She finally did it! - Jade used the potty!

MomToJade&Jordan wrote: I bought Jade the Once Upon a Potty book about 3 weeks ago. She really likes the book and is always telling me how the character in the book used the potty. Well this morning Jade was reading the book and I asked her if she wanted to read the book while sitting on her potty. She wanted to so we headed downstairs to sit on the potty. I think we were in there for 45 minutes with nothing. We went through some magazines and I tried to keep her entertained, but she finally wanted to get up. I told her all right, but I'm not going to put a diaper on you. Well she ran around naked for a bit and then wanted to sit on the potty again. The wiggles came on and she wanted to watch so we moved the potty to the livingroom. She sat for a bit more then got up and danced around. I xan imagine that her bottom was getting tired. Then all of a sudden she said Mommy wet and ran to the potty, sat down and went. I was so happy. I put a pull-up on her and sent her on her way. of course she has gone in her pull-up, but I claim a small victory today. I guess I will just keep at it. Maybe have another sit down session sometime later. I know this stuff take repitition. I think I may have to go get me the makings for a star chart.

One suggestion that works with Sophia - brag about her accomplishment to lots of people when she doesn't think you know she's listening... call grandma to boast about her within earshot, etc... Sophia would get so proud she'd want to do it again immediately

jcc64 replied: Congratulations!!!!!! Today was Corey's first successful day on the potty as well. The pee pee gods must have been smiling on us! Corey told ds' whole baseball team, who promptly broke out in applause. Pretty cute!

b&bsmom replied: WTG Jade That is funny because Bryce has had no accidents the past two days.

My suggestion is have a potty party. I had one last week with the kids I take care of and a friend and since then Bryce has gone on the potty. We threw construction paper confetti whenever someone went on the potty we danced and the potty person got a stamp on their hand, a sticker for their chart , and the chance to pick out of my goodie basket. Ever since tues Bryce has been doing great.

and Jeannie...you have to write that story down somewhere. It's rare to get that kind of kudos, especially from a bunch of pre-teen boys.

Now that you mention it, we've had 3 dri days in a row here. No accidents at all & K is even waking up dri. I'm hesitant to get rid of the pull ups at night yet though.

Jamison'smama replied: We are on day three of the potty training here also. Stayed dry all day at the mall --whoopie. I had a friend tell me that if you can pretty much stay home and work on it for 3 days (provided they are ready) you can get this done. Worked for us so far and she is a stubborn one.

WTG Jade. Try to do panties as much as possible. I bought the feel and learn pull-ups and told Jama they were panties as well and she keeps them dry. They have flowers on the front that fade if wet so you can really tell how dry they stay.

Hope she keeps it up!

LOL!!!!! I agree with Cary that you need to write that one down.

We haven't had much more success in the past couple of days, but we haven't really been at home. I plan on getting up tomorrow and working with her some more. I am thinking that I need to go to the store and get her some undies.

I called my Mom the other day to tell her about it. I was saying to her that I need to get something to reward her for her success. My Mom said it should be something that she usually doesn't get. That's when my farther chimed up in the background and said that I had to give Jade a biscuit. That's how we reward the dogs for going outside. I don't think I am going to go buy Jade some milkbones, but love my Dad for his sense of humor.

Oh and WTG to all of our little potty goers.
