Slumber Party with 4 8-9 yr olds - Am I cuckoo??

My2Beauties wrote: So it's official, Desiree has been bugging me to have a slumber party at our house with 3 of her friends forever now. I promised he we would do it on November 12, the Friday before her and Hanna's birthday!! She is inviting 3 friends and we're going to have movies, cookies, make-up sessions and all the other fun stuff! I am having DF's mom and dad to watch Hanna so the girls can stay up late and be loud, Hanna is a light sleeper! Am I crazy for doing this? I hope not, I want it to be fun, I just remember some of the slumber parties I went to as a little girl, and a lot of the girls ended up arguing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will pull my hair out blink.gif

MomofJandB replied: I dreaded my 8yr olds sleepover. We had 8 girls!!!!!!!!!! I thought some of them would say no, but that didn't happen! The night was awesome!!!! It was August, so playing outside was helpful. We also decorated pillowcases with fabric glue, did hair beading and hair twisting with those things you see on tv, played Twister, ate, watched movies, sang karaoke, etc... I had as much fun as they did. Plus they were all very good! The key for me was to always have an activity to keep them going. By the time we put the movie in, some were ready to go to sleep!! Everyone was asleep by 1am! Oh, a really fun game they played over and over (even in the morning) was guess who is in the sleeping bag (it has a fancier name, but I can't remember. One girl leaves the room while the others pick a sleeping bag and get in and cover themselves completely. The girl is called back and tries to guess who is in the sleeping bag by feeling it. It sounds like a stupid game, but the girls played it for about a total of 2 hours!!! They kept going back to it!

Any way, I wouldn't dread it! I have great memories of sleepovers as a kid and now have a great one as an adult!

Oh yeah, they basically ate twice, so over order the pizza! biggrin.gif

Good luck to you!!! Enjoy it!!!

A&A'smommy replied: OMG Have fun, I definilty DON'T envy you!!! LOL it should be fun!! thumb.gif

My2Beauties replied:
Ooh that game sounds like fun...8 GIRLS!!! You are my hero!! *kneels at your feet and woships ground before you* LOL!

Kaitlin'smom replied: nawww I bet it will be fun. I am looking foward to twhen Kaitlin has friends over, I did not get to do that muchwhen I was younger so I hope Kaitlin will and let me in on some of the fun. I know my sitter has a 9yr old and the key is to have plently for them to do even if you have ideas you never get to thats okay at least they wont get board....thats when fights can start.

oh and that sleeping bag thing sounds like fun

ediep replied: oh how fun!!! I LOVED sleepovers when I was a kid!!!!

coasterqueen replied: Awww I bet it'll be fun!!!!

momof2girls replied: I think your really cool for doing that! I loved sleepovers but was not allowed until I was like 15

My 9 year old has had one friend at a time but not abunch, its gonna be LOUD
smart of you to have someone watch Hanna!!!

Let us know how it goes! wub.gif

Boys r us replied: yeah you're coo coo alright!!!! When Tanner turned 7, he had all of the boys in his class over to have a pirate sleepover!!! blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif
Ughhh that was 17 of them!

I'll put it to you this way, I never wanted to see any of those little boys again!
I had to threaten to call mothers at 4am!

but girls should be easier..at least they won't be running all over your house with water guns, jumping on the couch shooting each other inside..or throwing balls off of the pool table across the room at one another..yeah hopefully, they'll just be painting their nails and all giggly!

Josie83 replied: It sounds like fun! we were never really allowed sleepovers when I was younger but I'll definitely let cassie have them. It sounds like a lot of fun. I bet you're such a popular stepmother! desiree's luck to have you! xx

kimberley replied: that sounds like it will be fun! girls aren't as rowdy as boys... you should be just fine. thumb.gif

My2Beauties replied:
Aw shucks blush.gif Thanks!

She does love me...I have to admit it! Brian teases her all the time, he goes Desiree, daddy is gonna go out on the town tonight and find you a new stepmomma (he'll wink at me) and she cold knocks him right in his leg, arm, chest whatever is closest and says I don't think so!!!!! LOL, it's too funny!

Josie83 replied: Oh its good that you're so close! xx
