Something Fishy About Claudia's Daycare
Kirstenmumof3 wrote: When DH picked Claudia up this afternoon to go and meet her teacher. The Daycare teacher told him to keep an eye on her, they've been sending kids home all day with flu like symptoms. Well sure enough we were waiting at the bus stop and Claudia started vomitting. I think it's food poisoning. I mean, it can't be coincidental that that many kids have the "flu" and just as I'm typing this she vomits again!
kimberley replied: oh no! lots of ~~~get well soon~~~~ vibes!
mom2my2cuties replied: Just make sure she stays hydrated. Poor girl Sorry she isn't feeling well. They showed me on Andrea to check thier lips and inside thier mouths to see if it looked to dry to make sure she was getting enough fluids...There have been some nasty nasty stomach things going around it seems.
Boo&BugsMom replied: How old is she again? I know sicknesses get spread like wildfire in the younger ones very easily.
Last year around winter time I had a horrible flu go around my home daycare. No child was untouched. It was a horrible stomach flu. It does happen, especially in large group centers.
If you want to know for sure, take her to the doctor. I couldn't hurt. Just don't assume until you know for sure, because things like this do happen.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: She's going to be 4 on Tuesday. I just didn't think that the flu would spread so quickly in a school aged room. DH told me to just keep on eye on her today, if she is still vomitting tomorrow I'm going to take her in. Thanks for letting me know this.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Do you know what she had to eat today and yesturday while she was in care? Perhaps it would be a good idea to get that information and ask if the meat was precooked as well (like if they were chicken nuggest precooked or something), to be on the safe side. Are they allowed to tell you how many kids went home sick? If so, I'd probably want to know, as a mom, to be cautious.
Actually, now that I think about it, when I ran a group daycare I was required by law to post the exact number of children who came down with any illness and what rooms they were in. Perhaps your state as a law like this too.
CantWait replied: Yup!!!! I think you're right, food poisoning.
There was just something in the news the other day here about how they had to close down a daycare for a week because of Ecoli.
I'd try and get it checked out with whomever liecences the daycares in your area.
Hope she's feeling better soon.
gr33n3y3z replied: I hope she feels better
ediep replied: oh no!! how terrible!
I hope it passes quickly!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Thanks everyone! She seems to be fine this morning, but wants to stay home. So I think she will be spending the day with her mom!
MoonMama replied: Glad she is feeling better.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: We had it too. Naomie got sick on the 29th... then on the 30th in the morning i was sick... then Emilie started getting sick that evening... so did Zach, and dh was sick in the middle of the night. It was a 24 hour flu bug, and came on suddenly, no prior warning. It's going around, and I think we caught it in Sudbury (since it can take 2 to 3 days to "cook"), so it's likely you guys got it in Timmins.
MommyToAshley replied: Poor Girl... Glad she is feeling better. It's probably a good idea to take it easy today, and I am sure she will enjoy the snuggle time with Mom.
Crystalina replied: Ditto to the snuggle time. I try to get snuggles as much as I can anymore. They are growing up so fast. When they are sick I'm all over them....and they love it.
MichaelsMommy replied: Hmmm.. if shes better this morning it sure acts like food poisoning.. If it was a flu it'd stick around a little longer I think.
holley79 replied: I'm sorry she got sick. I'm glad she is feeling a bit better though.
