Seriously? The in laws have topped themselves - this year with Christmas gifts
kit_kats_mom wrote: Ok. Many of you are aware that my FIL is a bit odd. His girlfriend is even odder. I'm not sure where they get the stuff that they send to us but it's usually dirty and very used. I just opened the box that they sent us and inside are...no lie...a few old plastic bracelets, a box of lucky charms, the most atrocious ornament I've ever seen, some open bags of candy (tootsie rolls and butterscotch) held shut with chip clips (are those a gift too?), an old book, and some random other things....random like....a paper placemat from a restarant with picutres for the kids to color and some used crayons. Umm WTF??? Lucky charms? I don't even know what to say. I was cracking up when I was unpacking the box but I know they weren't trying to be funny. There were two wrapped gifts in there for the girls and I was really hoping that I was going to be plesantly suprised but no...I wasn't. Katherine got a doll house. Wait, that's wrong, she got half of a doll house. the other half was probably broken off and lost long ago by another child. The thing won't even stand up. Lauren got a Tigger alarm clock that's old, dirty and LOUD.
Wierdos.
sparkys2boys replied: ummm.. i'm lost as what to say here... did they spend more on mailing it then the items?? OMG... i'm never lost for words.. let me get back to ya on this one.. yikes...
sparkys2boys replied: ok,, thought about this for a few mins..lol!! Are they really short on money or do they just not care??? I mean it's not about the gifts but WTF????? CEREAL?? who gives cereal???
Kirstenmumof3 replied: OMG what's wrong with them? That's just wrong!
Jamison'smama replied: ummmm.....okay, at least it is so bad that it's funny!
kit_kats_mom replied: I know I'm still laughing about it. I actually look forward to these boxes DH and I have a blast opening them and trying to figure out what they must have been thinking.
But, I really hope they clean up their act before the girls get older and realize that they could go dumpster diving for the same junk. They aren't short on money, they are just cheap.
moped replied: That might top a gift I heard my nephew got - Used batteries!!!!!!!!!!
jcc64 replied: Pretty hilarious, Cary. At least they remember they HAVE grandchildren, I guess. My in laws don't even have a clue when the kids birthdays are or how old they are. I am fairly certain my FIL doesn't even know Corey's name half the time. The funniest part is that we are not even estranged from them. There was no big falling out or major rift or anything. They are just uninvolved or uninterested, I guess. I do find the opened bags of food particularly funny. Did they have a late night case of the munchies?
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Oh my gosh!!!! That's insane! I've seen my share of cheap skates, but they top my list now!
Kaitlin'smom replied: okay the only time I would even consider giving cereal is if they did not live in the US or such and they could not get something they loved.
they are sooo weird, honestly its terrible and sad. I am glad your able to find humor in it.
amymom replied: Uhhhh I've given cereal before as a gift, but only because it was asked for, or it was my child. But seriously if you are considering eating that Lucky Charms, I would check the expiration date. What fun it must be to open their boxes.
Calimama replied: Wow.. now that is an interesting assortment of "gifts"... if you can call them that.
Our Lil' Family replied: And I thought DH getting peanut butter last year was bad!
Mommy2BAK replied: Oh my gosh, the LUCKY CHARMS are awesome! Although that is a bunch of randomness and kind of tickles me, its sweet that they actually care enough to go through that trouble
mummy2girls replied:
CantWait replied: I'd be sending that box straight to the trash. That's just odd, very odd.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I remember sending Shelly cereal! I just saw it in Target today as a matter of fact and thought of you, Shelly!
Cece00 replied: wow, that is some kind of crazy!
C&K*s Mommie replied: agreed.
I wonder what they are thinking when sending those things. Such as do they really think your children will enjoy playing with half of a doll house?
paradisemommy replied: omg, cary..i actually look forward to your emails every year on what they have gotten you all!
sorry..not funny but funny..
Celestrina replied: Eeeeew, I hadn't even thought of that one!
amynicole21 replied:
mummy2girls replied: i do too.. man was i happy
see how lucky Marcus is..doesnt take much to make me happy!
TheOaf66 replied: I don't really know what to say to that, it kind of reminds me of the Aunt on National Lampoons Christmas Vacation that wrapped up her cat and Jello Mold I guess it is the thought that counts
mummy2girls replied: LOLOLOLOL I LOVE THAT show!
Jamison'smama replied: I can't top those heartwarming gifts but my FIL/Step MIL sent us a CD of Christmas songs...sung by my FIL. Won't the kids be thrilled?
Boo&BugsMom replied: I am curious to know if they are hard up for cash or if they really don't care as well. Any way you look at it though, it would have cost them less to just send a card with $5 in it for each of the kids. Very odd. I'd be super happy about the Lucky Charms though...my FAV cereal! That's if it's not expired that is.
Boo&BugsMom replied: OMG!!! I wouldn't know what to say to that one.
MoonMama replied: Agreed.
Boys r us replied: LOL..That's absolutely hysterical Cary! What does your DH say?
mummy2girls replied: well if you cant get me of your mind you can always send me some chocolate rice krispies... cocoa puff..... fruitty pebbles... and the list geos on
