So what are you putting in their Easter baskets?

coasterqueen wrote: Hope I'm not repeating another thread. I was just curious what everyone is putting in the baskets this year.?

So far I've gotten:

Kylie - pink raincoat (to go w/her pink rainboots and umbrella), pink/purple fishing pole and tackle box, two pair of cute thongs.

Megan - pair of spring/summer pj's, pair of sandals, book and a mini chocolate easter rabbit.

I need to get Kylie a chocolate bunny too and maybe some other snacks for the both of them. Not sure if I'm done or maybe I'll get something else a bit small for them.

Edit to say that Children's place has some CUTE thongs 2 pairs for $5! A steal!

Edit again to say Di (Kaitlinsmom) if you are reading this thought I'd let you know Ryan talked me into getting a different kind of basket for Megan. tongue.gif Like you mentioned wink.gif

mummy2girls replied: I got jenna a easter bucket that she can use for the park and then inside the busket i got her easter stickers, a stuffed bunny, easter socks, bunny ears for dressup, and books... no candy this year!

and yes i saw those thongs at childrens place.. very cute. I may get her some:)

mckayleesmom replied: Im putting in for Mckaylee...

His own hairbrush.....he is starting to get hair and he loves to brush it.

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: We got Mackenzie an Aquadoodle. She is still a little young for too much candy, might get her a couple tubes of the mini m&m's.

ediep replied: Jason is gettng 4 JayJay the Jet plane guys, 3 yankee soft balls, twizzlers, chocolate bar, bubbles....I still want to get him a Mr. Potato head.

mckayleesmom replied:
You can also get him a book about being a big brother....that would be so cute.

MommyToAshley replied: I still haven't picked up anything for Ashley. I was going to get her a bicycle (since her bday is in Sept) but she got the outside playhouse and I think a bicycle would be a bit over the top. I think I will take her shopping for a bicycle with her birthday money she has left over from last year.

So... her basket will probably be small this year. A few pieces of chocolate and then a few small things.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Maddie:
play makeup (lip gloss)
2 shirts
1 pair of shorts
2 eggs with candy

Ethan:
2 pair of shorts
1 shirt
2 eggs with candy

I need to find something else for Ethan. I don't do much b/c my mother goes overboard and we will be at my parent's house on Easter. PLUS she gets an Easter party at school. rolleyes.gif

redplaydoh replied: Lots of sandbox toys... and each will get a new Bob the Builder toy. Matchbox cars and lots of sidewalk chalk along with this giant spirograph thing you put the sidewalk chalk into and it makes huge spirograph designs on the sidewalk... probably several books too.

My3LilMonkeys replied:
dunno.gif Is this some sort of regional word for something that we don't use in my neck of the woods? Cause I really don't think you're buying your daughter thong underwear - but I guess it's possible. emlaugh.gif

mckayleesmom replied:
thongs are another word for flip flop shoes.....Alot of people in Cali call them Thongs

My3LilMonkeys replied:
Thanks! We just call them flip flops here.

coasterqueen replied:
laugh.gif We've always called them thongs. I guess on occasion I've used flip flops. rolling_smile.gif

Our Lil' Family replied: I got Thomas a chocolate bunny (more for us I guess wink.gif ) a little Peter Rabbit book, a bath toy (fishing toy) and a bubble gun. I'll get him some candy I'm sure.

Anyone else do baskets for their spouse? I got Tim some cologne (he needed it anyway) and I'll get him some candy probably.

JAYMESMOM replied: Both Kids are getting PJ's.

Nick is also getting some shirts for summer and underwear.

Jayme is getting lipgloss and she gets clothese quite often due to her growth spurts so brother got a few more things.

I did pick a little candy because I felt guilty. Starburst jelly beans, taffy, and nerds.

Some of those marshmellow bunnies - well those will end up eaten by my sister since the kids dont like them. As you can tell she went shopping with me and got my daughter to think she needed them in her little easter baskets she was carrying thru the store.

Needless to say everything got hidden when I got home and Jayme keeps asking where her and brothers baskets are. LOL.

kit_kats_mom replied: Each of the girls are getting chocolate bunnies. I'm filling a few eggs with jelly beans. Other than that, K is getting a strawberry shortcake doll, a bunny pen and a few other love pats. Lauren is getting a bunny book, a stuffed bunny and some handcuffs. Ok, I'm kidding about the handcuffs. tongue.gif

Brias3 replied: Ryan's getting the Narnia DVD, some new soccer shorts, a Magic Tree House book set and candy. Aliyah's getting the Barbie Mermadia DVD, some new hair things, these sunglasses she wanted and candy. Mason's getting the Nick Jr. Favorites DVD, two Miffy books, a Color Wonder Explosion pack and candy.

