Silly question

EvesMom wrote: Do you get a baby shower for each pregnancy, or just your first? I really could use another one, lol! emlaugh.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: In most cases just the first. I have heard of some women having one for their second baby, but usually only if there is a large space between the kids.

PrairieMom replied: I only had one for my first.
After Alexis was born we had a "Big brother Party" for people to come over and meet the baby, but Ben was the star of the show. We had a Thomas cake that said Congratulations Big brother Ben, and had napkins with his name printed on them. laugh.gif

hopefulmomtobe replied: I had one for each of mine. Heck, if your friends want to throw you a shower...why not!! smile.gif They are celebrating and buying gifts for the new baby, so I say go for it! Especially if you could use stuff. It has been almost 8 years since my last child was born and I have NOTHING so I am all for getting stuff! smile.gif They are your friends, that is what they do. smile.gif Besides, there is so much stuff that a new baby needs.

Where do you live? I will throw you a shower myself! hee hee

Jamison'smama replied: I only had one for my daughter.

EvesMom replied:
biggrin.gif That's really sweet of you. hug.gif I really have nothing for a boy. I have all girlie things from my dd. It just wouldn't look right to dress my son to be in frilly pink dresses. emlaugh.gif

hopefulmomtobe replied: But if he has her cute little smile like in that picture, it might be ok. rolling_smile.gif

Have a shower girl! You need some new baby boy outfits and goodies. smile.gif

BTW - what is his name?

skinkybaby replied: I'm having one for this baby, too. My friends really want to throw me one, so why not? I throw them for my friends for every pregnancy too. I figure that I'm going to buy them something anyway and every baby deserves to be celebrated.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: I think it depends on your friends. tongue.gif Most of the time it's just for the first baby, or if you've got a big gap between them. My sister's friend is throwing her a shower - she just had a baby girl 2 months ago and she has a 3 year old son. I'm not expecting one - I really don't need anything because it wasn't that long ago that I had Andrew and I have most of the baby equipment I need, so the only thing I really need is clothes and I'm sure to get lots of hand me downs from my sister. happy.gif I kind of wish I could have another one just because they're so much fun though. blush.gif Actually if someone would throw me a shower and just tell everyone to only bring diapers then that would be great! tongue.gif

hopefulmomtobe replied: Yea, Good point about the diaper!!! I have been stocking up already, everytime we go to the grocery store I buy a pack of newborns or size 1. Oh and wipes! smile.gif

DillsMommy replied: I wasn't planning on having another one, since I had one with Dylan. But I have a friend and my mom who really want to give me another one... so why not? I could use new baby clothes, even if I have another boy, I got rid of almost all of dylans clothes. I just thinks it's kinda rude if you ask someone to give you another one (espesially if they already gave you the first one) I have a friend who did that.

3xsthefun replied: I only had one with Kaitlynn.

But would like have one with this baby. I might see if my mom will have a small one at her house. I don't want big baby shower this time, just few friends and family.

EvesMom replied:
We're leaning towards Jesse James rolling_smile.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: Only for the first here, but I wouldn't argue is someone wanted to throw me another one! biggrin.gif

boyohboyohboy replied: i was given one for my second child, however it was 4 yrs apart, and a totally different set of friends and family.

hopefulmomtobe replied:

Way down the family tree I am related to Jesse James. Crazy huh. smile.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I didn't read what others wrote...But I say one for the first only, unless of course someone WANTS to throw you one for the second. People will buy you gifts regardless if you have a shower or not. Especially since you're having a boy! They know you need boy clothes, so I'm sure you will end up with a lot of new stuff!

We had a second shower, but it wasn't my idea. And I definitely did NOT register. My playgroup through it for me and there were only six or so moms there. They mostly got gifts for "me", like a spa gift card, plus big brother gifts for Wil. It was really nice!

MotherForever2043 replied:
Dito biggrin.gif I My job is sending throwing me a baby shower in May. They always throw one for all the pregnant women that work there. Hopefully, I won't be TOO big and I'll be able to go and collect my gifts laugh.gif
