Sex offender - in my neighborhood
Mommy2BAK wrote: ...well speak of the devil, we were just discussing this the other day on here, and yesterday afternoon a policeman came by all the houses in our subdivision and handed out flyers informing us about the registered sex offender moving to our neighborhood. He is a risk 3, his crime was that he turned off a woman's electricity and then broke into her house and attempted to rape her and rob her.
AHHH I am just sick at my stomach, John and I are seriously considering moving, I know that these people are everywhere, but I feel like I am just asking for something to happen if I stay here knowing this. This means that we have to change our lifestyle because of this SICKO, Blakely and I can no longer take long afternoon walks through our neighborhood. I am just totally sickened!
coasterqueen replied: I know I'd be a nervous wreck about it too.
That's why I live in the country where all my neighbors are either family/friends or old people who'd never sell their properties.
mammag replied: Oh I would feel the same way. That would just be disturbing to me. How close is he going to be to you?
I don't think I would be able to handle it and would want to move also. I'm not sure if I would but it would be a serious consideration.
Daisyx3 replied: I can feel your frustration but you just have to go on with your life..
Where i used to live my road dead ended into a coldisac. 2 sex offenders lived down there and there was never any trouble that i know of.
Just be extra cautious. Make sure all your windows and doors are locked at night and if you still want to go on your evening walks then by some mace.. I carry some around all the time.
Mommy2BAK replied: Well see, in our subdivision, there is one way in/out, so you have to go that way.... pretty much, he is at the front of the neighborhood, we are at the back. But it is a small subdivision. It may sound like I am over reacting, but I just can't help but feel this way! If DH was here all the time then there would be no worries, but he's not! Man, the world is a different place from when I grew up, well, here in Arkansas anyways.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Nope, I'd be moving for sure!! I wouldn't be able to sleep and I would be a nervous wreck. I don't think you are over reacting one bit. You are young and beautiful...quite an easy target if you ask me. I'm not meaning to scare you more, but I really see why you would be so scared.
Scotty works a lot too and I NEVER answer the door. I stay in the house with all the doors and windows locked pretty much all the time. There have been some freaky things going on in the Dallas area. I don't want to take chances.
It's so sad, isn't it? That we can't go on in life without worrying about someone harming us or our children?
A&A'smommy replied: Oh hun that is scary!!! (((((HUGS)))) I wish I could give you some advice Have ya'll decide what your going to do, stay or go? ((((((HUGS)))))
~KARA~ replied: I know how you feel. I have one living at the other end of our street!! My dh is going to stop at the police dept on his way to work in the morning to see if this guy still lives there. Im sure they dont do a very good job of updating, and untill the end of the school year last year there was a school basicly right out side my door!
You should take a self defense class, get you some pepper spray and just be cautous when your out walking. Maybe see if there is another person close to you that would like to go for a walk at the same time everyday so you dont have to be alone!
TANNER'S MOM replied: Oh Man this is awful..... You will have to PM me and let me know where if you are confortable.
You what I hate is that I feel alot of area's around here are getting run down and nasty..and if you have nice neighborhood..it gets ruined by this crap!
I am so sorry that you will have to feel this way in your home! That is the bad thing..it takes away our security in our OWN homes that we work hard to provide!

chloe&tysmommy replied: we live in the country too and I'm so thankful for that!!
I feel so bad for you..that is very scary (((hugs)))
~KARA~ replied: Ok after my reply earlier I went in and did more research to see where all 100 sex offenders lived here in my county and oh my god I HAVE ONE LIVINE RIGHT NEXT TO ME!!!!!
Im flipping out I called my dh and he is calling a security place to get an estimate for a system. and I think its about time for my moms Rott to come live with us!
iluvmysweetiepies replied: (((hugs))) I'm sorry. In our old house we used to have a sex offender a couple homes down. It was scary. Now where we live there aren't any sex offenders (within a .5 mile radius) near our house. It's so sad that our world has come to this and it's dangerous to take a walk in your own neighborhood. We got a security system a year ago or so and I wouldn't live without it now. If you can't move you might want to look into getting one. It gives me a peace of mind, esp. at night.
Mommy2BAK replied: We already have a security system, so I am not worried about that, the main thing I am worried about is going outside.
gr33n3y3z replied: Get pepper spray if you can in your state Dont let ppl. like that keep you locked into your own home. If you go for a walk ask someone to go with you And never go walking the sametime everyday I'm trying to get a laser for the truck but they are illegal
mummy2girls replied: geez these guys are just coming out of the woodwork...
I would be terrified also.
