Should I be concerned?

Danalana wrote: I have read that crawling is not a necessary milestone for babies...that some skip it altogether and just go to pulling up and walking. Well, that's fine and good til it's MY BABY. He does not crawl. Don't get me wrong, he is very mobile. He gets all over the place by rolling and pivoting...he also will lay on his tummy and reach as far as he can with one side and then do the same with the other side, and he can go forward that way. He is VERY strong, and i have no reason to believe he is delayed at all. He can almost sit up from the floor by himself. I partially blame the family, because they held him ALL THE TIME when he was smaller. he almost never got floor time. I give him lots of floor time when we are alone here during the day, and he is getting more at our familes' houses. What do yall think?

ETA: he is 9 1/2 months old.

Crystalina replied: Well what I think is look at that baby boy in your siggy. He's all kicked back and relaxed and thinking, "why should I crawl anywhere when I'm cute enough to be carried like the Prince that I know I am?". rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif

He's fine. He just knows how to play the game. emlaugh.gif

Calimama replied: I'm going to be honest and say if it was my kid and I was in your shoes I'd be concerned. BUT I'm pretty sure that he's just a late crawler and will crawl when he wants too.

moped replied: Do not be concerned at all - PLEASE...........is he developing otherwise? Please don't be concerned!!!!!!!!

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Dana I really don't think there is any reason to be concerned. If he is trying to sit up by himself, he will be crawling in no time. wink.gif hug.gif

Insanemomof3 replied: My sisters kids NEVER crawled. They would move around a lot and get places but never ever crawled. The ped said it was fine. Then they just went to walking. There is nothing to worry about IMO.

mckayleesmom replied: Mckaylee and Russell never really crawled...Mckaylee would scoot herself on her back or roll and when she could sit up...she would do the butt bump thing to get where she wanted. Russell never crawled either...he just went to sitting up and then walking.

boyohboyohboy replied: dana two of my boys never really crawled, Jakob never did at all..he just pulled himself up and then one day it was walking time...
please dont worry..
If he can bear wt and your dr's feel he is fine..just let him do it his way.

Danalana replied: Oh, he is developing wonderfully! He goes over to the curtains so he can hide befind thema nd play peek-a-boo with me wub.gif He "talks" all the time. He started rolling at 4 months and hit all his other milestones early. He has almost mastered finger food...he can balance on his hands and knees if I put him there, and he can stand with a little support. Thanks ladies...in my heart, I know nothing is wrong with him, but you made me feel better.

lisar replied: Raygen didnt crawl till she was 11 months old. I wouldnt worry at all

whitting713 replied: Morgan didn't crawl until after a year. She just scooted on her behind to get where she wanted to go.

A&A'smommy replied: I KNOW the feeling Autumn is six months old and while she mobile she isn't THAT mobile!!!

NO as long as he is moving around I don't think I would worry too much, but you can call you ped and have them "evaluate" him. I'm sure he is fine, is he pulling up on anything yet (including like toys laying around on the floor)?

Danalana replied: Yeah, he grabs onto things and pulls up a little...he'll grab hold of the entertainment center and try to pull himself up. Not to his knees or feet, but sideways laugh.gif As I watch him now, it's just awesome hos he can get exactly where he wants to...and reach anything he wants. He'll raise up on one side and balance like that, too. I will ask his ped when we go on the 15th, but I think he's doing great.

mom21kid2dogs replied: Olivia crawled at 11.5 months for precisely 2 weeks until she walked the day after her 1st birthday. She just pulled up and walked or rolled before then. I actually thought she might not crawl at all like one of my cousins.
Guess you'll have to find something new to worry about.cool.gif

A&A'smommy replied:
yeah he is fine as long as he is developing otherwise I wouldn't be too worried. My mother in law seems to think Autumn wont even crawl just walk at 8months like Alyssa I do NOT see that happening again rolleyes.gif emlaugh.gif

HuskerMom replied: I think he's fine. It sounds like what Summer is doing too. She doesn't seem to have any interest in crawling but rolls everywhere.

Brias3 replied: I wouldn't worry. I can speak from experience on this one and sometimes, they really do just skip crawling! Ryan was one such child. He was a roller- literally would roll faster than ever across a room, pivot on his heels to make a corner and keep rolling right down the next hall laugh.gif Pretty soon, he was pulling himself up and coasting along couches, tables, etc. and then he was off! He actually started crawling some during play AFTER he could already walk, go figure wacko.gif

I wouldn't worry too much, sounds like you're doing everything right!

MoonMama replied: I say talk to his ped if your at all worried. But I'm sure everything is fine and he will crawl when he is ready.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: No you should not worry! Some babies figure out better ways of moving than crawling! I have a friend who's son hops on his booty (IT is HILAROUS!) He puts his hands above his head and gets where he is going. They have hardwood floors so crawling hurts his knees-he figured out a better way. I am willing to bet Kade has too wink.gif ....Don't stress Dana! hug.gif

My2Beauties replied: Hanna never ever crawled instead she walked at 10 1/2 months. Aubrey didn't crawil until 10 1/2 months and didn't walk until 13 1/2 months.
