Shopping - Who's done/ who's not?
holley79 wrote: We all know that Kelly (idaho boo, since we have so many Kelly's LOL) is done.
What about the rest of us? Who is done with their shopping and who is not?
DH started tonight. I feel bad because I haven't done a thing.
Thursday that will all change though.
mammag replied: I have started but will be finishing it up Thrusday. I'm always a late shopper.
Boys r us replied: I'm done with the kids..unfortunately I haven't really bought for anyone else. A few things here and there. Tonight I'm going shopping and I'm not coming home until I'm done!!!!
PrairieMom replied: I have one more thing to get, but I know exactly what I need and where to get it. I'm usually an early shopper, and like to do a lot of internet shopping.
luvbug00 replied: I'm done . Did most of it black friday.
holley79 replied:
Now I really feel like a slug. LOL. I will have it done on Thursday though. One stop shopping.
MamaJAM replied: For Hanukkah we still have to get a few things for DD#1 -- it's been hard since she doesn't have a clue what she wants. All the other kids we've been done for a while. We still need to get all of the candles we'll need for the menorahs -- but the store were we get them opens Sunday - so there's time.
The sad thing is -- we only buy TWO gifts for anyone other than our kids -- we buy Christmas gifts for my brother's kids....I still don't have a clue what I'm getting either of them. Time is running out - guess I should really work on that one.
3xsthefun replied: We are not finished. We actually did get started earlier this year.
We will probably be done by Christmas Eve.
aspenblue1 replied: I have started but no where near done.
mom21kid2dogs replied: I've just barely started. I got a few things for Stephen online last night. I used to be done by December when I worked. I had alot more time to shop then!
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: I am almost done, I have 2 more gifts to get and already know what they are just have to get to the mall to get them. I only have about 4 more presents to wrap. So almost done!!!
sunrosejenn replied: I was done Nov 25th with my shopping as I started 2 weeks before Thanksgiving
mckayleesmom replied: I still have to get my dh something...will probably do that when I go shopping with LeaAnn on Sunday. I also have to pick up 3 sets of disney dishes for Mckaylee and her 2 cousins to go with their kitchens.
5littleladies replied: I'm not even close tp being done. Hopefully this weekend.
coasterqueen replied: I had to do a lot of online shopping because it's just nuts trying to take the girls out. Course I've paid dearly in shipping.
Now I'm down to 1/2 of my shopping left and can't be done online so I'll have to brave the stores with the girls I guess.
MommyToAshley replied: I'm done with Ashley... it's the firts time I have ever been done shopping for anyone this early.
But, we still have everyone else to buy for.
jcc64 replied: I'm also paying through the nose with online shopping/shipping this year, but I just can't find the time to do it in person. (not to mention the fact that the stores around here are just lame). Still nowhere near being done, and totally cranky about it. The only people I have left are the ones I don't enjoy shopping for in the 1st place. I really wish Christmas was reserved just for the kids.
My2Beauties replied: We are almost completely done with everyone else except each other. We have the kids done, parents, grandparents, aunts that we buy for etc... We have one more thing to get for one more person because the nail shop we went to was out of gift certs (we're getting SIL a mani/pedi GC) so we have to go back sometime this week. They should be in today, but I will probably be working late tonight so I won't have time to go get it. I am going shopping for Brian next Sunday with Brianne We're gonna have a girls day out shopping!
Insanemomof3 replied: LOL I have not even started yet. Money has been BAD since James got laid off so we are pinching pennies. We may go out this weekend to shop.
CantWait replied: I'm done mostly everything. I have a couple things to get for Robbie still, and something for Anthony. I have yet to wrap a single item though. I'll probably start that on Thursday or Friday.
Kaitlin'smom replied: I am almost done, did a lot of on-line shopping and free shipping on almost all of it. The rest will have to be done in stores. hopefully I will be finished by this weekend so I can get it all wrapped.
holley79 replied:
Well looks like everyone is doing good so far this year. DH and I split the list this year. There are certain family members that we just have a mutual agreement with, NO GIFTS. We try and concentrate on the kids. If we bought for EVERYONE we would be in debt up to our eyeballs. My SILs and I are trying to get a name drawing done for next year with all the adults. We will see how that goes.
Has anyone done this in their family? We just have SO many people.
jacobsmama replied: we will be done after tomm just 2 more things to get whoo! whoo!!
MommyToAshley replied: We do the name drawing on my side of the familly and just buy for the kids on DH's side of the family.
If your family doesn't want to spend a lot of money, a fun thing to do is a white elephant gift exchange. We do this with the extended family (Aunts, Uncles, etc). For the white elephant gift you find something in your house that you don't want (or something cheap at a store)... it's usually funny in nature. We have this UGLY yellow necklace from the 60's that makes it to every white elephant gift exchange. I got stuck with it last year. I got reindeer poop one year and a yucky smelling candle another year.
What you do is ... everyone wraps the gift but doesn't address it to anyone. You draw numbers and the first person picks a gift. The next person can take the first person's gift away or open another one. (If someone picks your gift instead of choosing another, then you get to open another one) It's a lot of fun, we always laugh sooo hard.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Yikes, I hate even the thought of shopping that day. I usually have a turkey hangover anyway.
holley79 replied:
That is similar to our "dirty santa" gift exchange. I will have to remember the white elphant though. The only problem with that is DH's family is so split up and no one gets long that at least if we drew names then that might work. As far as I'm concerned it's for the kids.
**MamaTo4** replied: I'm Half-way through.
PhiMuMommy replied: for the most part done.. i have some more that if i catch a good deal i'll get but not gonna break my neck doing so..lol.