We aren't doing a TON of stuff this year because the kids will all be getting new bikes sometime soon that really won't be for any occasion so we're not overdoing Easter stuff. Plus, they always get things from the grandparents too.

3xsthefun replied: Kaitlynn:

Shirt
Shorts
Bubbles
Candy
Stuff Animal

Maegan:

Shirt
Shorts
Bubbles
Candy
Stuff Animal

I might get something else for them, I don't plan getting much. Since I know my parents will go over board.

Brias3 replied: That reminds me, Mason's getting bubbles too. We just got one of those Bubble Belly Buddies the other day and he loves it so we'll add to the collection smile.gif

Boys r us replied: I'm so lost, I have hardly even began!

Candy, candy and more candy. Bubbles. Brae is head over heals for Max & Ruby(the rabbit cartoon) I got him a DVD of Max & Ruby at Target.

and that's it so far, I've got to get my but in gear!

holley79 replied: Well DH ordered the Robeez shoes from that Shooshoes (sp?) but I don't think they will be here in time. (Not like Annika will know any better.)

I also bought her some new little toys. I think that's about it. I mean what do you put in a 3/4 month olds Easter basket.

Any suggestions for the 17 year old?? I think he's too old for an Easter Basket but want to get him something. dunno.gif

ETA: I am getting Annika a float for the pool and a new swimsuit so those will be in there.

My mom went CRAZY on egg hunt stuff and easter baskets for the kids (Kat got pom poms and stuff to play dress up with) so we didn't do much for candy.

MommyToAshley replied:
I don't think he is too old. My Mom bought me an Easter basket up until the time I got married. laugh.gif I think kids of all ages like candy though. thumb.gif

b&bsmom replied: My kids are not big candy eaters anyway so ...

Brittany is getting Junie B Jones for her Leapster

Bryce is getting Thomas for his V Smile.

They are both getting a few little things and some hershey kisses.'

That about sums it up. Pretty pitful I guess. sad.gif

coasterqueen replied:
Dh and I STILL get easter baskets from my parents. blush.gif

kit_kats_mom replied:
My mom started getting me stuff for my first home at that age. One year it was a stock pot filled with candy and utensils & kitchen gadgets. I still have that stock pot. Great for soups

Nina J replied: Emily:
Some books
A dress
A dream catcher because she loves mine
Crayons, new paints and some other crafty stuff
Candy

DH:
Candy
New rosary beads (he is quite religious and his old rosary is looking a bit worn out)
A framed picture of me and Emily for his office
And monopoly (he loves that game)

Is it weird my DH gets an Easter basket? We're both just kids in adult bodies, we get each other an Easter basket so I'm excited about mine happy.gif

We also got Emily a little desk and chair. We were going to give it to her for Easter, but decided to wait until the baby is born. When we bring him/her home we are going to have it set up with all her crayons, paper, etc as a surprise for her. She loves drawing and anything crafty, so she'll get alot of use out of it. And, I think it's a nice way to let her know that she's still as important as ever when the baby comes. We are going to ask her to make a picture for the baby at her new desk wink.gif

MiniMomy replied: Oh, I just don't know. I figured out most of it.

Tyler:

bubbles
bouncyball
candy
nick jr. DVD
matchbox cars
blues clues doll

New baby Hailee:

blanket
pacifier
diapers

jcc64 replied: OK, guys, fill me in. At what point did Easter become such a big gift giving holiday? My mom used to give us a chocolate bunny, some marshmellow peeps, a handful of jellybeans, and call it a day. I get the no candy thing, but man, I'm starting to feel like it's Christmas in the Spring.
Am I the only one??

3_call_me_mama replied:
yeah we do too smile.gif LOL

Oh yeah i forgot to add we also got kat a baby that floats in teh bath tub (not that she'l take abath but she has a littel baby tub she got for xmas but all her dolls have cloth bodies) and Cameron got a leapster game tha twas on clearence at target for $3 smile.gif Math baseball or somethign liek that !

