So, ladies, how's about some ideas
MyBrownEyedBoy wrote: Aaron is taking Logan on a two week trip in July (1-16) to Indiana to visit his folks. I'll be working for the beginning and the end of that trip, but I have the week from July5-11 off. I'm thinking I need to take a trip too. I don't know if I'll just fly to Indiana and spend the week with my boys (Aaron might not be there, he is thinking of leaving Logan with his mom for a few days and driving to GA to visit his brother) or if I want to plan another sort of Mom's special time off trip. What would you do? And any ideas of where I could go that I wouldn't feel too out of place as a single lady alone?
Kaitlin'smom replied: hummm, me I would probably miss Kaitlin to much and go to be with her, and depending where in IN we might be able to met up, I am in ohio and most of IN is not terribly far.....
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I'd most likely be in Alexandria. It's where Aaron's mom lives. They have a small ranch with 4 or 5 horses. It's a very small town, about 20 miles or so from Muncie.
CantWait replied: I'd do the week alone. I'd miss my kid, but it's very rare you get that time for yourself. I say spend the night in a nice hotel, get pampered, and have a yummy dinner and dessert.
Kaitlin'smom replied: thats about 2 hours.....not bad at all. so if you decide to go to IN let me know
I do like the pampering idea, maybe you could do a bit of both.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I'm looking at plane tickets. So far, it looks like around $350. But if I wait too much longer, I'll be paying more, I bet. What with gas prices and all.
grapfruit replied: Oh wow, that's only about 1.5 (per map quest) hours from me (Greenville, OH). So the way normal people drive, like an hour.
I'd say do the pampering thing. I know you'll be missing him like crazy, but it's the PERFECT opportunity to do something for yourself. I'm sure you don't do that often! Find a little bed and breakfast or spa or something. That'd be nice!
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I do that like never. LOL. What mom does? TBH I'm leaning towards Indy and possible visiting with you OH folks. Logan loves meeting new kids.
HuskerMom replied: Have fun with whatever you decide! If it were me and I had the money I'd take a friend and go to Vegas!
grapfruit replied: Well I'm having a big party at my new house July 7th! Everyone is invited, there will be lots kids there, and you can see the park. Greenville has an AWESOME park, it's huge!
I have to say Indy is great! If you like live music, and are planing on going into the city. Visit the Slippery Noodle Inn. It's the oldest bar in Indiana (est 1850). They have live music every night! When we were there we watched a great band, and when we were leaving we realized there was ANOTHER band playing at the front of the place! The bar is so big that you can't hear the other band playing! It's wild! I recommend that place.
And if you want a once in a lifetime meal, but it's pricey, try out the St Elmos Steakhouse. It's REALLY REALLY REALLY good. Like the best meal I've ever had...and there's a chance (a good one!) that you'll see some high profile people (the Manning family visits quite a bit).
lisar replied: Of course I would miss my kids but I think a spa retreat would be nice. I have always wanted to do that for like a week.
Calimama replied: I would go do something with yourself. Take the time to recharge and relax, they don't come around that often.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Um, Vegas in July isn't exactly my idea of a good time. It's hot as H-E-double hockey sticks then.
Kaitlin'smom replied: wow we are only 45 minutes away from each other......might have to have a get together!
Our Lil' Family replied: Hmmm, that's a tough one. I guess I'd probably try to do a little of both. Fly out to IN to see the guys and then leave a day or two early to go back and have a spa weekend alone.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Exactly what I was going to say! I'd do 3 days with the guys and 4 alone, or something similar.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I would be taking some girly time, but I'm guessing you all aren't very surprised by that one.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I love the idea of girlie time, but it would be better if I had someone with me. I'm not good alone. Which is why the idea of rattling around the house by myself without Logan for 2 whole weeks drives me nuts. But I'll have to see how Aaron reacts when I bring this up. He may not want me there.
lovemy2 replied: Can you do both - find somewhere sorta close to IN, fly there - pamper yourself at a spa or something for a few days then rent a car and drive to Logan?????? That sounds like a perfect compromise to me...some you time and the rest Logan time....
hoosier momma replied: Kelly, I know there are some spas within driving distance of Alexandria. I'm sure that some are nicer than others though. I've heard the spa and resort at the new casino in French Lick is really nice, that would be about a 3-4 hour drive from Alex. What about flying in and spending a day in downtown Indianapolis pampering yourself, shopping, or whatever you want and then you and Logan can spend the week together having fun. You could even stay with him in a hotel if you don't want to stay with your mother in law. Some things you and Logan could do together, off the top of my head, Indianapolis Zoo, Indians baseball game, petting zoo in Parker City(I've never been here), Holiday World in Santa Claus, Conner Prairie and there are lots of state parks to visit and just play and hang out. And, I'm sure there will be a county fair in Madison or one of the surrounding counties during that time frame. Let me know if I can be of help finding information for you.
grapfruit replied: Neat! I didn't realize anybody was that close!
I think Hoosier momma has the right idea, Indy has some great things to do! That mall downtown is HUGE!
Kaitlin'smom replied: I did not realise you were in ohio
yep indy has some great things to do DH and I keep saying we need to go there and take Kait to some of it, so if Aaron is okay with you going and its what you want to do.....
redplaydoh replied: Come see us in Switzerland!! We have a guest room...
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Now that's an idea! If only it was cost effective. Jet lag would be worth it for a trip like that.
redplaydoh replied: You should do it... just check what flights would be... otherwise it will be a fairly inexpensive vacation. Many times you can get flights to here cheaper than flying within the US. You should consider it!
lovemy2 replied: Your welcome to come to Rochester too!!!! Flight would probably be cheaper!!!
