Soapnuts! I Can't Wait To Try Them.
Crystalina wrote: In my quest to go greener I've found this wonderful little nut that you can use as soap. It can be used for all sorts of things.
Check it out.
mommy~to~a~bunch replied: I want to try some of those too. They look really cool!
A&A'smommy replied: wow thats awesome!!!!
TeesaŽŠ replied: They look like acorns!
Does anyone know of a store that sells these? I don't have a credit card
Crystalina replied: I know! They are a lot cheaper then detergent and it only takes about 4 for a load of laundry and those 4 can be re-used about 4-5 times.
Crystalina replied: I don't know of any. I just discovered them this morning.
Crystalina replied: I loved this part:
Jackie012007 replied: I actually got a sample of some soap nuts when I bought some cloth diapers for Carly - I haven't tried them yet and this actually just reminded me that I have them!! . I'll try them next time I do laundry and let you know how they do!!
ETA: this is the brand of the sample I got:

Crystalina replied: Oh great! I'll be waiting to hear.
blondiegreen replied: Do you have Paypal? I see that they take that.
Also, I have used them on my cloth diapers, and they are the BEST thing! They actually get them smelling clean and leave them feeling soft. I washed my diapers a few times with them, and they stripped the detergent build-up and made them more absorbent again! Plus, my husband's eczema has disappeared from his belly since using them. Erin
MoonMama replied: AWESOME!!!! Let me know how you like them! If they are any good I SO want them! Although I wonder how they would be with Braedin. His allergies are horrible, we HAVE to use All Free so we don't make his skin break out. I'm dying for feedback on them.
MommyToAshley replied: I had never heard of them before. Let us know how you like them.
coasterqueen replied: I sought them out about a year ago, but was a bit afraid that I wouldn't get a nice smell to my laundry so I saved the link in my favorites and ignored it. I'm glad to know that it does make the laundry smell good. I might have to buy some. I wonder how it works with septic systems, though?
TeesaŽŠ replied: DOH! Yes, we do, it's how I buy our Pogo Gems
I'm gonna wake up DH right now and tell him about this. $5 for 40 loads, environmentally safe and all natural??? SIGN ME UP!!!
TeesaŽŠ replied: I still can't do it, we don't have a phone
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I just ordered some from a place in OKC. I will let you know how they work when I get them in.

mommy~to~a~bunch replied: I just ordered some too. This would be even better than making my own.
PrairieMom replied: Anyone know about if these affect people with nut allergies?
PrairieMom replied: I ordered a sample size, I can't wait to try them.
luvmykids replied: The site Crystal posted says they don't, that they're actually related to the lychee fruit.
PrairieMom replied: Awesome.
luvbug00 replied: awsome i have to check this out for lars's exsuma
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Those look awesome! I'd want to try them but they're too expensive for me when you add shipping. I'm only paying $16 (with shipping) for 96 loads worth of my Melaleuca laundry detergent that I'm using now, and the soap nuts cost almost $14 with shipping for only 40 loads worth. It's cool that you can use them for so much though - I'd love to try it for shampoo! Maybe someday I'll be able to afford to be greener. I love natural stuff but it all costs so much.
edit: I did the shipping calculator and for shipping to my area it's only $6.95 instead of 8.95, but it's still more than what I'm paying now.
TeesaŽŠ replied: The site Crystalina posted is based in British Columbia and there's NO shipping/handling charges to either Canad-eh or the States [there is to the UK, though].
~Roo'sMama~ replied: that's only if you spend $50 or more though.
Calimama replied: Those look cool!