3_call_me_mama replied:
Not sure jeanne. We always got a basket from my parents (well teh Easter bunny) and he left a toy hidden as well. . I think teh main difference is that my parents didn't really buy stuff all year (like little holidays like Valentines day) or just becasue. Those were few and far between. They budgeted for Easter, Birthday and Christmas. So we do pretty much what we grew up with. It is hard though DH got things ALL the time, for every holiday (even groundhog day!!) but he was an only and they had $$ to spend freely so I guess they did. Which makes it difficult to convince him that we dont' need to go overboard for everyhtin gand all teh time!

jcc64 replied: Groundhog day???!!!! What sort of gift is appropriate for that day?

MiniMomy replied: Don't ask me, that's crazy!

mckayleesmom replied:
My mom always got us little things we needed like nightgowns, toothbrushes and a couple toys.......Mainly because she would have had to buy it anyways so she might as well make our baskets look good....Most of the stuff Im putting in their baskets they need (they are due for new toothbrushes) or I would have bought them anyways.

booey2 replied:
This sounds like the conversation I had with DH last night. So we have decided that they are just getting the Sponge Bob Chocolate they asked for, bubbles and sidewalk chalk. They are also having an egg hunt outside with their cousins in the morning because their cousins are spending the night with us. We did it last year and had a blast.(sorry OT) blush.gif

They are just getting chocolate, chalk and bubbles in their baskets.

Kaitlin'smom replied:
thumb.gif rolling_smile.gif smart man rolling_smile.gif

where did you end up getting the rain coat?

BAC'sMom replied: B ~ outfit, shoes (flip-flops), book/ coloring book, candy, match box car, stuffed animals hacky sack, sunglasses

A ~ outfit, shoes (flip-flops), coloring books, hair stuff, stuffed animal, candy, sidewalk chalk, sunglasses

C ~ outfit, shoes (flip-flops), car, ball, stuffed animal, coloring book, sippy cup, candy

Kaitlin'smom replied: mostly things she needs

bath stuff
swimsuits
hair stuff
the other Lep frog DVD
a dress
she will have some eggs hidden around with money , jelly beans and m&m's
a chocolate bunny (could not find the chicken sad.gif )
she also said she hoped to get pink flowers for easter holiday
and she has been wanting the doodle bear (might get that as the one this she wants)

sounds like a lot but most astuff she needs so I would have to buy anyway, kinda like what my parents did we got things we needed and a bit of candy.

coasterqueen replied:
It's not the traditional raincoat I wanted but at a Walmart in St. Louis. Everywhere else I looked didn't have a traditional raincoat sad.gif.

Kaitlin'smom replied:
what is it then, a poncho or just a jacket that water proof?

coasterqueen replied: Jeanne,

I don't know the answer to your question. As kids we spent Easter with all the family at our aunt & uncles up north. We always went to church with them and then an easter egg hunt. What we got in our basket usually had to do with dressing up for easter. My mom would either make our dresses or buy them and then we'd get socks, barrettes (some kind of hair stuff) and MAYBE a little change purse and some candy. That's about all we got for Easter. I remember always getting MUCH less than what my cousins would get that morning, but it didn't bother me.

I spent less than $30 on each girl, which was more than I even wanted to spend. BUT I only got one thing that they really didn't need. The other things were either what they needed already and instead of buying them at a different time I just bought them for easter OR Kylie's fishing pole is for our camping trip this summer. Her raincoat and Megan's book is obviously something they don't need.

I thought I went extremely overboard last year and my husband made me aware of that and made me promise I wouldn't do that this year. tongue.gif He still thinks I went a teeny overboard this year, but agreed we'd have to buy those things at a later time anyways (most of it).

Josie83 replied: Gosh we don't any of that over here. When I was a little girl we didn't get anything coz that would have taken away from what Easter is really about, we just had a few extra church services (Catholics). Cassie gets a chocolate Easter egg form us and she'll probably get one from Blaise, Sam, Nikki and a few other aunties/uncles. I don't know, I think Christmas and birthdays is more than enough! I've never heard of Easter baskets and presents for Valentine's Day etc . . . must be an American thing? unsure.gif xx

My2Beauties replied: Hanna is going to get either a dolly play set (with a swing, bassinette, stroller, etc) or a kitchen. No candy for her, she gets enough of that from everyone else lately so it seems.

Brias3 replied: I agree with some of the others. Everything the kids are getting are things I would have a) gotten them anyway or cool.gif they need/will use. They're only little for so long and I know that I'm not "ignoring" the real meaning of Easter by making presents a part of it. I think to each his own for the gift thing. Baskets have always been a tradition in our family and its just a fun way to celebrate the holiday with kids in my opinion.
