So I'm not the Parnoid Mother After All - Update on Spencer
Kirstenmumof3 wrote: As much as I hate to be right, Spencer is sick. He has an ear infection and a brochile infection. He had X-rays done and is on antibiotics and puffers. They are going to call me this afternoon if anything shows up on the X-ray and let me know what his blood counts are. I hate being right!

Kirstenmumof3 replied: Thanks everyone! When we got home he took his antibiotics and his puffer no problem (this was around 11:00). Around 12 I gave him alphagettis for lunch and then at 2:00 he was coughing so hard that he started vomitting. So I called the pharmacist, who recommended a prescription cough syrup with codiene and to contact the peadiatrician. So I called the hospital here and left a message with the out patient clinic. They called back and told me that all the peadiatricians had gone for the day. She told me if I was concerned to bring him into the ER, he isn't running a fever and I'm not really sure what they really could do for him in the ER except write the prescription. He hasn't vomitted since this afternoon and has taken his puffer and antibiotics without any problem (THANK GOD!). Around 5:00 Emily noticed that there was blood in his lines, this shouldn't be happening. So I had to call Home Care and have them contact the nurse on call. So he came this evening and flushed the lines. This seems to be happening a lot so I am now going to have to talk to Toronto about this and find out what can be done. Oh I also got his counts and everything looks good except for his platelets which are low (normal count is 150-200) his are at 43 and his neutrophil count (normal count 1.5-8.5) his are at 0.6, if they drop below 0.5 than he is considered neutorpenic and this means he is at an even greater risk for infection. Sorry information overload! He's gone to bed now and will be happy that he won't have to get up until after 10:00 tomorrow when the nurse comes.
