want to know what he was up to. But I decided that we are not going to go to this 10yr one after all.
I am not sure about Chris' he should have gotten his invite in the mail at his parents house by now.
kayla's mama replied: I really have no desire to go. I was a graduating class of 600+ and from what I've heard the 5yr was a big popularity thing, which is not me I really do not plan on going to my 10 yr either.
The way I look at it....If I didn't like you then, why would I want to spend my weekend with you know, kwim!!!
If you decide to go, hope you have fun!!!!!
Kaitlin'smom replied: yes I went to my 10 year but not the 5, the 5 was held in a bar...plesae I was so over the bar/drinking thing by then. 10yr was okay, but it was WAY over priced and way to much confusion on the drinks. It was nice seeing some of the different people I hung out with, a few who said they were going did not show so I did have some dissapointment.
luvmykids replied: I went to mine and loved it! But then again I had a great time/memories in high school and was genuinely excited to see those people again.
kimberley replied: did not and probably wouldn't. don't let anyone guilt you into doing something you don't want to do.
amymom replied: Well, I didn't go to any of mine (OMG! this year will be 30 years shhhhhh!! don't tell anyone). But we did go to my DH 20th and helped plan his 40th. (don't tell anyone that either he's really old ) They were a good group and had lots of fun. Since there were only 30 or so in the classes they invited the year before and the year after. And they plan to keep doing that everyyear now.
CantWait replied: Mine still hasn't come up, but I doubt I will be going when it does. I didn't know anyone my graduating year.
MyLuvBugs replied: LMBO!!!
MyLuvBugs replied: Well, there are a couple people that I've wondered about.......one guy in particular (Just to see what I've missed lol ). The thing that I dread more than anything....High School DRAMA all over again. KWIM? I'm so beyond that junk....
I know I shouldn't let anyone guilt me into it, but I think I'm guilting myself too. I'd actually like to see most of the guys more than the girls b/c I was closer to them. Go figure. And there were only 25 of us, but there was this one chick that I SOOOOOOO don't ever want to see again in my entire life.......
Torn.....I guess I'll just suck it up, go and see the people that I want to see and leave, and then hear the gossip from my mother and best friend about what a snob I am for the next month. No wait ......That sounds just like high school all over again. Yippee!! I just can't wait for it. (THat was ment to be sarcastic. )
AlexsPajamaMama replied: It will be 5 years for me next year...and I know I wont go for the whole HS Drama reason and the If I didnt like you then I wont like you now reason too!! The one girl I stayed in touch with I havent talked to in over 2 years now.
coasterqueen replied: We didn't have a 5 year, but we did have a 10 year. I was pg with Kylie at the time. We did go, but we also were on the planning committee I wasn't thrilled about everyone not seeing me for 10 years and then seeing me FAT and pg. I was like 7 or 8 months pg at the time. There was only a handful of people I had seriously hoped weren't coming and thank goodness they didn't.
mom21kid2dogs replied: I've never been to one of mine (graduated in '77) and I doubt I've missed anything. I see the people in my class that I cared to continue a relationship with. I really didn't feel close enough to the rest of them to care much.
I have gone to all my husband's reunions. They are a blast!
jacobsmama replied: I must be the odd ball.... I loved HS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has been 6 years and we didn't have 5 year for some reason?? But I'm looking forward to 10 year one because I lvoe running into ppl I use to go to school with. Guess I'm the odd one out today!
MamaJAM replied: I loved my last 3 years of high school (went to a different school for 9th grade...that was a miserable year). My class was huge - nearly 600 kids....I had very many friends. I did lose touch over the years with a few people I'd love to reconnect with.
When I found out about my 10 year reunion - against my better judgement - I went....DH went with me. Ugh - what a NIGHTMARE!!!! Thankfully - I didn't have to travel to attend since we still live nearby. I will NEVER again attend a reunion.
As far as do you 'have' to go...no. DH got an invitation to his 5 yr reunion....he didn't even think twice before throwing it in the trash. He didn't get one for his 10 year...if they had a reunion. This year is our 15th since graduation -- so far - no invitation...thank goodness.
